Essay on Factors Shaping My Life
Nothing is more important than the concept of us to hold of ourselves. We usually learn our self–images from our experiences, observations, or from
experiments. Unfortunately, most people are scared of taking chances on their luck; instead prefer to learn their self–image from the eternal ignorance
of their families, society, and their peers. Genetic decomposition does play a major role in human's life. So, my genetic values have helped me
considerably throughout my life and helped me to develop my personality. Since from my childhood, I have always been perceived as a popular and
cool individual with a mellow personality. This has developed a sense of confidence within me that achieved me trust and respect among all my peers.

I was able to fit in with all kinds of people from all different races with no issues. Their generosity has impacted so many people lives that I have
started thinking like them and try to help those who are genuinely needy and have trouble to meet with their financial demands. My mother has also
played a major role in creating my positive self–image. She pushed me to struggle in life, think high and have respect for myself. She has always
encouraged me to participate in athletically active sports, and encourage me to participate in extracurricular activities to develop my defense system
strong. Being subjected to these types of influences at early age in such a positive manner, has also given me the desire to instill or play a positive
role in the people's lives that are near to me like my sisters. I encouraged them to build a positive self–concept in life. I helped them to acknowledge
their genetic disposition so they would be able to take greater benefits of their positive strengths from their parents. Individuals have a drive to look
outside images and used them as a reference to physical reality or in comparison to other people. My self–image comprised of watching realistic
personalities who have worked distinctly in their fields of professions like any political arena, to any social icon, Sports, or human rights activists. They

Memoir
Everyone has their own stories, no matter it is meaningful or not it is their life and their memories. When I told to write a memoir about languages, I
could not come up about any ideas. So, I ask Professor for help, my Professor told us that everyone has their own stories and it is interesting, because
that is your experiences not ours. People like to hear stories, because it is not their experiences and they want to know what have you been through.
Here are little stories about myself.
I was born and grow up in China, Tianjin, a big city where just an hour away from Beijing. Since my mom wants to give me a better living
environment, and better chance of education; so, we decided to move to US. When I moved to the US in 2012, I was only sixteen years old and
barely spoke any English. Even I had learned English for all my school life in China, I still didn't understand when other talking to me. The new life
was totally different, it was tough and challenging for me. The new language environment and culture differences were giving me a hard time to fit into
this country. When I first came to Chicago; Mother and I went through a great amount of troubles trying to enroll me in a high school. Many schools
turned me down because of my lack of English skills. They wrote me a letter and send me to an ESL class at a community college.
As soon as my mother settled me down in a small apartment, she left me to work in another state. She needs to make money to support me and our
family, so I have no choice to live alone by myself. I was facing the challenge of fending for myself in a totally strange environment, where I didn't
know enough English to ask for help. When I was in China, I never had to cook, shop for groceries, and walk to school. For the first time in my
life, I had to do everything by myself. I had so little money that I could not afford to eat at restaurants every day. Therefore, I had no choice but to
cook for myself. At first, my mother was the only person I can ask for advice. But when it came to practice, it felt ten times harder than it sounds to
me. I remember practicing cutting on potatoes. My left fingers were often wrapped with Band–Aids. But I disregarded the pain and kept practicing it

My Personal Identity Essay
A person's identity is shaped by many different aspects. Family, culture, friends, personal interests and surrounding environments are all factors that
tend to help shape a person's identity. Some factors may have more of an influence than others and some may not have any influence at all. As a
person grows up in a family, they are influenced by many aspects of their life. Family and culture may influence a person's sense of responsibilities,
ethics and morals, tastes in music, humor and sports, and many other aspects of life. Friends and surrounding environments may influence a person's
taste in clothing, music, speech, and social activities. Personal interests are what truly set individuals apart. An individual is not a puppet...show more

Society has had a limited impact on my lifestyle, mostly because I despise trends. The largest trends I despise are rap and hip–hop and the clothing,
attitudes, and type of speech that that type of 'music' is breeding. I chose to steer away from that crowd, but it may also be because I live my life
off of adrenaline. My high on life is the energy I have when I get my blood pumping, my heart pounding, and my adrenaline raging. Most aspects
of my individuality reflect that very well. I love hard, aggressive music, and also guns, but my passion in life is extreme sports, whether it be on a
dirt bike, a bmx bike, a snowmobile, or a snowboard. I have a strong set of morals and ethics that I have partly adopted from my parents, but some
are also partly my own. My morals mostly consist of karma (being kind, caring, helpful, truthful, and considerate to others), not littering (especially in
nature), respecting nature, keeping a clean and welcoming home, success that is measured with happiness and not possessions, and having strong
family ties. I feel that I am very strongly rounded individual who is going to go far in life. Many people would agree with that, although some people
just think that I am an absolutely crazy person who has a death wish and will not go anywhere but to the hospital or the morgue. Educational
experiences also tend to influence a person's identity. I have not had too many educational

My Personal Feelings of Self Worth Essay
People's self–esteem either high or low is shaped by their life experiences. I believe a person's self–esteem begins to take shape at an early age, with
their parents being a major influence. Kind, positive, knowledgeable and caring parents help children create a positive self–image. Parents who do not
feel good about themselves or others, sometimes take it out on their childern by belittling them or discouraging them. This leads the child down a path
of self–doubt and eventually given the right circumstances a lower self–esteem.
My parents where very overprotective which sounds good on the surface, but this caused me to feel unequal to my peers since my parents would not
let me play sports or even go on a field trip one time because...show more content...
If that was not enough to deal with, I also have red hair and freckles so I was constantly teased about my appearance. All this contributed to my own
lack of self–confidence and a feeling that I was not as good as my peers.
These are some experiences that have shaped my self–esteem. I do not portend to make excuses for myself; I only want to illustrate that you can let
these experiences either motivate you or de–motivate you, the choice is always yours. I let these life experiences de–motivate until I came to the
realization that you should not let others determine your fate or what you can achieve.
Years ago I read a passage in a book by: "Louise L. Hay" she said; every morning you can get up and look in the mirror and decide what kind of day you
are going to have." The beauty of it is, you can get up the following morning and decide all over again. This is a powerful statement, letting us know
we have the power to control our feelings and shape our outlook on life. If you are telling yourself positive things, it will help you build a positive
self–esteem.
Example:
Not long ago a golfer on the PGA Tour, was having trouble with his putting, he was losing confidence, it was starting to effect his whole game and his
self–esteem since even the TV Announcers, where talking about his putting troubles. He choose to start telling himself that he was a great putter of the
golf ball and in a short

What I Learned About Myself Essay
This class has taught me a lot about myself in such a brief period of time. I never thought I could dig as deep as I did, and have a better
understanding of who I am as a person just by writing a single essay. I was not expecting the amount of self–awareness that I gained through this class.
I really enjoyed the hermit crab essays, because they really guided me to find my true feelings. It was hard for me to get started writing at first and then
once I got started, it was almost impossible to stop. I love the feeling that I am in control of what I am writing and there are no restrictions and that
I can be vulnerable in my writing. This class really helped me show the vulnerable side of who I am. I was sometimes moved to tears while I was
writing because, I realized things about myself that I never thought to be true before. I would get so excited that I would read it to my boyfriend,
family and friends. This class was in no way easy, but it was definitely worth it for many reasons. I learned how to become a better writer, I learned
about myself as a person, and I constructed pieces of writing that I didn't know I was capable of. Some assignments became easier as time went on
because I became a stronger writer. However, I think the hardest one for me was having to write about the room I was in. It didn't interest me because
it didn't help me dig deeper into my feelings or anything of that matter. I also didn't enjoy having to respond to different pieces of writing, because it

Essay About Myself
There are three very important aspects that play a major rule in my life. They can be categorized as intellectual, social, and spiritual. My intellectual
self is interesting because I am mainly right–brained which means that I tend to use my creativity more than my mathematical skills, also making me
a visual learner. My social self consists of friends, family, and my surroundings. I spend most of my time at home with my family. Whenever I am
with my friends, I observe their behaviors and listen to their opinions. I am more of an independent type of person. Being with different people has
influenced me into appreciating different cultures and beliefs. I have learned things that have now been incorporated into my own set of beliefs and

I find that I can only recall long–term memories if they are important to me, or if they are dramatic experiences. A few examples of my childhood
memories are my mother reading to me, my grandfather playing his guitar, and my dad relentlessly teaching me how to ice skate, no matter how
many times I fell. The people who affect my social life the most are my family and friends. I have an extremely close family that has played a
major role in my life. They are whom I spend most of my spare time with. My family usually gathers every weekend for dinner. I am also very open
to different religions, cultures, and practices because I know many people with different backgrounds and beliefs. Since I've been influenced by
various people, I've learned at a very young age to never judge people by how they look, dress, feel, or act. I am very fortunate to have learned
these lessons, because many people still do not understand the importance of accepting differences. In a group, I prefer to listen to what others have
to say, and then contribute to the discussion. I try to listen so I am able to compare them to my own thoughts. I enjoy working in a group, because it
gives everyone an opportunity to incorporate their own ideas. My social self is most greatly influenced by my family and friends. I believe that my
spiritual self is the most important out of the three. Although I have a certain religion that I belong to and practice, I believe in a bit of

Essay About Myself as a Writer
I don't consider myself a very good writer. I write when I am made to or when I have something that I need to say that I can't just tell someone. I
keep a diary. Usually my diary is just a record of what I have done that day. It's not so much about my feelings. I don't really like talking about my
feelings, usually because most of the time I am confused about what exactly I am feeling. I tend to keep the feelings that I do have to myself, to protect
myself from getting hurt.

When I started my high school, I found my current best friend, Marie. We are still friends to this day; she just left for college at George Mason. So once
again I'm not with my best friend.
I'm not trying to make my life all depressing because it hasn't been all bad. And I realize that people have had things a lot worse happen to them, in
their lives, and I should be thankful for what I have. But no matter what I have I just never seem truly happy. I always have this front up, and it
seems like everything is going great, but deep inside, I'm falling apart. This comes out in my writing, and I think that writing is a good release from
all of this. I always try to do my best when it comes to my class work and my writing, but I know that my writing isn't the best by any means. I
always find it important to the best job that I can do, on school work and also in life.
I think that a lot of what got me through writing papers in middle and high school was my mom. She was so great about reading over and correcting
my papers. She stayed up many nights doing that for me. Not because she had to, but because she wanted to help me. There were so many other
things she could have been doing, but instead she was helping me, and that means a lot to me. I'm kind of nervous about doing this all on my own. I'm
excited thought o see what I can do on my own. I am so excited about starting new here, with a clean slate. I think that

Essay about Know Thyself
"Know thyself" – Socrates. Self–awareness is the act of being fully perceptive about one's innermost self; an essential part to one's life. However, this
self–inquiry is not easily obtained. "Self–awareness and its accompanying egoism profoundly affect people's lives, interfering with their success,
damaging their relationships with other people, and undermining their happiness." (Leary) One's self can become distorted through the influence of
society and their beliefs. "Knowing others is wisdom, knowing yourself is Enlightenment" – Tao Tzu. This introspection surpasses the ordinary
understanding of life and grasps the aspect of one's innermost self. The insightfulness brought to one through self–awareness leads to the utmost

This pervasive "commentary" adds new meaning and interpretation to what is occurring in actuality. The ultimate experience one seems to go through
is changed due to the first–person perception and the opinion which one holds about what happened rather than the actual event. This causes an
unbalance in what actually occurred and what one perceived to have occurred. (Leary)
At times, the one–sided view causes an overestimation of positive qualities one may possess, thus interpreting events to make one look or seem
more favorable to others. One "over perceives" the better qualities one posses and "under perceives" the more unfavorable characteristics one
possesses. One also favors things or events more closely related to one's self. One claim more responsibility when something is done well, than when
something is done poorly, which is proven by ones denial of responsibility or control. Furthermore, the thought process one engages causes judging
based on self–interest and major distortions in one's view of others and ultimately of one's self. These distortions one has over one's self and others
help him or her lose sight of who one actually is or who someone else could be. Assumptions, effected by ones bias perspective, do not facilitate the
achievement of one to be true to be one's self. These assumptions lead to one caring about how others perceive one another.
Judgment is also greatly

Defining Myself Essay
Sometimes a person may feel that they have no purpose in life. Finding out who you are just takes the time of sitting down and thinking of the
importance in your life. Who am I? I am Mercedes Kimberly Kingston, and I am a person with different personalities, characteristics, and identities.
The many ways, in which I identify myself, in fact, are the ways that define who I am. My Identity is something only I can fully define. I have a
little brother, which makes me a sister; I have two loving parents, which makes me a daughter; I am in college studying medicine, which makes me a
student; and I have wonderful friends in desperate need of support, which makes me a wonderful best friend. Before anything, I am a big sister to

It is seen as an essential part of learning and using what you learn in class. But when you get loads of class work and have very little time to finish it,
then it becomes an unnecessary burden. Yet, sometimes, for me, it is the fact that I procrastinate that prevents me from completing a task. For
college student, like myself who is working to pay for college, large amounts of class work usually brings lots of stress and fear of not being able
to get good grades in many of my classes. Yet, I have support from my family, friends, and some peers who encourage me to put up a good fight in
reaching my goal. I am a student that has gone through so much to get here, where I am. There were times that I had strong feelings that I would
never be in college, just because of the negative energy I forced upon myself. Since pre–K, I have had this problem that if I can't do something I just
give up, and stop trying. I still have this problem, but I have learned to get a control on it. The biggest problem was graduating from high school. I never
thought that I would ever graduate. But I knew, as a student, I should at least try and show my teachers that I am putting effort. And now, I'm in
college, studying pre–med, and hoping to become either a pediatrician, or a NFL Doctor. Growing up as a daughter to a single mom, was, I think, the

Reflective Essay About Myself
Walking into my fifth grade classroom for the millionth time, I searched around the room to see if there was anyone like me. A girl with
chocolate skin. For as long as I can remember, I was the only one in my grade, ever since I started school. But this did not mean I did not have
friends. Caterina and I were best friends that year. She was from Venezuela, had white olive skin with long blonde hair, and light eyes. One school
day, when we were walking to P.E., she said to me "I like your hair because it stays in place." A little taken back, I was not sure if this a compliment
or not, but I said thank you anyway. Her comment had stayed with me for the rest of the day. I began to wonder why my hair grew the way it did
and if I could change it. This was, thus the beginning of my insecurities. Going to school every few months with a different hairstyle would raise a
few questions for my classmates. Different styles, such as, box braids and marley twists, would change my attitude because I no longer looked the
way I felt most of the time, ugly. But because I knew my look was only temporary, I did my best not to draw attention to myself. As I advanced
grades, I always hoped there would be someone like me. Not necessarily student. After fifth grade, I figured I might as well conquer eighth grade

School, to me and among many peers of my age, is not a distant term. I have spent one–third of my life time sitting in classrooms, every week since I
was seven years old. After spending this much time in school, many things and experiences that happened there have left their mark in my memory.
Some are small incidences while some have had a great impact on me. However, regardless the degree of significance, things that happened all
contributed to shape the person that I am now. I was accused of cheating for the first time when I was seven years old. It was during the term final

Everything started anew, I was all by myself. While I was busy getting used to the school and making new friends, I also discovered a new passion,
soccer. Through soccer I was able to meet some of my most loyal friends. We would often get together and play soccer against other classes. The
school required a test for admission, so the competition was getting fierce. The teachers focused a lot on our academics and tried to squeeze as much
time as they can from us to study. As the result, we were not allowed to play soccer during our free time because it hinders us from studying. Maybe it
is human tendency to break laws, but the gang of us didn’t want to conform to that rule so sneaking a soccer ball to school and keep it away
from the teachers became an everyday challenge. It was amazing the kind of ideas we came up with for this task. Soccer added spices into my
otherwise boring school life, and it served as a channel between me and my fellow classmates. Through soccer we found a common ground, that we
were able to know each other more and support each other no matter what happens. It gave us a sense of unity, and it was very important to me. Even
now I cherish the pact I had with them back then – the support that helped me to stay on the right track during my rebel teenage years. My homeroom
teacher at the time had the most impact on me than any other mentors I had. People say

Personal Narrative: I Found Myself
It was almost 3 years ago that I found myself in a rather strange dilemma. I was bored with blogging and all the gimmicks that you had to do in order
to be good at it. This concept did not work for me. I wanted something that inspired creativity in me and in others. So I started experimenting with
posting cartoons, pop culture artwork, internet memes, and videos. Not only was I having fun, I was learning to curate content. Another door that was
opened was partnering with artists who were animators, cartoonists, and illustrators. My friend Tim Engstrom created a custom artwork for the header
and the sidebar. It wasn't long before my clients, friends, and family were reading the blog. What I learned was that this project was more than

the option of reading it over. I do not always trust myself to absorb all information the first time around. I take a lot of notes to look at. Notes help me

would get anything out of it, but at least I know what they mean.
I like to take my time with material, but am not always given the allotted time to do so. I also like to keep a written list of things to do to refer to. I

Although there are several things on my list that I am cringing over I will give it my all. What better way to be a good therapist? Starting the process
of self–care now will hopefully alleviate future problems that I could face. I embrace this experience to create more self–love within. Setting out with
determination and a clear understanding of my plan will hopefully create the motivation that I need to complete my goals. Knowing how I am, I have
to take this day–by–day. If I do miss a task, instead of beating up on myself as I usually do I will commit to that task the following day. Its not so
much doing the tasks that I am worried about because everything on my list I appreciate, it is finding the time to fit it all in. I think what will
motivate me is knowing that if I can't help and take care of myself then how can I take care of my future clients. My ultimate goal after attending
Antioch is of course helping others better their lives so I think this plan will give me a jumpstart in helping myself first.

My Life
I was born in San Jose, Costa Rica, and moved to California when I was very young. Before I moved to California my dad traveled back and forth for 2

spent his time working in any available job including some farm labor jobs and went back to Costa Rica to spend time with us. After the second time
he left Costa Rica to come and work he did not go back. At that time, amnesty was given to immigrants in California, and he moved up north to the

Having friends who spoke my language, and the English language as well was an advantage I had. Having that extra help and support really made my

Remembering the support I received from those friends creates a need in me to do the same for other people. I don't only believe that the support that I

The Self Essay
The Self Every situation that an individual is exposed to throughout life, helps mold our "self." As humans we have the ability to see ourselves from
the outside, and all through life we try to see what others see and our "self" revolves around the generalized other. We observe how others perceive us
and we make conclusions depending on our observations. How we act around others depends on the image we feel they have towards us.
Charles Horton Cooley, a symbolic interactionist, concluded that our sense of "self" develops from interactions with others. Cooley described this

other people react to us, we modify our "self."
The "self" is never a finished project, and it continues to change as our life takes different turns. Our "self" reacts to the environment that we are in. As
the "self" expands we put together the different reactions making us a unique individual. Every individual has a different way of thinking and therefore

is being rude, I try to "kill them with kindness" in return. I used the quote: "Beauty isn't about having a pretty face. It is about having a pretty mind, a
pretty heart, and most importantly, a beautiful soul". I chose to use this quote because I adore it and I go by it. What matters most is in the inside, not
on the outside. I think people sometimes, even me, get too caught up and try too hard to look beautiful, but they don't focus on personality.
A) I expected to get artistic, creative and investigative as my results on surveys that I took, because I already knew I had these traits as a part of my
personality. However, the results from mylearning styles survey were a little surprising to me. I got visual as my highest total score, while kinesthetic
and auditory were almost balanced out scores. The reason why I was a little surprised was that last year, I took a survey to figure out my learning
style, and I got both auditory and visual learner. The results have their little differences, but that shows people do change over time. Learning styles can
be learned and strengthened.
I learned plenty of things from my results. My values–which I didn't see clearly–are now clear, and I found out the little unique things that make up my
personality. From my personality survey, I am mostly artistic,

Essay on Me Myself and Personality Traits
Me Myself and Personality Traits When asked to describe myself I never know what to say, but I should know myself the best, right? I like to look
at myself as a genuine, thoughtful young lady. I'm a hard worker; I believe nothing is ever handed to you so you have to go get it. I worked hard
to get to this point of my life and working even harder to get to the successful and graduate part of my life. I care more for some others than I do
myself but I have a huge nonchalant attitude. I don't really show anger or sadness much I always smile because I'm optimistic about life. I look at
life as if something bad comes along, no need to dwell on it you can't take it back so just move–on and improve what you did wrong if it's possible.

I was taught to be caring and thoughtful; I wasn't taught anything else from anyone other than not to trust people. I'm the odd ball of my family
because I am nothing like anyone. I can say I was also taught to believe in myself and never down myself because I can accomplish anything. That is
shown through my determination and hard work because if I didn't believe in myself I wouldn't try as hard. Last but not all, Humanistic approach sums
up my personality a little more than psychodynamic does because it involves nature vs. nurture and that kind of sums it up just saying that.
Environment and Heredity is kind of the main reasons of my attitudes and actions. In the article, Time–Limited Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Briggs
conducts different forms of psychotherapy techniques to prove whether things in an adolescent's life effect different adolescents differently. His study
was a success and proved that many adolescents have different interpretations on the same issue. He read them off different problems and wanted to
see how they would interpret them. He used children in the age groups of 12–17 and it worked out. I think that the different approaches can be brought
together in some circumstances but in my case it doesn't. My personality makes more sense coming from the humanistic approach. Briggs, Stephen
(2010). Time–Limited Psychodynamic Psychotherapy for Adolescents and Young Adults. Journal of Social Work

Narrative Essay Kindergarten
All I wanted when I was little was to have beautiful long hair. All of my dolls had hair down to their waist , and I longed to have hair like them.
Unfortunately for me, my hair did not grow very fast... at all. I was practically bald until I was three; and my hair was only about to my chin when
I was ready to start kindergarten. So there I was, on my first day at Foreign Language Academy. I was in SeГ±ora Vargas's Kindergarten class
holding on to my mom, dreading the moment she would have to leave. I had been really excited about starting school and getting to wear my navy
blue dress and my hellokitty backpack. Actually being in the classroom, however, incredibly nerve racking. Most of the parents were mingling and
asking questions to the teacher, while the kids tried to find their place. Some kids had already began to play games with one another. Others, like me,
were more shy, still clinging to their parent. In all the commotion, I noticed a girl who had the longest hair in the entire class of kindergartners. She
looked a lot like me except she had freckles, a pink cast on her arm, and the hair I had ever seen. Her hair was the same color as mine, but about
triple the length, and with more curl in it. Jealousy immediately swept over me. It seemed like this girl had everything I had ever wished for in my
entire life. I also thought casts were really cool at that time because I did not really understand that broken bones hurt, or that you couldn't really move

My Life As A Student
My life as a student has been a fairly good one. I've received good grades throughout all my years of high school and pride myself as an intelligent
individual. But my individual ability to grow and learn has been always changing and shifting as I have grown. I think that currently, I am at a low
point in my mindset and learning ability, but there is hope on the horizon. This essay will explore the growth and mindset of Will Roser, and how
I can grow as a learner, friend, and individual. As a student, I have some habits that I rely on, both good and bad. I am usually a good student,
receiving above average grades and I am moderately happy with them. My strength is that I always get everything done on time. I never have an
excuse because my work is always done. I pride myself on that fact. And although that may seem like a good quality, the fact that I procrastinate so
much does affect how good that work may be. So yes, I always finish my work which is always a good thing, but it may be at the expense of my sleep
schedule. I tend to do most of my work the day before, despite telling myself over and over again that it needs to be done earlier. Luckily I have hope
for my habits as I am still young. I still have to work on my procrastination but I think that I can improve as long as I start to see the benefits of
starting work early. As William James says in his essayHabit, "The period between twenty and thirty is the critical one in the formation of intellectual

Descriptive Essay About Myself
I find it extremely tough to talk about myself and my personal traits. In order for me to dIscuss who I am in an accurate manner then I must provide
some basic background information on myself and talk about the Environment I grew up in. This way people can get a better understanding of why
I am the way I am. My Background is so essential In making me myself because If I had been born under any different circumstances or grew up any
differently I would be a different person than I am today. I was born inAberdeen Scotland but raised in Fort Bend County Texas. Aberdeen and Fort
Bend both have great opportunities but differ in many ways. One way in which they differ is that Fort Bend is very culturally diverse while in

Her family communicates to one another using spanish or sometimes english. I have always grown up in a family that speaks only english so I find it
interesting to go over to other people's houses and hear them communicating in another language. On top of all of this meeting different people has
also opened my mind to new ideas. For example, in school when we work in group projects we collaborate and communicate with people who think
differently than us then work together to figure out whose ideas will work the best and how to improve them.
Another factor that plays a part in why I am shaped how I am is my family's economic circumstances. I have always had access to anything I
needed and for that I have extreme gratitude because I know some people have a lot of difficulty in life. Since I was born into a family with such
good economic circumstances I have been lucky to have lots of opportunities. One Opportunity I had as a child was participating in taekwondo. I
did taekwondo until I reached a blackbelt which took years of hardwork and dedication. I had to memorize forms, Spar with other competitors and
break boards in order to continue to move up to the next level. Taekwondo also helped keep me in good shape and fit when I was younger. Another
Opportunity I am grateful for is the skill of playing the piano. At first I was not all that enthusiastic about playing it but my parents has signed me up

essay about myself
Hi,
I am an international student from Czech Republic and I am applying for college preparatory boarding school in USA. This is my short essay
(100–200 words), topic is "Tell us about yourself and why you would like to become a part of our school family."
My story is similar like the story of thousand of other children: My father struggled with alcohol and drug problems which caused him to leave my
mother and me, so I grew up with only my mother. Nevertheless, I realized what I want from my life.
Throughout my life, I have heard people constantly repeat that children who grow up with only one parent end up unsuccessful, on drugs or even in
prison. I have decided that I do not want that for me; I will not follow my father's...show more content...
I couldn't get used to the surroundings and couldn't sleep much for days. I also disliked the unfamiliar food given at the boarding house. I missed my
family so much and became depressed. But my parents supported me. They phoned me often, even though they were busy with work. When I was
seeking an advice about school, they suggested me with good ideas. My father mailed a box filled with Japanese sweets, to the Japanese–food–hungry
me. Without my parents support, I would have been depressed for the whole 4 years at the boarding house.
Lastly, I recognized bad characteristics of myself at the boarding house, where many other students live. I'm very stubborn. I get stubborn when I am
choosing for something. For example, I had a small quarrel with my roommates about a shower time because I was being adamant with changing it.
Another characteristic of myself I had realised is that I can get irritated quite easily. I get irritated when something is distracting me when I am
concentrating. For example, I said some rude words at my friend who just came into my room when I was concentrating on my test studies. On top of
that, I became aware that I am lazy. Once I was scolded for not doing the weekly duty allotted. I have recognized many bad parts of my identity, and I
wish to change them in the future.
To conclude, I came to value friends and family with my boarding experience. The things I value is a important part of my identity. I also started to
want to

Essay On Factors Shaping My Life

  • 1. Essay on Factors Shaping My Life Nothing is more important than the concept of us to hold of ourselves. We usually learn our self–images from our experiences, observations, or from experiments. Unfortunately, most people are scared of taking chances on their luck; instead prefer to learn their self–image from the eternal ignorance of their families, society, and their peers. Genetic decomposition does play a major role in human's life. So, my genetic values have helped me considerably throughout my life and helped me to develop my personality. Since from my childhood, I have always been perceived as a popular and cool individual with a mellow personality. This has developed a sense of confidence within me that achieved me trust and respect among all my peers. ...show more content... I was able to fit in with all kinds of people from all different races with no issues. Their generosity has impacted so many people lives that I have started thinking like them and try to help those who are genuinely needy and have trouble to meet with their financial demands. My mother has also played a major role in creating my positive self–image. She pushed me to struggle in life, think high and have respect for myself. She has always encouraged me to participate in athletically active sports, and encourage me to participate in extracurricular activities to develop my defense system strong. Being subjected to these types of influences at early age in such a positive manner, has also given me the desire to instill or play a positive role in the people's lives that are near to me like my sisters. I encouraged them to build a positive self–concept in life. I helped them to acknowledge their genetic disposition so they would be able to take greater benefits of their positive strengths from their parents. Individuals have a drive to look outside images and used them as a reference to physical reality or in comparison to other people. My self–image comprised of watching realistic personalities who have worked distinctly in their fields of professions like any political arena, to any social icon, Sports, or human rights activists. • 2. Example Of Autobiography About Myself Memoir Everyone has their own stories, no matter it is meaningful or not it is their life and their memories. When I told to write a memoir about languages, I could not come up about any ideas. So, I ask Professor for help, my Professor told us that everyone has their own stories and it is interesting, because that is your experiences not ours. People like to hear stories, because it is not their experiences and they want to know what have you been through. Here are little stories about myself. I was born and grow up in China, Tianjin, a big city where just an hour away from Beijing. Since my mom wants to give me a better living environment, and better chance of education; so, we decided to move to US. When I moved to the US in 2012, I was only sixteen years old and barely spoke any English. Even I had learned English for all my school life in China, I still didn't understand when other talking to me. The new life was totally different, it was tough and challenging for me. The new language environment and culture differences were giving me a hard time to fit into this country. When I first came to Chicago; Mother and I went through a great amount of troubles trying to enroll me in a high school. Many schools turned me down because of my lack of English skills. They wrote me a letter and send me to an ESL class at a community college. As soon as my mother settled me down in a small apartment, she left me to work in another state. She needs to make money to support me and our family, so I have no choice to live alone by myself. I was facing the challenge of fending for myself in a totally strange environment, where I didn't know enough English to ask for help. When I was in China, I never had to cook, shop for groceries, and walk to school. For the first time in my life, I had to do everything by myself. I had so little money that I could not afford to eat at restaurants every day. Therefore, I had no choice but to cook for myself. At first, my mother was the only person I can ask for advice. But when it came to practice, it felt ten times harder than it sounds to me. I remember practicing cutting on potatoes. My left fingers were often wrapped with Band–Aids. But I disregarded the pain and kept practicing it Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. My Personal Identity Essay A person's identity is shaped by many different aspects. Family, culture, friends, personal interests and surrounding environments are all factors that tend to help shape a person's identity. Some factors may have more of an influence than others and some may not have any influence at all. As a person grows up in a family, they are influenced by many aspects of their life. Family and culture may influence a person's sense of responsibilities, ethics and morals, tastes in music, humor and sports, and many other aspects of life. Friends and surrounding environments may influence a person's taste in clothing, music, speech, and social activities. Personal interests are what truly set individuals apart. An individual is not a puppet...show more content... Society has had a limited impact on my lifestyle, mostly because I despise trends. The largest trends I despise are rap and hip–hop and the clothing, attitudes, and type of speech that that type of 'music' is breeding. I chose to steer away from that crowd, but it may also be because I live my life off of adrenaline. My high on life is the energy I have when I get my blood pumping, my heart pounding, and my adrenaline raging. Most aspects of my individuality reflect that very well. I love hard, aggressive music, and also guns, but my passion in life is extreme sports, whether it be on a dirt bike, a bmx bike, a snowmobile, or a snowboard. I have a strong set of morals and ethics that I have partly adopted from my parents, but some are also partly my own. My morals mostly consist of karma (being kind, caring, helpful, truthful, and considerate to others), not littering (especially in nature), respecting nature, keeping a clean and welcoming home, success that is measured with happiness and not possessions, and having strong family ties. I feel that I am very strongly rounded individual who is going to go far in life. Many people would agree with that, although some people just think that I am an absolutely crazy person who has a death wish and will not go anywhere but to the hospital or the morgue. Educational experiences also tend to influence a person's identity. I have not had too many educational Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. My Personal Feelings of Self Worth Essay People's self–esteem either high or low is shaped by their life experiences. I believe a person's self–esteem begins to take shape at an early age, with their parents being a major influence. Kind, positive, knowledgeable and caring parents help children create a positive self–image. Parents who do not feel good about themselves or others, sometimes take it out on their childern by belittling them or discouraging them. This leads the child down a path of self–doubt and eventually given the right circumstances a lower self–esteem. My parents where very overprotective which sounds good on the surface, but this caused me to feel unequal to my peers since my parents would not let me play sports or even go on a field trip one time because...show more content... If that was not enough to deal with, I also have red hair and freckles so I was constantly teased about my appearance. All this contributed to my own lack of self–confidence and a feeling that I was not as good as my peers. These are some experiences that have shaped my self–esteem. I do not portend to make excuses for myself; I only want to illustrate that you can let these experiences either motivate you or de–motivate you, the choice is always yours. I let these life experiences de–motivate until I came to the realization that you should not let others determine your fate or what you can achieve. Years ago I read a passage in a book by: "Louise L. Hay" she said; every morning you can get up and look in the mirror and decide what kind of day you are going to have." The beauty of it is, you can get up the following morning and decide all over again. This is a powerful statement, letting us know we have the power to control our feelings and shape our outlook on life. If you are telling yourself positive things, it will help you build a positive self–esteem. Example: Not long ago a golfer on the PGA Tour, was having trouble with his putting, he was losing confidence, it was starting to effect his whole game and his self–esteem since even the TV Announcers, where talking about his putting troubles. He choose to start telling himself that he was a great putter of the golf ball and in a short Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. What I Learned About Myself Essay This class has taught me a lot about myself in such a brief period of time. I never thought I could dig as deep as I did, and have a better understanding of who I am as a person just by writing a single essay. I was not expecting the amount of self–awareness that I gained through this class. I really enjoyed the hermit crab essays, because they really guided me to find my true feelings. It was hard for me to get started writing at first and then once I got started, it was almost impossible to stop. I love the feeling that I am in control of what I am writing and there are no restrictions and that I can be vulnerable in my writing. This class really helped me show the vulnerable side of who I am. I was sometimes moved to tears while I was writing because, I realized things about myself that I never thought to be true before. I would get so excited that I would read it to my boyfriend, family and friends. This class was in no way easy, but it was definitely worth it for many reasons. I learned how to become a better writer, I learned about myself as a person, and I constructed pieces of writing that I didn't know I was capable of. Some assignments became easier as time went on because I became a stronger writer. However, I think the hardest one for me was having to write about the room I was in. It didn't interest me because it didn't help me dig deeper into my feelings or anything of that matter. I also didn't enjoy having to respond to different pieces of writing, because it Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Essay About Myself There are three very important aspects that play a major rule in my life. They can be categorized as intellectual, social, and spiritual. My intellectual self is interesting because I am mainly right–brained which means that I tend to use my creativity more than my mathematical skills, also making me a visual learner. My social self consists of friends, family, and my surroundings. I spend most of my time at home with my family. Whenever I am with my friends, I observe their behaviors and listen to their opinions. The people who affect my social life the most are my family and friends. I have an extremely close family that has played a major role in my life. They are whom I spend most of my spare time with. My family usually gathers every weekend for dinner. I am also very open to different religions, cultures, and practices because I know many people with different backgrounds and beliefs. Since I've been influenced by various people, I've learned at a very young age to never judge people by how they look, dress, feel, or act. I am very fortunate to have learned these lessons, because many people still do not understand the importance of accepting differences. In a group, I prefer to listen to what others have to say, and then contribute to the discussion. I try to listen so I am able to compare them to my own thoughts. I enjoy working in a group, because it gives everyone an opportunity to incorporate their own ideas. My social self is most greatly influenced by my family and friends. I believe that my spiritual self is the most important out of the three. Although I have a certain religion that I belong to and practice, I believe in a bit of Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Usually my diary is just a record of what I have done that day. It's not so much about my feelings. For as long as I can remember, I was the only one in my grade, ever since I started school. But this did not mean I did not have friends. Caterina and I were best friends that year. She was from Venezuela, had white olive skin with long blonde hair, and light eyes. One school day, when we were walking to P.E., she said to me "I like your hair because it stays in place." A little taken back, I was not sure if this a compliment or not, but I said thank you anyway. Her comment had stayed with me for the rest of the day. I began to wonder why my hair grew the way it did and if I could change it. This was, thus the beginning of my insecurities. Going to school every few months with a different hairstyle would raise a few questions for my classmates. Different styles, such as, box braids and marley twists, would change my attitude because I no longer looked the way I felt most of the time, ugly. But because I knew my look was only temporary, I did my best not to draw attention to myself. As I advanced grades, I always hoped there would be someone like me. Not necessarily student. After spending this much time in school, many things and experiences that happened there have left their mark in my memory. Some are small incidences while some have had a great impact on me. However, regardless the degree of significance, things that happened all contributed to shape the person that I am now. I was accused of cheating for the first time when I was seven years old. Through soccer I was able to meet some of my most loyal friends. We would often get together and play soccer against other classes. The school required a test for admission, so the competition was getting fierce. The teachers focused a lot on our academics and tried to squeeze as much time as they can from us to study. As the result, we were not allowed to play soccer during our free time because it hinders us from studying. Maybe it is human tendency to break laws, but the gang of us didn’t want to conform to that rule so sneaking a soccer ball to school and keep it away from the teachers became an everyday challenge. It was amazing the kind of ideas we came up with for this task. Soccer added spices into my otherwise boring school life, and it served as a channel between me and my fellow classmates. Through soccer we found a common ground, that we were able to know each other more and support each other no matter what happens. It gave us a sense of unity, and it was very important to me. Unfortunately for me, my hair did not grow very fast... at all. I was practically bald until I was three; and my hair was only about to my chin when I was ready to start kindergarten. So there I was, on my first day at Foreign Language Academy. I was in SeГ±ora Vargas's Kindergarten class holding on to my mom, dreading the moment she would have to leave. I had been really excited about starting school and getting to wear my navy blue dress and my hellokitty backpack. Actually being in the classroom, however, incredibly nerve racking. Most of the parents were mingling and asking questions to the teacher, while the kids tried to find their place. Some kids had already began to play games with one another. Others, like me, were more shy, still clinging to their parent. In all the commotion, I noticed a girl who had the longest hair in the entire class of kindergartners. She looked a lot like me except she had freckles, a pink cast on her arm, and the hair I had ever seen. Her hair was the same color as mine, but about triple the length, and with more curl in it. I never have an excuse because my work is always done. I pride myself on that fact. And although that may seem like a good quality, the fact that I procrastinate so much does affect how good that work may be. So yes, I always finish my work which is always a good thing, but it may be at the expense of my sleep schedule. I tend to do most of my work the day before, despite telling myself over and over again that it needs to be done earlier. Luckily I have hope for my habits as I am still young. I still have to work on my procrastination but I think that I can improve as long as I start to see the benefits of starting work early. As William James says in his essayHabit, "The period between twenty and thirty is the critical one in the formation of intellectual and Get more content on HelpWriting.net

This way people can get a better understanding of why I am the way I am. My Background is so essential In making me myself because If I had been born under any different circumstances or grew up any differently I would be a different person than I am today. I was born inAberdeen Scotland but raised in Fort Bend County Texas. Aberdeen and Fort Bend both have great opportunities but differ in many ways. I have always grown up in a family that speaks only english so I find it interesting to go over to other people's houses and hear them communicating in another language. On top of all of this meeting different people has also opened my mind to new ideas. For example, in school when we work in group projects we collaborate and communicate with people who think differently than us then work together to figure out whose ideas will work the best and how to improve them. Another factor that plays a part in why I am shaped how I am is my family's economic circumstances. I have always had access to anything I needed and for that I have extreme gratitude because I know some people have a lot of difficulty in life. Since I was born into a family with such good economic circumstances I have been lucky to have lots of opportunities. One Opportunity I had as a child was participating in taekwondo. I did taekwondo until I reached a blackbelt which took years of hardwork and dedication. I had to memorize forms, Spar with other competitors and break boards in order to continue to move up to the next level. Taekwondo also helped keep me in good shape and fit when I was younger. This is my short essay (100–200 words), topic is "Tell us about yourself and why you would like to become a part of our school family." My story is similar like the story of thousand of other children: My father struggled with alcohol and drug problems which caused him to leave my mother and me, so I grew up with only my mother. Nevertheless, I realized what I want from my life. Throughout my life, I have heard people constantly repeat that children who grow up with only one parent end up unsuccessful, on drugs or even in prison. I have decided that I do not want that for me; I will not follow my father's...show more content... I couldn't get used to the surroundings and couldn't sleep much for days. I also disliked the unfamiliar food given at the boarding house. I missed my family so much and became depressed. But my parents supported me. They phoned me often, even though they were busy with work. When I was seeking an advice about school, they suggested me with good ideas. My father mailed a box filled with Japanese sweets, to the Japanese–food–hungry me. Without my parents support, I would have been depressed for the whole 4 years at the boarding house. Lastly, I recognized bad characteristics of myself at the boarding house, where many other students live. I'm very stubborn. I get stubborn when I am choosing for something. For example, I had a small quarrel with my roommates about a shower time because I was being adamant with changing it. Another characteristic of myself I had realised is that I can get irritated quite easily. I get irritated when something is distracting me when I am concentrating. For example, I said some rude words at my friend who just came into my room when I was concentrating on my test studies. On top of that, I became aware that I am lazy. Once I was scolded for not doing the weekly duty allotted. I have recognized many bad parts of my identity, and I wish to change them in the future. To conclude, I came to value friends and family with my boarding experience. The things I value is a important part of my identity. I also started to want to
