Determination and standardization of the protocols for isolation of human adult
and fetal pancreatic islets for transplantation in patients with diabetes- type 1
and for experimental studies in vitro.
Obtaining of the pancreatic tissue and transport to the laboratory for cell culture.
Isolation of pancreatic islets from the surrounding exocrine tissue using adequate
Collagenase..
Purification of the islets on Ficol gradient.
Introduction of the isolated islets in the cell culture and estimation of their yield and
viability (by DTZ – staining and glucose –stimulating test).
Determination of apoptosis and necrosis of the islets by FSC and PJ staining.

laboratory for pancreatic islets culture..
Standardization of ELISA and RIA tests for detection of insulin auto antibodies in newly
discovered diabetic patients.
