Info for students about why sports are important, signs of obesity to watch out for, and different sports and fitness exercises that can be followed and shared with other. Students will be planning and be sharing their own based on what was learned and more.
*Note: Although the title is in Spanish, the whole presentation is in English. Student presentations from the lesson are encouraged to be in Spanish however, but not required.
4. Exercise is a necessary daily
agenda that many meet
requirement to and many don’t.
Reasons:
Studying
Playing video games
Reading
Sleeping/napping
Watching tv
It’s not bad to do the above, but put
a Little time and effort into
exercising. There are different
sports you can practice!
5. Sports aren’t just a team effort, it
can be individual, and even out of
school.
You play basketball at home
with your dad, or soccer with
your friends on a weekend.
Some countries like Australia have
active outdoor lifestyles, unlike the
U.S.
Why?
Should we do the same? Why?
Why not?
6. Many may say it’s not too late to start to be active.
However, the sooner the better!
Through these statistics we see that although many
people over 20 start becoming more active:
Obesity levels just won’t dwindle!
7. Some complications caused by obesity:
Type 2 Diabetes
High blood cholesterol
Heart issues
Respiratory problems

Emotional health issues

8. They can be done anywhere! Even at
home!
Not stretching on the bed. That
doesn’t count.
You can workout with or without
equipment, too.

fitness exercises at home. Look it up or ask a
friend for some advice!

Before moving forward with the field trip, students will be introduced to a video in Spanish about students understanding that doing sports (exercising) is very important.
This is discussion time with students about why they think/know exercising and doing sports is important.
*Their responses don’t have to be in Spanish. Spanish discussion will be at the end of the lesson in form of a short presentation of exercises students do on their own based on exercised discussed through this lesson.
