(1) Auddalaka, also known as the suicide tree, is a species of tree native to India and parts of southern Asia that grows in coastal areas.
(2) All parts of the tree produce a potent poison, especially the milky latex and fruit kernels. Ingestion of even one fruit kernel can be fatal, with signs and symptoms appearing within 1-2 hours and death occurring within 24-48 hours from heart failure.
(3) In Ayurveda, auddalaka is used to treat conditions like madness, skin diseases, itching, and arthritis, though it must be processed (shodhana) first when taken internally. The tree has also been used for suicide,

4. Cerbera odollam, the pong-pong tree is a dicotyledonous
angiosperm, a plant species in the family Apocynaceae and
commonly known as the suicide tree, pong-pong, mintolla,
and othalam
Toxic Part:
It bears a fruit known as othalanga that yields a potent poison
that has been used for suicide and murder. All parts of the
tree yield a potent poison, especially the milky latex which
copiously exudes from the stems.

7. MODE OF ACTION
Cerberin has a mechanism of action similar to digoxin;
hence, Cerbera odollam toxicity manifests similar to
acute digoxin poisoning. Ingestion of its kernel causes
nausea, vomiting, hyperkalemia, thrombocytopenia,
and ECG abnormalities. Exposure to high doses of
Cerbera odollam carries the highest risk of mortality.
