Winter Descriptive Writing
Icy October
It was halloween on an icy October day. As soon as I stepped out door 5 I felt a rush of ice cold wind blow over my face, ears, nose and torso. As I
forgot a thick sweatshirt, I was only equipped with a paper thin Вј zip sweatshirt. Roaming up and down the brook I was overwhelmed by water
seamlessly flowing through the underpass, autumn leaves rustling in the air, wet and dry patches of earth. I felt the icy air flow in through my nose
as I took a breath and observed the water vapor come from my breath. I am frozen. Tightly, I held my my paper as if it was my iPhone over a 10 story
bridge and explore the real outdoors.
All my life I have had a strong connection with nature. As I was a young boy there was only one thing I loved about winter; the snow. Winter time is a
time of family and giving but greater than that, a sense of enjoyment. An icy December day I was out doing "work", there was much to be done
before sunfall. Sunday started with a early morning pond practice. I was dragged out of bed by a screaming 6:10 am alarm. My day was started. I
consumed a hearty breakfast of 3 scrambled eggs and apple cinnamon oatmeal before departing to the arena. Skates tied, stick taped, jersey fastened,
helmet clipped: I was ready to go. As the sun rose, my stomach groaned and that was our clue to go. I arrived home to my mother and sister awake
and snow falling. After a few hours at the pond I needed more fuel: bacon and hashbrowns. The remaining of that day was spent

Descriptive Essay About Skiing
People love skiing. The escape it brings to everyday life, the scenery that makes you catch your breath at every turn, and the adrenaline it gives you
when you convince yourself you are good enough for a black run. Skiing is one of the most beautiful activates to watch especially when a skier hits a
corner just right and the fresh snows scatters in every direction perfectly giving that skier an amazing picture worthy moment. I know people who
would trade their souls to just leave and ski on a gorgeous mountain for a day. Well I am not one of those people. I can handle skiing occasionally for
shorts amount of time and don't get me wrong I love skiing. I am just not good at it which brings an unenthusiastic opinion to the activity. So,
when my family's yearly ritual to go skiing for three days in a row came around I was excitedly dragging my feet. The skiing trip tradition my
entire dad's side of the family participates in kind of just happened. I don't remember what started it or even when it started actually when I think
about it. Just that it started and this particular day was day 3 of the 3 days of skiing. I was already exhausted, my ankles ached for relaxation and
my back growled constantly at my inability to not tense up when going down a run. Even though the only runs I even go on are green. Always
green. In fact, I remember when one of my aunts basically forced me to go on a blue run but I am not going to go into that it's too painful of a
memory. I was slow too

Descriptive Essay On My Winter Trip
There's nothing better than streaming down a mountain filled with snow, ski tips pointed straight, and reaching a maximum velocity. For me, an annual
ski trip in the mountains is an irreplaceable event. The only problem with these trips is living in Kansas. At best, I must travel 8 tedious hours by car to
the West to obtain my ideal vacation. And the returntrip is even worse because the fun is over, your body and patience is exhausted, and you
understand the long week of catching up on "to do" lists that will follow. Most often, the excitement of the trip far outweighs the tedious trip home,
but in January of 2013, I might have been convinced otherwise as my trip home was filled with speeding tickets, car problems, cramped spaces, and
almost six extra hours of travel. As my groups last day of skiing at Wolf Creek Ski Resort came to an end, we went to bed in good time in hopes of
leaving very early the next morning for an equally early return to Newton. As the driver, I was diligently driving through the twisting and turning
mountains with a purpose. For those who have driven in the mountains before, you are well aware of the difficulties of maintaining a constant speed
through steep grades of terrain. And sure enough, almost 2 hours into our trip home, I see a highway patrolman make a U–Turn, flip on his lights, and I
found myself pulling over my car. Cited for going too fast down the mountain, a very rude and argumentative patrolman did not see validity in my

After 8 hours of traveling it came down to this. Being in a confined space for so long, and having to keep popping my ears because of different
altitudes. It was in this moment, I realized, that this house in a small neighborhood in the middle of a forest in the middle of nowhere, I realized, this
feels like my second home. I hopped out of the car after a two–hour drive from the airport. My muscles felt reviled from sitting in a squished
environment multiple times. I've seen my grandparents house multiple times, but not in the winter since I was six. The patches of fluffy snow enriched
the ground to make it feel like a winter wonderland. The trees swayed with the wind, and the birds were singing their hearts away. The crunching
sound from the snow while we walked to the door, made the dog, Casey, jump in excitement. Just imagine, a huge black lab hurling towards you, and
you bracing for impact. Well, Casey still thinks she is a puppy, she is not, so having a dog pile on top of me, was just fantastic. Getting up from the
floor, I walked to the window carefully. Looking at the winter wonderland, I couldn't wait to get outside. The crunching sound reappeared when my feet
lift off the wood porch to the snow. The sunshine wisped out of the trees and hitting the snow, making the snow shine. I leaned down and touching the
snow with my bare hand, forming a clumpy snowball just to throw in the distance to see how far it goes. The snowball stayed together until it hit the
ground. The

Descriptive Essay: The 2010 Winter Olympic Games
I find it difficult to believe that it has been 6 years since we hosted the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. It seems like only yesterday to me. I am and
forever will be an "Olympic Junkie." I simply can't get enough of the Games, the athlete's stories and this incredible display of excellence in sport.
Every four year I find myself captivated by the Games. As my personal homage to the Winter Games, it seemed only fitting to visit Cypress Mountain
to reflect upon those wonderful moments of 2010.
I decided to sneak out of the office a little bit early and enjoy a mid–week afternoon adventure along the Ancient Giants Trail. Don't let the snowdrops,
crocuses and early blossoms fool you, there is still plenty of snow to be had! Naturally, the snowpack has been reduced due to the recent heavy rains,
but the trails are still in relatively good shape and now is the time to take advantage of them. My trek began along the Hollyburn Meadows trail. The
interpretive sign on the trail notes that below the 10 to 20 feet of snow lies terrain so thick with blueberry bushes that during the summer months the
route is almost impassable. The trail continues on to the western shore of First Lake and the Hollyburn Lodge. Built in 1926, this historic building is
rich in history and a popular destination for cross country skiers and snowshoers alike....show more content...

Descriptive Essay About Winter
Winter is and will always be my most unliked and most undesirable season. In my opinion, there's literally no redeeming qualities about winter, and
that includes snow days. The cold is irritating, the snow is infuriating, and especially the ice is aggravating. I used to enjoy winter, but ever since
winter almost killed me, my pessimism sees no end when December comes around. "Griffin, you're in charge!" Yells my mother, 30 feet from my
room upstairs. "Yeah, alright. Have fun." My mother and father left the house lighting fast in order to make the most out of their date night. Now, I
was finally alone. All alone in our new, small house of ours with one objective dead set inmind: go to GameStop and get the new game I want. Being
dead set on getting this game turned out to be my downfall and my biggest mistake. Outside, it's inky black and 10 degrees. Snow covers
everything, and ice covers the ground like glaze on a donut, like cream cheese on a bagel, or alike to the frosting of a cake. Every step has a
billion percent to slip and fall down all the way to China. With $45 in my pocket, a big winter coat, fat snow pants, and my sunglasses, I start my
trip to GameStop, and immediately regretting my decision. This trip would prove to be ruthless to 11 year old me. I walked outside, and the cold
hit me immediately. My destination is pretty far from my house, so I felt as if I were going to be walking for forever. More realistically, GameStop is
only 2 hours for the round trip

Descriptive Essay On Summer And Winter
It's four o'clock on a rainy, autumn, Monday afternoon. I've chosen my location to be my room in my apartment at 2224 Blowing Rock Rd. The
window is always left open due to my admiration for the regular sounds that occur outside my building. This location makes me feel comfortable,
calm, and upbeat. Not only did I specifically pick out the place and time for this assignment I really aimed to write this while the weather was accenting
autumn, wet and windy. Nothing is more relaxing than a nice cup of coffee in the comforts of your own bed while the wind and rain serenade you. The
whole season of fall makes me feel warm and content. Thoreau wrote "The indescribable innocence and beneficence of Nature, ––– of the sun and wind
and rain, of summer and winter, ––– such health, such cheer, they afford forever! And such sympathy have they ever with our race, that all nature
would be affected, and the suns brightness fade, and the winds would sigh humanely, and the clouds rain tears, and the woods shed their leaves
and put on mourning in midsummer, if any man should ever for just a cause grieve" (Solitude, 110). Within the room itself, I can hear a few
distinct sounds around me. A faint melody of jazz can be heard on a radio in the corner. Music helps me focus on whatever work I have for the
night. Although I have turned the radio down in order to hear other sounds for this assignment, I can still hear small claps of a beat and an upbeat
squeak of some kind of horn. Attached to my curtains are a string of old bells. The wind is picking up today and every time it blows a small gust
through my window the curtain moves and the bells dance along it. They sound like tiny cow bells. The wind has also picked a fight with a small
candle on one of my tables. I can hear the flickers of the flame trying to stay lit as well as it possibly can. And of course, the most apparent sound in
the room is the tapping and clicking of my laptop keys as I write this. Outside of my window, there are several different layers of sound all unique to
each other. The first layer come from the immediate parking lot in front and the whole apartment complex itself. I can hear bustling neighbors all
around; faint laughs, doors shutting, cars

Snowman Descriptive Writing
A warm cocoon of thick afghan blankets is shed exposing my skin to the frigid air. The darkness has painted a black coat of paint over my eyes
rendering them useless. Guided by the walls, I descend down my staircase; it creaks beneath my exposed feet. A sliver of light reaches my pupils,
awakening them, and leads me closer to the source of illumination, red and green bulbs twinkling on our Christmas tree. My sister, wearing purple
sweatpants with a copious amount of holes, is awake and sitting on the lazy boy recliner. My parents, lethargic and coffee in hand, sit down next to
my sister. Like an eagle mercycily attacks its prey and wrapping paper is red with snowmen. The Christmas tree is shining brightly. I rip the package

Descriptive Essay About The Winter
Every year during the winter season my family and I go up to Big Bear Mountain. My mom has this great idea that bringing me, my brother, and two
sisters to a mountain covered in snow will help us bond together since we are out in "nature". Now I can say that I have been to Big Bear many times
throughout my years, and have seen the good winter seasons as well as the bad. From having very little snow on the resort, to having the mountain
covered in fresh powdery white snow all around. Most of all is that the winter climate in California can be quite different each time. Throughout my
experiences with my family at the resort, and I didn't really notice at first, but the weather is about the only thing in Big Bear that happens naturally.
The first time my family went up to Big Bear Resort was about 13 years ago. I was excited and determined to do well at snowboarding. It was early in
the morning as we headed on our adventure to the ski resort. We approached the resort and I saw hundreds of cars gathered around the icy resort to
find parking. As my family and I began to get out of the car, I first noticed how cold it was. As soon as the thin freezing air had touched the open
skin from my hands and face, it sent goosebumps straight down my spine as I shivered. I could even see my breath in every breath I took! All white
around me, the snow covered the floor with its ice and fluffy snow.
The resort has about seven ski lifts throughout the mountain and each one takes you slowly

Winter Descriptive Writing
It was a flurry and cold winter day, the kind of day when every breath stings the lungs and every exhale chills the lips. Living in Iowa, I was used to
the frigid winter, but this unsuspecting day would forever change Emily Kriz. My mother and I had just entered the frosted glass doors at our local
Michaels after having the usual tedious chat about keeping your hands to yourself and looking with our eyes, not our hands. I acted as though I was
listening, adding in subtle head nods as I watched each individual snowflake fall crisply onto the ground, as if each had a strict road map to a
anticipated location. Upon entering, we saw a winter wonderland. The fragrance of frosted pine wafted through the nipping air that had snuck in from
the outdoors and tingled my petite fingers and toes. With every blink of the eye there was something newfangled and wondrous to look at. It had
seemed as though Michaels was decorated for a gala, with only the finest and most stunning decorations on display, but with every piece of pristine
decor in is precise spot. We browsed the aisles, with each aisle as colorful and exciting as the rest. We were nearing the end of the isles when I saw
it, a display of candles that drew my eyes in like no other. My mom had turned her cart down the aisle filled with all the eyeful winter floral pieces,
and at this moment I knew it was my time to do what I had been told not to, I needed to reach out and smell one of those candles that had tunneled my
vision. I

Descriptive Writing Snow
The first snowfall of the year had finally arrived one late November night, blanketing the small cabin and surrounding forest with fresh, powdery snow.
The wind howled through the leafless trees, often relieving the weighed down branches of their snowy burden. The smooth and unblemished snow
coated everything, leaving the road to the cabin indistinguishable from the surrounding terrain.
I lazily stared out a large pane window until my gaze locked on a truck, slowly removing the snow on the winding road with its bright yellow plow. I
jumped up from the warm couch, running across the dark, hardwood floors of the living room and onto the gray tiles of the kitchen.
My mother stood at the wood paneled island in the kitchen, her dark hair pulled

Descriptive Essay About Spring
Spring is such a wonderful and joyful season. The air begins to warm, and the temperature rises slowly. Not only that, but the days seem to be getting
longer as well. As the snow begins to melt in northern America, the lovely flowers begin to bud and the flies begin to come out. The tree buds starts
greening and preparing itself to grow. The air smells different as opposed towinter, it smells fresh and alive. Spring wraps up winter, and leads on to
the hot and humid season called summer. Spring is the season that prepares itself for the next season, as forestry is starting to grow and thrive. The
animal kingdom also uses spring to mate. The bears that were hibernating no longer have to hibernate. The smell of freshly cut grass also goes through
the warm spring air.
The grouchy people of winter also start to become happy again. Most people dislike winter as it cold and the driving condition are not great.
However in spring, everything is having life, or coming back to life; as well as their spirits. Spring is finally the time where people can finally eat
outside, open up the window to let fresh air in. Nothing is better than seeing the neon green trees and grass shining through the low amounts of snow
that might still be left behind by Mother Nature. The farming trade also begins in spring; the farmers begin to plant their vegetables so they can
harvest them when the time is right. Spring also has a very nice holiday, Easter. Families gather at each other's houses and

Descriptive Essay On Winter And Summers
During winters and summers I often walk the same path through the northern woods down to the lake. It is gorgeous in the summer time, the
trees are in full bloom and I can hear the leaves rustling in the wind and crunching under your feet. The view was even better, however, in the
winter. All the trees are bare and every branch is covered in snow and ice. It seems like I can see through the woods forever because there is
nothing blocking my view. Once I get down to the lake and walk out onto the dock, no matter if it is summer or winter, it is always a breathtaking
view. This is what I remember about visiting my grandparents. It is one of my favorite memories growing up. I love going to see my grandparents
because everything is different from where I live. You have to drive at least 20 minutes to get into town before there is any stores, restaurants, gas
stations, or anything else. They will always be some of my favorite people to visit. I often stay in the same tiny guest bedroom that they have there.
My grandparents have a strong liking of birds and have multiple bird decorations throughout the house. There is even a clock in the kitchen which has a
different bird picture for every hour. I never really found birds interesting, but when I sit at their kitchen table with them overlooking the wooded yard
through the bay window, suddenly I was interested just like them. Sometimes I watch the hummingbirds come up to the window, and drink the juice
that my grandma put in a

Essay on The Joys of Winter
A cold, depressing, long period of time where people are upset and broke from the cost of happiness; runny noses, cheeks rosy and never feeling
dressed warm enough: Is it really the most wonderful time of the year? In my eyes, it is. Winter to me; is something completely different. A time
where you wake up snuggled up with the heat blaring, a time where everything around you takes your breath away and a time where what you have is
cherished most. What is truly so great about winter? The atmosphere changes, the spirituality really stands out due to Christmas and happiness is like the
flu that we all manage to catch. The atmosphere in the winter, and especially at Christmas is incredible. The mood that is given off and the feel of it

Something about winter just sends off that vibe, the vibe of closeness, love and true meaning of life. I can't get enough of this specific time of the
year, because it's when most people come to know the Lord. It's the time when family gathers together to come watch the Christmas plays, see the
nativity scene displays and celebrate Jesus' birth. This is the time when it hits most people, the realization of eternal life. This is such a huge part of
my life and my experiences in my household. Also, I love being a part of the plays and all the fun activities in my church; it's when I feel most
comfortable and sure of whom I truly am.
Lastly, I feel a real closeness in the wintertime. I always have such a secure, safe, warm feeling because of my family. Every year we have our
many traditions. The second week of December we go on a sleigh ride, debate for hours on our perfect tree and I usually saw it down, with
assistance from my dad of course. We then drink some hot chocolate. Now, it's decorating day. The day we get out the ornaments. Mom puts the
garland on and decorates the house, I put the tinsel on with my brother; Matt, Dad puts on the lights; then we all pick our favourite ornaments and start
the adventure. We always have a cute Christmas CD playing and eat delicious treats. Now, it's Christmas Eve. We watch a traditional Christmas movie;
usually moms favourite "It's a Wonderful Life", and then we set out on the best part of it all; my absolute

Essay A Winter Snow
A Winter Snow When I think back upon the memories of my childhood, I clearly recall a specific winter afternoon at my grandmother's house. It is
an especially cold day, I remember. I am dressed in two pairs of thick socks, two sweatshirts, a heavy winter coat, and my bright pink rain boots. I am
nine years old, and to me, winter snow is pure magic. As I step out onto my grandmother's back porch, I remember losing my breath, not only from
the bitter cold, but also from the captivating scene. I am immediately taken aback by the view. The entire ground, as far as my eyes can see, is coated
in a hefty blanket of solid white. The light seems to dance atop the snow, making it glitter wherever the sun shines. All the trees around are...show more

Extending my arms and legs as far as they can reach, I begin making a snow angel. I can feel the cold wet of the earth making its way through the
gloves on my hands. I rise off the ground to look at my creation, and just next to my angel wings, I find tiny animal paw prints. Curious, I am instantly
set to investigate. I follow the paw prints around the perimeter of the yard and stumble on the perpetrator. I find my grandmother's dog, Chip, a few
yards away, leaping into the air in a desperate attempt to catch snowflakes in his mouth. The paw prints undeniably belong to him. In fascination with
the rare weather, I close my eyes in order to focus on the sound of the day. I listen intently. The sound is so overwhelmingly peaceful. Silence, yet
there is much to hear. I hear to the sparse leaves gently rattling in the breeze. In the distance, I hear a bird singing its joyful melody. I hear the
snapping together of Chip's jaws after yet another failed attempt to taste the falling snowflakes. Laughing, I hear the pattering of his feet against the
snow as he ran cheerfully. Abruptly, the sound of the back door opening snaps me out of my trance. My grandmother appears in the doorway to
announce that dinner is ready. She has prepared soup. It is in this moment that I feel my stomach rumble. I had been so caught up in exploring the
snow that I did not even notice my hunger. With the door ajar, I can smell the hot soup on the stove. My

Descriptive Essay About Snow
It was a cold day, so cold that your arms start to sting as if a needle is impaling the surface of your skin. The wind applies a force which feels as if your
face is oozing with thick crimson red blood. The gray puffy clouds covered the sky and dropped small snowflakes onto the road's surface. A man stood
there, freezing, clearing the coat of thick white snow from the concrete road. His nose runs with a river of snot that floods out when the cold wind
strikes. His sense of smell is heavily clogged by the slimy snot, but he can still smell the scent of the steamy hot chocolate which sits on the top of
his snow covered car. His feet start to numb because of the cold flood which soaks through his boots to his white, silky socks. His feet feel as if he
stepped into the freezing cold ocean. As if he fell through ice and he was stuck standing there. The vast pile of the ice white snow feels almost like a
quicksand around his black rubber boot. Foggy figures of people shovel the big piles of snow off the sidewalks. They scrape and pick at the glossy
white ice which sticks to the sidewalk like a little boy clinging to his mother's side. His feet still sting as if he was stepping on pins and needles. His
hands are damp with sweat from grasping the curved metal shaft attached to a socket which holds the blade. The blade cuts holes into the thick
powdered snow which is removed from the endless pile. The jet black shovel is filled with slushy snow and crystal shards of ice. The end of

Descriptive Essay On Winter Or Winter
In mid April of 2017, during the spring break, my mom and I went to Colorado for the first time to go skiing at Winter Park. Most of my family
skis, with the exception of my dad. He tried it once before but didn't enjoy it. So when we decided to go to Colorado, it was just my mom and I
going together. I was so excited to go there because it was one of the places in the U.S. that I really wanted to visit. Plus, I would be skiing, which
is my favorite thing to do in the winter or spring. I was looking forward to this trip so much that I became almost impatient, wishing that we could
leave as soon as possible. My mom and I spent hours trying to find the best plane ticket prices a few weeks before. We had a difficult time finding
planes that had the right departure and arrival times. We couldn't arrive too late because the closest airport was in Denver, and we had to drive about two
hours to Winter Park Resort which was also where our hotel was located. It was a hassle but eventually we were able to decide on which planes to
travel on. We then packed our bags with gear for skiing. Some essential gear included helmets, goggles, gloves, base layers, fleece tops, snowpants, ski
socks, ski socks, and jackets. Skis, poles, and boots weren't necessary because we were going to rent them at the resort. It would've been too much
equipment to carry along with us.
When we arrived at Denver International Airport, my mom and I went to Subway to buy a few sandwiches for the car ride.

Fresh white snow falling from the sky, hitting my face as i walk through the bumpy road losing my mind. As walking through the road i look up to

Winter Descriptive Writing

  • 1. Winter Descriptive Writing Icy October It was halloween on an icy October day. As soon as I stepped out door 5 I felt a rush of ice cold wind blow over my face, ears, nose and torso. As I forgot a thick sweatshirt, I was only equipped with a paper thin Вј zip sweatshirt. Roaming up and down the brook I was overwhelmed by water seamlessly flowing through the underpass, autumn leaves rustling in the air, wet and dry patches of earth. I felt the icy air flow in through my nose as I took a breath and observed the water vapor come from my breath. I am frozen. Tightly, I held my my paper as if it was my iPhone over a 10 story bridge and explore the real outdoors. All my life I have had a strong connection with nature. As I was a young boy there was only one thing I loved about winter; the snow. Winter time is a time of family and giving but greater than that, a sense of enjoyment. An icy December day I was out doing "work", there was much to be done before sunfall. Sunday started with a early morning pond practice. I was dragged out of bed by a screaming 6:10 am alarm. My day was started. I consumed a hearty breakfast of 3 scrambled eggs and apple cinnamon oatmeal before departing to the arena. Skates tied, stick taped, jersey fastened, helmet clipped: I was ready to go. As the sun rose, my stomach groaned and that was our clue to go. I arrived home to my mother and sister awake and snow falling. After a few hours at the pond I needed more fuel: bacon and hashbrowns. The remaining of that day was spent Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Descriptive Essay About Skiing People love skiing. The escape it brings to everyday life, the scenery that makes you catch your breath at every turn, and the adrenaline it gives you when you convince yourself you are good enough for a black run. Skiing is one of the most beautiful activates to watch especially when a skier hits a corner just right and the fresh snows scatters in every direction perfectly giving that skier an amazing picture worthy moment. I know people who would trade their souls to just leave and ski on a gorgeous mountain for a day. Well I am not one of those people. I can handle skiing occasionally for shorts amount of time and don't get me wrong I love skiing. I am just not good at it which brings an unenthusiastic opinion to the activity. So, when my family's yearly ritual to go skiing for three days in a row came around I was excitedly dragging my feet. The skiing trip tradition my entire dad's side of the family participates in kind of just happened. I don't remember what started it or even when it started actually when I think about it. Just that it started and this particular day was day 3 of the 3 days of skiing. I was already exhausted, my ankles ached for relaxation and my back growled constantly at my inability to not tense up when going down a run. Even though the only runs I even go on are green. Always green. In fact, I remember when one of my aunts basically forced me to go on a blue run but I am not going to go into that it's too painful of a memory. I was slow too Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Descriptive Essay On My Winter Trip There's nothing better than streaming down a mountain filled with snow, ski tips pointed straight, and reaching a maximum velocity. For me, an annual ski trip in the mountains is an irreplaceable event. The only problem with these trips is living in Kansas. At best, I must travel 8 tedious hours by car to the West to obtain my ideal vacation. And the returntrip is even worse because the fun is over, your body and patience is exhausted, and you understand the long week of catching up on "to do" lists that will follow. Most often, the excitement of the trip far outweighs the tedious trip home, but in January of 2013, I might have been convinced otherwise as my trip home was filled with speeding tickets, car problems, cramped spaces, and almost six extra hours of travel. As my groups last day of skiing at Wolf Creek Ski Resort came to an end, we went to bed in good time in hopes of leaving very early the next morning for an equally early return to Newton. As the driver, I was diligently driving through the twisting and turning mountains with a purpose. For those who have driven in the mountains before, you are well aware of the difficulties of maintaining a constant speed through steep grades of terrain. And sure enough, almost 2 hours into our trip home, I see a highway patrolman make a U–Turn, flip on his lights, and I found myself pulling over my car. Cited for going too fast down the mountain, a very rude and argumentative patrolman did not see validity in my Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Winter Descriptive Writing After 8 hours of traveling it came down to this. Being in a confined space for so long, and having to keep popping my ears because of different altitudes. It was in this moment, I realized, that this house in a small neighborhood in the middle of a forest in the middle of nowhere, I realized, this feels like my second home. I hopped out of the car after a two–hour drive from the airport. My muscles felt reviled from sitting in a squished environment multiple times. I've seen my grandparents house multiple times, but not in the winter since I was six. The patches of fluffy snow enriched the ground to make it feel like a winter wonderland. The trees swayed with the wind, and the birds were singing their hearts away. The crunching sound from the snow while we walked to the door, made the dog, Casey, jump in excitement. Just imagine, a huge black lab hurling towards you, and you bracing for impact. Well, Casey still thinks she is a puppy, she is not, so having a dog pile on top of me, was just fantastic. Getting up from the floor, I walked to the window carefully. Looking at the winter wonderland, I couldn't wait to get outside. The crunching sound reappeared when my feet lift off the wood porch to the snow. The sunshine wisped out of the trees and hitting the snow, making the snow shine. I leaned down and touching the snow with my bare hand, forming a clumpy snowball just to throw in the distance to see how far it goes. The snowball stayed together until it hit the ground. • 5. Descriptive Essay: The 2010 Winter Olympic Games I find it difficult to believe that it has been 6 years since we hosted the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. It seems like only yesterday to me. I am and forever will be an "Olympic Junkie." I simply can't get enough of the Games, the athlete's stories and this incredible display of excellence in sport. Every four year I find myself captivated by the Games. As my personal homage to the Winter Games, it seemed only fitting to visit Cypress Mountain to reflect upon those wonderful moments of 2010. I decided to sneak out of the office a little bit early and enjoy a mid–week afternoon adventure along the Ancient Giants Trail. Don't let the snowdrops, crocuses and early blossoms fool you, there is still plenty of snow to be had! Naturally, the snowpack has been reduced due to the recent heavy rains, but the trails are still in relatively good shape and now is the time to take advantage of them. My trek began along the Hollyburn Meadows trail. The interpretive sign on the trail notes that below the 10 to 20 feet of snow lies terrain so thick with blueberry bushes that during the summer months the route is almost impassable. The trail continues on to the western shore of First Lake and the Hollyburn Lodge. Built in 1926, this historic building is rich in history and a popular destination for cross country skiers and snowshoers alike....show more content... • 6. Descriptive Essay About Winter Winter is and will always be my most unliked and most undesirable season. In my opinion, there's literally no redeeming qualities about winter, and that includes snow days. The cold is irritating, the snow is infuriating, and especially the ice is aggravating. I used to enjoy winter, but ever since winter almost killed me, my pessimism sees no end when December comes around. "Griffin, you're in charge!" Yells my mother, 30 feet from my room upstairs. "Yeah, alright. Have fun." My mother and father left the house lighting fast in order to make the most out of their date night. Now, I was finally alone. All alone in our new, small house of ours with one objective dead set inmind: go to GameStop and get the new game I want. Being dead set on getting this game turned out to be my downfall and my biggest mistake. Outside, it's inky black and 10 degrees. Snow covers everything, and ice covers the ground like glaze on a donut, like cream cheese on a bagel, or alike to the frosting of a cake. Every step has a billion percent to slip and fall down all the way to China. With $45 in my pocket, a big winter coat, fat snow pants, and my sunglasses, I start my trip to GameStop, and immediately regretting my decision. This trip would prove to be ruthless to 11 year old me. I walked outside, and the cold hit me immediately. My destination is pretty far from my house, so I felt as if I were going to be walking for forever. More realistically, GameStop is only 2 hours for the round trip Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Descriptive Essay On Summer And Winter It's four o'clock on a rainy, autumn, Monday afternoon. I've chosen my location to be my room in my apartment at 2224 Blowing Rock Rd. The window is always left open due to my admiration for the regular sounds that occur outside my building. This location makes me feel comfortable, calm, and upbeat. Not only did I specifically pick out the place and time for this assignment I really aimed to write this while the weather was accenting autumn, wet and windy. Nothing is more relaxing than a nice cup of coffee in the comforts of your own bed while the wind and rain serenade you. The whole season of fall makes me feel warm and content. Thoreau wrote "The indescribable innocence and beneficence of Nature, ––– of the sun and wind and rain, of summer and winter, ––– such health, such cheer, they afford forever! And such sympathy have they ever with our race, that all nature would be affected, and the suns brightness fade, and the winds would sigh humanely, and the clouds rain tears, and the woods shed their leaves and put on mourning in midsummer, if any man should ever for just a cause grieve" (Solitude, 110). Within the room itself, I can hear a few distinct sounds around me. A faint melody of jazz can be heard on a radio in the corner. Music helps me focus on whatever work I have for the night. Although I have turned the radio down in order to hear other sounds for this assignment, I can still hear small claps of a beat and an upbeat squeak of some kind of horn. Attached to my curtains are a string of old bells. The wind is picking up today and every time it blows a small gust through my window the curtain moves and the bells dance along it. They sound like tiny cow bells. The wind has also picked a fight with a small candle on one of my tables. I can hear the flickers of the flame trying to stay lit as well as it possibly can. And of course, the most apparent sound in the room is the tapping and clicking of my laptop keys as I write this. Outside of my window, there are several different layers of sound all unique to each other. The first layer come from the immediate parking lot in front and the whole apartment complex itself. I can hear bustling neighbors all around; faint laughs, doors shutting, cars Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Snowman Descriptive Writing A warm cocoon of thick afghan blankets is shed exposing my skin to the frigid air. The darkness has painted a black coat of paint over my eyes rendering them useless. Guided by the walls, I descend down my staircase; it creaks beneath my exposed feet. A sliver of light reaches my pupils, awakening them, and leads me closer to the source of illumination, red and green bulbs twinkling on our Christmas tree. My sister, wearing purple sweatpants with a copious amount of holes, is awake and sitting on the lazy boy recliner. My parents, lethargic and coffee in hand, sit down next to my sister. Like an eagle mercycily attacks its prey and wrapping paper is red with snowmen. The Christmas tree is shining brightly. I rip the package open quickly, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Descriptive Essay About The Winter Every year during the winter season my family and I go up to Big Bear Mountain. My mom has this great idea that bringing me, my brother, and two sisters to a mountain covered in snow will help us bond together since we are out in "nature". Now I can say that I have been to Big Bear many times throughout my years, and have seen the good winter seasons as well as the bad. From having very little snow on the resort, to having the mountain covered in fresh powdery white snow all around. Most of all is that the winter climate in California can be quite different each time. Throughout my experiences with my family at the resort, and I didn't really notice at first, but the weather is about the only thing in Big Bear that happens naturally. The first time my family went up to Big Bear Resort was about 13 years ago. I was excited and determined to do well at snowboarding. It was early in the morning as we headed on our adventure to the ski resort. We approached the resort and I saw hundreds of cars gathered around the icy resort to find parking. As my family and I began to get out of the car, I first noticed how cold it was. As soon as the thin freezing air had touched the open skin from my hands and face, it sent goosebumps straight down my spine as I shivered. I could even see my breath in every breath I took! All white around me, the snow covered the floor with its ice and fluffy snow. The resort has about seven ski lifts throughout the mountain and each one takes you slowly Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Winter Descriptive Writing It was a flurry and cold winter day, the kind of day when every breath stings the lungs and every exhale chills the lips. Living in Iowa, I was used to the frigid winter, but this unsuspecting day would forever change Emily Kriz. My mother and I had just entered the frosted glass doors at our local Michaels after having the usual tedious chat about keeping your hands to yourself and looking with our eyes, not our hands. I acted as though I was listening, adding in subtle head nods as I watched each individual snowflake fall crisply onto the ground, as if each had a strict road map to a anticipated location. Upon entering, we saw a winter wonderland. The fragrance of frosted pine wafted through the nipping air that had snuck in from the outdoors and tingled my petite fingers and toes. With every blink of the eye there was something newfangled and wondrous to look at. It had seemed as though Michaels was decorated for a gala, with only the finest and most stunning decorations on display, but with every piece of pristine decor in is precise spot. We browsed the aisles, with each aisle as colorful and exciting as the rest. We were nearing the end of the isles when I saw it, a display of candles that drew my eyes in like no other. My mom had turned her cart down the aisle filled with all the eyeful winter floral pieces, and at this moment I knew it was my time to do what I had been told not to, I needed to reach out and smell one of those candles that had tunneled my vision. • 11. Descriptive Writing Snow The first snowfall of the year had finally arrived one late November night, blanketing the small cabin and surrounding forest with fresh, powdery snow. The wind howled through the leafless trees, often relieving the weighed down branches of their snowy burden. The smooth and unblemished snow coated everything, leaving the road to the cabin indistinguishable from the surrounding terrain. I lazily stared out a large pane window until my gaze locked on a truck, slowly removing the snow on the winding road with its bright yellow plow. I jumped up from the warm couch, running across the dark, hardwood floors of the living room and onto the gray tiles of the kitchen. My mother stood at the wood paneled island in the kitchen, her dark hair pulled Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Descriptive Essay About Spring Spring is such a wonderful and joyful season. The air begins to warm, and the temperature rises slowly. Not only that, but the days seem to be getting longer as well. As the snow begins to melt in northern America, the lovely flowers begin to bud and the flies begin to come out. The tree buds starts greening and preparing itself to grow. The air smells different as opposed towinter, it smells fresh and alive. Spring wraps up winter, and leads on to the hot and humid season called summer. Spring is the season that prepares itself for the next season, as forestry is starting to grow and thrive. The animal kingdom also uses spring to mate. The bears that were hibernating no longer have to hibernate. The smell of freshly cut grass also goes through the warm spring air. The grouchy people of winter also start to become happy again. Most people dislike winter as it cold and the driving condition are not great. However in spring, everything is having life, or coming back to life; as well as their spirits. Spring is finally the time where people can finally eat outside, open up the window to let fresh air in. Nothing is better than seeing the neon green trees and grass shining through the low amounts of snow that might still be left behind by Mother Nature. The farming trade also begins in spring; the farmers begin to plant their vegetables so they can harvest them when the time is right. Spring also has a very nice holiday, Easter. Families gather at each other's houses and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Descriptive Essay On Winter And Summers During winters and summers I often walk the same path through the northern woods down to the lake. It is gorgeous in the summer time, the trees are in full bloom and I can hear the leaves rustling in the wind and crunching under your feet. The view was even better, however, in the winter. All the trees are bare and every branch is covered in snow and ice. It seems like I can see through the woods forever because there is nothing blocking my view. Once I get down to the lake and walk out onto the dock, no matter if it is summer or winter, it is always a breathtaking view. This is what I remember about visiting my grandparents. It is one of my favorite memories growing up. I love going to see my grandparents because everything is different from where I live. You have to drive at least 20 minutes to get into town before there is any stores, restaurants, gas stations, or anything else. They will always be some of my favorite people to visit. I often stay in the same tiny guest bedroom that they have there. My grandparents have a strong liking of birds and have multiple bird decorations throughout the house. There is even a clock in the kitchen which has a different bird picture for every hour. I never really found birds interesting, but when I sit at their kitchen table with them overlooking the wooded yard through the bay window, suddenly I was interested just like them. Sometimes I watch the hummingbirds come up to the window, and drink the juice that my grandma put in a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Essay on The Joys of Winter A cold, depressing, long period of time where people are upset and broke from the cost of happiness; runny noses, cheeks rosy and never feeling dressed warm enough: Is it really the most wonderful time of the year? In my eyes, it is. Winter to me; is something completely different. A time where you wake up snuggled up with the heat blaring, a time where everything around you takes your breath away and a time where what you have is cherished most. What is truly so great about winter? The atmosphere changes, the spirituality really stands out due to Christmas and happiness is like the flu that we all manage to catch. The atmosphere in the winter, and especially at Christmas is incredible. The mood that is given off and the feel of it ...show more content... Something about winter just sends off that vibe, the vibe of closeness, love and true meaning of life. I can't get enough of this specific time of the year, because it's when most people come to know the Lord. It's the time when family gathers together to come watch the Christmas plays, see the nativity scene displays and celebrate Jesus' birth. This is the time when it hits most people, the realization of eternal life. This is such a huge part of my life and my experiences in my household. Also, I love being a part of the plays and all the fun activities in my church; it's when I feel most comfortable and sure of whom I truly am. Lastly, I feel a real closeness in the wintertime. I always have such a secure, safe, warm feeling because of my family. Every year we have our many traditions. The second week of December we go on a sleigh ride, debate for hours on our perfect tree and I usually saw it down, with assistance from my dad of course. We then drink some hot chocolate. Now, it's decorating day. The day we get out the ornaments. Mom puts the garland on and decorates the house, I put the tinsel on with my brother; Matt, Dad puts on the lights; then we all pick our favourite ornaments and start the adventure. We always have a cute Christmas CD playing and eat delicious treats. Now, it's Christmas Eve. We watch a traditional Christmas movie; usually moms favourite "It's a Wonderful Life", and then we set out on the best part of it all; my absolute Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Essay A Winter Snow A Winter Snow When I think back upon the memories of my childhood, I clearly recall a specific winter afternoon at my grandmother's house. It is an especially cold day, I remember. I am dressed in two pairs of thick socks, two sweatshirts, a heavy winter coat, and my bright pink rain boots. I am nine years old, and to me, winter snow is pure magic. As I step out onto my grandmother's back porch, I remember losing my breath, not only from the bitter cold, but also from the captivating scene. I am immediately taken aback by the view. The entire ground, as far as my eyes can see, is coated in a hefty blanket of solid white. The light seems to dance atop the snow, making it glitter wherever the sun shines. Curious, I am instantly set to investigate. I follow the paw prints around the perimeter of the yard and stumble on the perpetrator. I find my grandmother's dog, Chip, a few yards away, leaping into the air in a desperate attempt to catch snowflakes in his mouth. The paw prints undeniably belong to him. In fascination with the rare weather, I close my eyes in order to focus on the sound of the day. I listen intently. The sound is so overwhelmingly peaceful. Silence, yet there is much to hear. I hear to the sparse leaves gently rattling in the breeze. In the distance, I hear a bird singing its joyful melody. I hear the snapping together of Chip's jaws after yet another failed attempt to taste the falling snowflakes. Laughing, I hear the pattering of his feet against the snow as he ran cheerfully. Abruptly, the sound of the back door opening snaps me out of my trance. My grandmother appears in the doorway to announce that dinner is ready. She has prepared soup. It is in this moment that I feel my stomach rumble. I had been so caught up in exploring the snow that I did not even notice my hunger. With the door ajar, I can smell the hot soup on the stove. • 16. Descriptive Essay About Snow It was a cold day, so cold that your arms start to sting as if a needle is impaling the surface of your skin. The wind applies a force which feels as if your face is oozing with thick crimson red blood. The gray puffy clouds covered the sky and dropped small snowflakes onto the road's surface. A man stood there, freezing, clearing the coat of thick white snow from the concrete road. His nose runs with a river of snot that floods out when the cold wind strikes. His sense of smell is heavily clogged by the slimy snot, but he can still smell the scent of the steamy hot chocolate which sits on the top of his snow covered car. His feet start to numb because of the cold flood which soaks through his boots to his white, silky socks. His feet feel as if he stepped into the freezing cold ocean. As if he fell through ice and he was stuck standing there. The vast pile of the ice white snow feels almost like a quicksand around his black rubber boot. Foggy figures of people shovel the big piles of snow off the sidewalks. They scrape and pick at the glossy white ice which sticks to the sidewalk like a little boy clinging to his mother's side. His feet still sting as if he was stepping on pins and needles. His hands are damp with sweat from grasping the curved metal shaft attached to a socket which holds the blade. The blade cuts holes into the thick powdered snow which is removed from the endless pile. The jet black shovel is filled with slushy snow and crystal shards of ice. • 17. Descriptive Essay On Winter Or Winter In mid April of 2017, during the spring break, my mom and I went to Colorado for the first time to go skiing at Winter Park. Most of my family skis, with the exception of my dad. He tried it once before but didn't enjoy it. So when we decided to go to Colorado, it was just my mom and I going together. I was so excited to go there because it was one of the places in the U.S. that I really wanted to visit. Plus, I would be skiing, which is my favorite thing to do in the winter or spring. I was looking forward to this trip so much that I became almost impatient, wishing that we could leave as soon as possible. My mom and I spent hours trying to find the best plane ticket prices a few weeks before. We had a difficult time finding planes that had the right departure and arrival times. We couldn't arrive too late because the closest airport was in Denver, and we had to drive about two hours to Winter Park Resort which was also where our hotel was located. It was a hassle but eventually we were able to decide on which planes to travel on. We then packed our bags with gear for skiing. Some essential gear included helmets, goggles, gloves, base layers, fleece tops, snowpants, ski socks, ski socks, and jackets. Skis, poles, and boots weren't necessary because we were going to rent them at the resort. It would've been too much equipment to carry along with us. When we arrived at Denver International Airport, my mom and I went to Subway to buy a few sandwiches for the car ride. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
