Language is necessary for thoughts

Editor's Notes

  1. May I have the permission to start sir
  2. This is the pray of Musa alehesalam when he was assigned by Allah for salvage of Bunny Israeil and correction of Ferro. In this Musa Alehesalam is praying from Allah that his problem of speech should be resolved and his language become clear to understand.Respectable teachers and My dear colleagues this pray is very much related to my to days topic of presentation and that is........
  3. Language is necessary for thoughts In this topic i will highlight the importance of language for expression of thoughts and emphasis the importance of communication
  4. All social animals communicate with each other, from bees and
  5. ants
  6. to whales and
  7. and apes
  8. but only humans have developed a language which is simply more than a set of prearranged signals.
  9. My aim of this presentation is to apprise about the importance of language in interpretations of thoughts
  10. I will try to achieve my aim by studying origin of different languages......
  11. Discussing the importance of communication and skill and
  12. by comparison of different languages.
  13. Methodology is Review of literature, Internet search, and public pole
  14. Sequence of my presentation is as displayed on the slide
  15. Why we are superior physical strength? but Physical strength is not the right answer ........
  16. because a lot of very powerful creature .........
  17. ........ exist on the face of earth..... Much more powerful then humans
  18. When people favour the ability of sensory organs, it is still a lot more other creatures in the world have the sensory abilities far more perfect and very sensitive.. Like this bear who can smell even a distance of 20 km.
  19. And this white shark which can smell the blood even from miles away
  20. So what distinguish us from rest of the creature and make us superior?
  21. The evolutionary theorists believe that the difference between humans and other creatures is our ability to communicate with language. With these skills human existence in the animal kingdom  is a form of superiority and God-given. In this context language is an attribute that is distinguishing behaviour for men in this world.
  22. There are many theories but i discuss two kinds of major theories about theorigin of languages. First theory rooted in the divine and belief in divine creation). ..
  23. The Jews believe the that this is language of God and given to human beings to control and conquer the world
  24. For Christians In the Gospel is mentioned that God created Adam as the first man with the ability to talk
  25.  In Hindus book Ramayan it is mentioned that the language of Hindu culture is the grace of Goddess Saraswati wife of brahma the creator of the universe.
  26. And at the last but the most important In Holy Quran it is revealed that Allah created Adam and teach him few words so he can be proved as superior among the all creature of Allah and they bow in front of Adam because of his wisdom given by the Allah
  27. Second theory which i am going to mentions is of Hypotheses of natural evolution
  28. According to Darwin in the Descent of Man the quality of human language with the language of animals differ in degree only. Humans develop theirs language by interaction and communication
  29. Human beings are by nature and culture a small group species. We have survived, despite our physical vulnerability, by working together and solving problems as a group. Using language as a tool
  30. Languages change, usually very slowly and sometimes very rapidly.  There are many reasons a language might change.  One obvious reason is interaction with other languages.  If one tribe of people trades with another, they will pick up specific words and phrases for trade objects..
  31. Correlation between the language and intelligenceintelligence is the, ”capacity of the individual to act purposefully, to think rationally, and to deal effectively with his environment“In a labyrinth confined test three species were tested human dog and monkey so as expected human get solved the puzzle How come?By writing on the walls and ensuring not to repeat humans are the most intelligent species; and in fact, "We are also the only species with language
  32. “Emperor Frederick - the 13th century ruler of the Holy Roman Empire - wanted toknow what language had been spoken at the birth of mankind in the Garden of Eden. Was it Hebrew, Greek or Latin?
  33. He ordered an experiment in which the originalcircumstances would be recreated as closely as possible. A group of infants were tobe isolated from hearing human speech from the moment of birth until they spoke theirlanguage. The babies were to be raised by nurses who were strictly charged to maintaincomplete silence when with the babies.
  34. The Result????
  35. Every one of the babies
  36. Died
  37. The lack of communication can be lethal.”
  38. human brain is divided into two hemispheres .. Broca’s area plays an important role in the formation of speech While Wernicke’s area involved in language comprehension..
  39. Communication can be categorizes as under:-Intrapersonal communication Interpersonal communicationWorking group communication and Mass communication
  40. many of us spend 70 to 80 percent of our waking hours in some form of communication. Of that time, we spend about 9 percent writing, 16 percent reading, 30 percent speaking, and 45 percent listening. Studies also confirm that most of us are poor and inefficient listeners. Most people listen at an efficiency level of less than about 25 percent. Studies also show that, immediately after listening to a 10-minute oral presentation, the average listener has heard, understood, properly evaluated, and retained only half of what was said.
  41. There are mainly two types of communcationVerbal Meeting, Presentations and lectures, workshops, conversations Non-verbalBody language, facial expressions, paralinguistic's, Gestures, Haptics, eyes gaze
  42. In my public pole there were many question buti will highlight the result of two more relevant questions. The first question is naturally related to my topic that is language is necessary for thoughts 89% answer in favour of necessity of language for thoughts interpretations .
  43. In second question with target population of at least graduate level is was asked that which language they feel is more effective for their communication 50% voted in favour of Urdu and only 20% voted in favour of English Now we discuss a bit alarming situation
  44. Vanishing voices One language dies every 14 days.
  45. By the next century nearly half of the roughly 7,000 languages spoken on Earth will likely disappear, as communities abandon native tongues in favor of English, Mandarin, Spanishor other major languages.
  46. In Pakistan there are 28 indigenous mother languages endangered of the extinction. Out of 28, Balti, Brahui, Khowar, Maiya, Purik and Spiti are in the list of vulnerable languages which means that the most children who have inherited this language speak it but it may be restricted to certain domains .
  47. What is lost when a language goes silent?Almost everything for that particular tribeAs a whole, culture dies, with their social norms, traditions and most of all their values..They just live in the history
  48. Recommendations
  49. Equal opportunities For all people irrespective of language will be entertained equally so poeple not intend to leave their native languages
  50. From speaking to writing All language should be addressed with their written curriculum so they all survive and grow
  51. Never Break the communicationSo the tribes which are not in the main stream never become isolated from the main community
  52. Now I will conclude by saying that Language is an expression of human activity and because human activity is constantly changing, language also changes along with it. Every communicator must know the significance of language which is essential for effective communication.
  53. So at the end i want to say thank you to all for passionate listening and again emphasising that language is necessary for interpretation of thought but not necessarily for the questions but comments are always welcome
