Use of Neuropsychology
Indeed, as far back as 3500 BC people had an
interest in the brain’s effect on behaviour, and
throughout history, researchers and doctors
(famous or otherwise) have been fascinated by
the brain and its correlation to the mind. It’s
based on their work that the field of neuropsy-
chology emerged in the late 19th century.
In Therapy
Mental health experts have long worked with
the brain despite being unable to visually see
the organ. That’s because of neuropsychology,
which is a relatively new field that continues to
offer specialists such as therapists insights into
brain functioning. Therapists often rely on this
body of knowledge, combined with medical
knowledge, to perform a variety of therapeutic
techniques.
One of the sub-fields within neuropsychology
is clinical neuropsychology, which analyses the
conditions that affect brain health and how its
functioning affects mental health. Clinical neu-
ropsychologists are trained to provide compre-
hensive assessments that provide insights into
potential issues affecting the brain. By collabo-
rating with other medical specialists, therapists
can offer assistance and feedback to patients
on how to manage or improve brain activity for
targeted outcomes.

functioning has an impact on psychological states.
