England, France and the US attack, as retaliation for
Assad's alleged use of chemicals in the city of Douma.
Trump announces he will withdraw 2,000 troops from Syria,
claiming that ISIS has been defeated. This finds the English,
Russian and Germans opposed and the Russians and Turks
agree.

dead zone between the Turkish border and the areas
controlled by the YPG, which the Turks consider a terrorist
organization.

the fact that the United States has been labeled a "ceasefire" and the Turks a "pause".
• Germany's defense minister has suggested that the area of northern Syria should be
under international control. At the same time, hundreds of trucks with US troops have
crossed into Iraq, making the largest withdrawal of US forces from Syria. Iraq, for its

• Washington announces that US forces will withdraw from the border for a
long-planned Turkish operation, a statement confirmed by Tayyip Erdogan
the next day.
• The Pentagon is attempting to reintroduce Trump's statement by saying
that the US does not support any Turkish attack on Syria.
• Turkey has launched the operation Peace Spring with Syrian rebel allies. It is
an invasion of northeastern Syria with the aim of driving out the SDFs and
creating a safe / empty 30km zone where they will place Syrian refugees.
• The Turks consider the YPG (the Kurdish administration of the SDFs) to be a
terrorist organization motivated by the US and the European Union.
