2. SINGER, MUSICIAN, AND MUSIC BUSINESS STUDENT EDWARD “EDDIE”
TANGEL
Ever since he was young, music has been a big part of Edward’s life. He is eager, ready, and
determined to make a name for himself in the music industry. His ability to connect and engage
with his audience creates a comfortable space where anyone can feel accepted.
At the age of 10, Edward was put into piano lessons. However, it was not until he picked up the
guitar, at age 14, until he truly fell in love with it. He started taking lessons from the lead singer
& guitarist of a local band, Waterstreet, but it wasn’t long until they had to part ways due to the
band recording in Memphis, TN. For another year, Edward had guitar teachers on and off, but
they never seemed to work out. That’s when he decided to start teaching himself, through the
help of YouTube and friends.
Throughout his time at Peoria Notre Dame High School, Edward saw music as more of a hobby
and less as a career. Then, Edward decided to take a Music Business elective class his senior year
as a “blow off” class. That’s when he met his teacher, and lover of everything music, Miss
Connon. She understood students took this class as a blow off but immediately noticed that the
first day of class had sparked his interest. That’s when she started teaching the class for him and
less for the other students not looking to learn much.
Though he did not pursue an industry-centered degree immediately, Edward dove headfirst into
the music industry, learning everything he could about it. Edward attended Illinois Central
College, where his goal was to get his Associates Degree and then move on to a four-year
university. After completing a year at ICC, Edward got discouraged and dropped out of college
for a semester, planning to return the next year to finish his associates and full degree at a four-
year university. That’s when Edward did some research and found the University of Colorado
Denver, where they had a Music Business bachelor’s degree; however, after only a semester,
Edward could not take the pressure of being so away from home.
Through vigorous research, Edward stumbled upon Full Sail University, where he could
complete his degree online, at his own pace. Since his return to Peoria, Edward has been busy
with school and family, but he is slowly getting back out into the local music scene. Eager and
ready to pursue a career in the industry Edward contacted Jimmy Bridgeman, owner of Rock
Solid Studio (Dunlap, IL), to pursue his in-studio internship program. Currently, he works as a
service agent at Enterprise Rent-a-Car and is close to finishing his degree in Music Business.
Edward’s love for music is no secret. Anyone who knows him in the Peoria area knows he is
destined to be a part of the music industry, one way or another. Edward is still playing music in
the area; find him under the name “Eddie Tangel”. He currently has secured a spot playing music
at local bar, Tavern on Prospect, where he will play every Friday night starting in late September
of 2021. Earlier in the year, he released 3 songs on Spotify/Apple Music under his stage name
“Eddie Tangel”. It is his goal to create a happy, comfortable audience, no matter the platform. He
3. is currently looking for more opportunities to play, to be a part of the local music scene, and to
get his feet wet in the industry. For more information visit http://fsbizsite.com/eltangel/
