1. The Syrian Conflict: Chemical weapons and Foreign Intervention: Be or not to be?
In recent months the situation in Syria became more acute. Every day we have been hearing
about the incremental amount of victimes among civil population.The members of
international society (U. N. O.)and American government are confused about the situation
which created in the Arabian country. Each member of United Nations proposeshis variant
of solving this global question. In this article I would like to compare their views on this
situation.
Syria has been at the Civil war since 2011 when the opposition decided to overthrow the
Presidential regime of BacharAsad. For the first time chemical attack on its territory was carried
out on the 19th of March 2013near the Han-Al-Asal. The rebellion charged the governmental
troops with this attack because of which 15 were killed. For the solution of this dispute
Arabian goverenment sent a proposal to the U. N.O. in which they asked to send the
International inspectors to their country. But the chemical attacks were continued until the
21st of August.
According to the Gurdian newspaper: «all Syrian chemical weapons wil be placed under the
international control and destroyed in the process». This decision was accepted after the
meeting of U. S. secretary John Carry with his Russian collegueMinister of Foreign Affairs
SergeyLavrov. In this Gurdian article which is called «Syria Crysis: US and Russia agree chemical
weapons deal». Here I can't find the information about the target date of the final stand of this
agreement.
In the American daily newspaper New York Times I found the information about the date of the
final step. «… Syria's arsenal of chemical weapons to be removed or destroyed by the middle of
2014». Remind you that American government supports the idea of the foreign intervention.
The United Nations Security Council supports the idea of Syrian military Intervention. Our
country expressed the disappointment of any military actions in this country. This point of view
was mentioned by the Russian President Poutin during his interview to the New York Times. He
proposed to develop a compromise plan for their general future. He also noted that American
government should follow the law «Force is permitted only in self –defense or by the decision
of the Security Council». He also marked that USA haven't long-termed interest in the Arabian
conflict.At the end of the Interview Poutin mentioned that Americans, Russians, Syrians are
equal.
From my point of view that Russia U. N. O. and USA can't finish this Civil war. It is the inner
affair of Syrian oppostion and their government
