For thisprojected,I wantedtoworkalone andnot joina group.The reasonwhyI’ve made that
decisionwasbecause Iwantedtodevelopmyskillswhenitcomestofilmingandeditingamedia
product.In the endthiswas an advantage,asall the work wasdone by me and I wasfullyentitledto
make changeswhen somethingdidnotmatchmyexpectations.
On the otherhand,whenitcame to choosinga song,I wasnot as luckyas the otherstudentsinmy
classwho dividedthemselvesintogroups.Icouldnotuse an original songas no one frommy social
circle isa singer.Iknewthatthismightcreate a controversial,butIwasaware that I have to contact
the record label whichworkswiththe artist.
From the earlybeginning,Iknewexactlywhich songfitsthe mostwiththe musicvideoideathatI
had ‘Ratherbe’byCleanBandit.Eveninthe proposal isstatedwhichsong I wouldbe usingand
explainingwhyImade thatdecision.
However,asI washalf done withthe research,the songwas notas appealingasitusedtobe.As
newtuneswere receivedbyme asa mediaconsumer,the songdidnotlook‘upto date’.Neitherthe
radiosnor the TV channelsplayitanymore,meaningthatthe audience will ratherwatchamusic
videoof a songwhichis constantlyrequiredandgivenbythe mediaplatforms.
My classhad a musicvideoscreening.Atthattime,Idid notfinishthe musicvideosoIhad to
improvise withwhatIhad.ThisisanotherreasonwhyI decidedtouse a differentsong.‘Sungoes
down’isan easy,simple andnewsong.The artistJasmine Tomphsonisalsoanew artist,whois well
knownforher song‘Ain’tnobody’.Ibelievethissongdoeshelpthe shotstoblendtogethernicely
and create a story as my whole ideawastogive the musicvideoacinematiceffect.
