Doménica introduces herself and describes her family. She lives in Sangolquí with her parents, Ricardo and Sonia, and her older brother Pablo. Her mother Sonia works as a child psychologist and her father Ricardo is a civil engineer. She has an older sister Tania who lives in Ibarra and works in educational administration. Pablo has a daughter named Samanta who Doménica loves like a little sister. When she was younger, Doménica spent holidays with her maternal grandparents Miguel Angel and the late Beatriz in Ibarra, where her aunt Tere and cousin Andrea also live. Her paternal grandmother Teresa, now 93, had been a school teacher.

2. Hello, my name is Doménica but most
of people usually call me “Dome”. I’m
20 years old and I’m the youngest
child of my family.
I live in Sangolquí with my parents and
my big brother.
However, my family is quite numerous
so I’ll talk about my closest ones.
MY FAMILY
3. MY PARENTS
My mother’s name is Sonia. She was born in Otavalo in
1962 and lived in Ibarra during her school years. Then
moved to Quito in order to study at Central University.
She’s just turned 57 years old this week. She’s an emotional
and lovely woman who is always looking after her loved
ones.
She Works as a children psychologist in a school in Quito.
My father is Ricardo. He was born in Quito in 1955 and he
has lived there until we all moved to Sangolqui. He studied
civil engineering at Escuela Politecnica Nacional.
I have got two half-siblings from his first marriage,
Alejandra and Sebastian.
My dad turned 64 years old last September.
I admire him because he’s such an intelligent man and the
smartest person I now. He has got plenty of knowledge
about all kinf of topics so he’s able to speak about anything.
4. My siblings
I’ve got 2 older
siblings Tania and
Pablo.
Tania my older sister was born in Quito 1985 so she’s
currently 34 years old.
She studied administration at Central University.
She lives in Ibarra with my grandfather, aunt and
cousin.
When we lived together we used to argue most of the
time but now we are closer and chat on whatsapp
almost everyday.
She works in Ibarra in the Educational Department.
She’s not married and hasn’t got any children.
Pablo is our middle brother. He was born
Atuntaqui in 1987. He’s 32 years old now.
He studied mechanical engineering at Escuela
Politecnica Nacional.
He’s got a daughter who is 11 years old.
He lives with my parents and me but he spends
most of his time travelling around the country
because of his job as engineer.
He’s the a person who I know I can go with
anytime I need some advice when I’m having
difficulties.
5. MY NIECE
Her name is Samanta. She’s my bother’s
daughter.
Samy was born in Quito in 2008.
She’s a student in her first year of Secondary
School.
She lives with her mother Carolina in Quito
but visit us at weekends and holidays.
I love her as if she was my little sister.
6. When I was kid I used to spend a lot of
time in Ibarra with my mom’s family.
There I stayed during all holidays with
my grandparents Miguel Angel and
Beatriz who we call Miangito and
Bachi. Bachi was a housewife and died
with cancer 2 years ago. My granpa
used to be a bus driver so that we
could travel anywhere we wanted to.
Also, my aunt Tere and my cousin
Andrea live in my grandparent’s house.
They both work at Medical Department
in Ibarra.
I didn’t use to spend so much time at my
dad’s family house because I have got so
many cousins which make that not
possible.
My grandmother’s name is Teresa but
all the family call her Abi. She’s 93 years
old but she can remember dates and
stories in a really accurate way which
amaze us. She used to be a school
teacher.
I never met my grandfather Pablo but I
know everybody called him Tata. He
died a couple of years before I was
born.
