Electrical thermal plant boiler temperature and water level monitoring
1. ELECTRICAL THERMAL PLANT BOILER TEMPERATURE
AND WATER LEVEL MONITORING
ABSTRACT
A boiler system is an integral component of a process plant, and control of the water level and
temperature of the water in the drum of the boiler system is a critical operational consideration.
The major dynamics of boiler water level includes nonlinearities, non-minimum phase behavior,
instabilities, and time delay and load disturbances. A low water level in the drum will cause loss
of flow of water to tubes and causes its overheating leading to subsequent failure, A high water
level will cause water to be carried over into the turbines and causing it failure due to thermal
stress problem. Due to interaction of the steam flow and changing pressure in the drum, the
water level can be difficult to control and typically requires sophisticated control techniques.
Therefore accurate water level measurement must be made and temperature of the water in the
drum.
The objective of this project is to provide a combination of manual supervision and partial
automation and is similar to manual set-up in most respects but it reduces the labor involved in
terms of Irrigation design is simple, easy to install, microcontroller-based circuit to monitor the
values of water level and temperature of the thermal plant boiler that are continuously modified
and controlled. Here we are using ADC to convert the analog values of temperature in to digital
and these values are given to microcontroller as input and it will be displayed on LCD.
But by using this scenario we can have the knowledge of the liquid present in the drum and
there is an indication and also if there is any overflow of liquid is also indicated using buzzer,
with the help of microcontroller. The status of the project is displayed on LCD.
