ZOOM!:
• The class forms a circle... or just stands up if you don’t have enough space.
• The teacher says an irregular verb.
• The first student says the first letter of that verb’s past participle.
• The next in line says the second letter.
• The student next in line says the third letter. This continues until all letters of the past participle have been
spoken.
• The student in line AFTER the last letter, then says the complete past participle.
• The next student in line says “ZOOM! " and is OUT, and sits down.
• For example:
– Teacher: Eat
– Student 1: E
– Student 2: A
– Student 3: T
– Student 4: E
– Student 5: N
– Student 6: EATEN
– Student 7: ZOOM! (And he is out!)
– Teacher: GIVE
– Student 8: G
– Student 1: A (Wrong letter so he’s out!)
– Student 2: I
– Student 3: V... and so on...
• Anytime a student says the wrong letter, he is out and sits down.
• The last one standing is the winner.
• Repeat the same procedure for a few more rounds.
FAST CARS!
• Make a paper car for each group.
• Use maskin’ tape to mark a starting & finish line.
• All groups must place their ‘fast cars’ behind the starting line.
• Shout a word, for example: “PRETTY!!!!” A secretary from each group must write a
sentence using that word: “Susan is a very pretty girl.”
• The first ones to finish writing a correct sentence get a chance to blow their car. (They get
down on their knees and blow the back of the car.)
• Repeat the same procedure until a group is able to get their car to cross the finish line!
• Make sure that all students get the chance to be the “secretaries”.
• Find more paper toys here: http://www.papertoys.com
PAPER BALL FIGHT!
• Each student needs a sheet of paper and a pencil or pen.
• Everyone starts by writing a new / interesting word they learned in today’s lesson.
• Then each person crumples the paper into a paper ball.
• Students make a circle.
Say "GO!!!!" and everyone starts a paper ball fight (they just take the paper balls and throw
them to each other.)
• The teacher says "STOP!!!" Each student picks up another student's paper ball, unfolds it,
reads it to the person standing next to him, and makes a sentence using that word.
Everyone crumples the paper balls again and you repeat the "GO!!!" and “STOP!!!" process
for a few more rounds.
VOCABULARY SCRAMBLE:
• Divide students into two groups.
• Ask one of the groups to come to the front.
• Give each group letters (written on separate pieces of paper) that make up a word, for
example: “FRIENDSHIP”.
• Students will hold up the letters so that everyone can see what the original word is. Then
they will reposition themselves to form as many new words using the letters they have.
With the letters from the word “FRIENDSHIP” they could form the following words:
– FRIENDSHIP = SHIP
– FRIENDSHIP = FRIEND
– FRIENDSHIP = END
– FRIENDSHIP = DIP
– FRIENDSHIP = IN
– FRIENDSHIP = RED...
• They have 2 minutes to make as many words as they can.
• While team 1 is doing this, team 2 is counting and writing on a sheet of paper the words
team 1 is forming. The words only count if they’re spelled correctly.
• When the two minutes are up, repeat the same procedure with team 2... using a different
word.
• At the end of the activity, the group that has more correct words is the winner.
• If you have a big group, you can divide students into three or four groups.
• Students can use the words they came up with to write a story or a conversation.

FOUR CORNERS:
• Number the corners of the classroom or playing area from 1 to 4.
• Select one student to be "It“.
• “It” closes his eyes while the rest of the students go to one of the four corners in the
classroom.
• When all the students are situated in a corner, “It” calls out a number.
• All the students standing in the corner with that number are out and must go back to their
seats and sit down… BUT before they sit down they have to identify a flashcard or answer a
question.
• “It” closes his eyes again, calls out a number, and more students sit down.
• When the game gets down to four people or fewer, each must choose a different corner.
• If “It” calls out a corner where nobody is standing, “It” must choose again.
• The game continues until only one student is left.
• That student becomes “It” and you can play for a few more rounds if you have enough time.

Classroom games

  • 1.
  • 2. ZOOM!: • The class forms a circle... or just stands up if you don’t have enough space. • The teacher says an irregular verb. • The first student says the first letter of that verb’s past participle. • The next in line says the second letter. • The student next in line says the third letter. This continues until all letters of the past participle have been spoken. • The student in line AFTER the last letter, then says the complete past participle. • The next student in line says “ZOOM! " and is OUT, and sits down. • For example: – Teacher: Eat – Student 1: E – Student 2: A – Student 3: T – Student 4: E – Student 5: N – Student 6: EATEN – Student 7: ZOOM! (And he is out!) – Teacher: GIVE – Student 8: G – Student 1: A (Wrong letter so he’s out!) – Student 2: I – Student 3: V... and so on... • Anytime a student says the wrong letter, he is out and sits down. • The last one standing is the winner. • Repeat the same procedure for a few more rounds.
  • 3. FAST CARS! • Make a paper car for each group. • Use maskin’ tape to mark a starting & finish line. • All groups must place their ‘fast cars’ behind the starting line. • Shout a word, for example: “PRETTY!!!!” A secretary from each group must write a sentence using that word: “Susan is a very pretty girl.” • The first ones to finish writing a correct sentence get a chance to blow their car. (They get down on their knees and blow the back of the car.) • Repeat the same procedure until a group is able to get their car to cross the finish line! • Make sure that all students get the chance to be the “secretaries”. • Find more paper toys here: http://www.papertoys.com
  • 4.
  • 5. PAPER BALL FIGHT! • Each student needs a sheet of paper and a pencil or pen. • Everyone starts by writing a new / interesting word they learned in today’s lesson. • Then each person crumples the paper into a paper ball. • Students make a circle. Say "GO!!!!" and everyone starts a paper ball fight (they just take the paper balls and throw them to each other.) • The teacher says "STOP!!!" Each student picks up another student's paper ball, unfolds it, reads it to the person standing next to him, and makes a sentence using that word. Everyone crumples the paper balls again and you repeat the "GO!!!" and “STOP!!!" process for a few more rounds.
  • 6. VOCABULARY SCRAMBLE: • Divide students into two groups. • Ask one of the groups to come to the front. • Give each group letters (written on separate pieces of paper) that make up a word, for example: “FRIENDSHIP”. • Students will hold up the letters so that everyone can see what the original word is. Then they will reposition themselves to form as many new words using the letters they have. With the letters from the word “FRIENDSHIP” they could form the following words: – FRIENDSHIP = SHIP – FRIENDSHIP = FRIEND – FRIENDSHIP = END – FRIENDSHIP = DIP – FRIENDSHIP = IN – FRIENDSHIP = RED... • They have 2 minutes to make as many words as they can. • While team 1 is doing this, team 2 is counting and writing on a sheet of paper the words team 1 is forming. The words only count if they’re spelled correctly. • When the two minutes are up, repeat the same procedure with team 2... using a different word. • At the end of the activity, the group that has more correct words is the winner. • If you have a big group, you can divide students into three or four groups. • Students can use the words they came up with to write a story or a conversation.
  • 8. FOUR CORNERS: • Number the corners of the classroom or playing area from 1 to 4. • Select one student to be "It“. • “It” closes his eyes while the rest of the students go to one of the four corners in the classroom. • When all the students are situated in a corner, “It” calls out a number. • All the students standing in the corner with that number are out and must go back to their seats and sit down… BUT before they sit down they have to identify a flashcard or answer a question.
