3. How to Cite Authors inside Text
Single Author Paper (Ex)
Kumar, S. , 2009. Analysis of tubular adhesive joints with a functionally modulus
graded bondline subjected to axial loads. Int. J. Adhes. Adhes. 29 (8), 785–795 .
Should be cited as
In this study, spatial-tailoring of elastic properties of the bondlayer is considered
to redistribute the stresses along the bondline ( Kumar, 2009)
Paper with Two Authors (Ex)
Kumar, S. , Adams, R. , 2017. Special issue on functionally graded adhesively
bonded systems. Int. J. Adhes. Adhes. 76, 1–2 .
Should be cited as
In this study, spatial-tailoring of elastic properties of the bondlayer is considered
to redistribute the stresses along the bondline (Kumar and Adams, 2017 ).
Paper with more than Two Authors(Ex)
Rutz, A.L. , Hyland, K.E. , Jakus, A.E. , Burghardt, W.R. , Shah, R.N. , 2015. A
multimaterial bioink method for 3d printing tunable, cell-compatible hydrogels. Adv. Mater.
27 (9), 1607–1614 .
Should be cited as
In recent years, 3D printing have gained enormous amount of at- tention due to
its applicability in a wide array of applications such as biomedical, aerospace, mechanical
etc., (Rutz et al., 2015).
4. EndNote: Objectives
By the end of the session, you should know:
how to create an EndNote library and add references into your
EndNote library
how to manage your library and organize your references
how to export your references into your Word document (CWYW)
as well as to make a bibliography
5. What Is EndNote?
EndNote is a bibliographic management software program designed to
help individuals store, organize, cite and format bibliographic
references
No more writing out and organizing citations by hand
Store all your references, PDF articles, tables, images, & charts
in one place
No more consulting a style manual every 5 minutes when you’re
writing a research paper or manuscript.
6. What Can EndNote Do for You?
Organize references including table, charts, & pictures
in 1 place
Import or search for references from many databases,
including Ovid Medline and PubMed
Easily create & format bibliographies sorted by author,
year, subject, or any other term you specify
Properly cite and create reference lists of articles,
pictures, tables, etc. in Word documents or other word
processors using EndNote’s CWYW feature
8. EndNote Basics:
Creating an EndNote Library
Create a library (database) at launching the program, or
Open the EndNote program. Click “new” under the File menu
Adding References to Your EndNote Library by
importing selected references from remote databases
searching remote databases and directly downloading the results
inputting references manually
Organizing, Sorting and Searching an EndNote Library
Exporting References from EndNote to a Word Document
to create a list of references
to cite while you write (CWYW)
9. Select & Export References Directly to EndNote from a Database like Ovid
Medline
Conduct a search in Ovid Medline
first. Select the references that you
would like to put in your EndNote
Library. Then on the search results
screen, make the following choices
in the Result Manager as shown
below:
10. Search PubMed from EndNote & Directly Download Results
Make sure to use the online
search mode (temporary
library) so that the results
won’t be automatically
placed in your permanent
library.
11. Cite While You Write (CWYW)
Clicking “Insert Citation”, a pop-
up box will appear allowing you
to find the desired citation to
insert in the Word document.
12. Create a Formatted Bibliography
After highlighting the
citations and choosing
the output style, go to
the File menu and
click “Export…” and
save the file as rtf
(Rich Text Format).
