Family Nursing Essay
Family nursing is not all about patient centered care, it is focused on the needs of the family as a whole (Nursing theory). The main goal for family
nursing is to improve any health concerns by assessing the needs, problems, influences, and strentghs of the family (Journal of nursing). There are four
four types of approaches to family nursing. The four types of approaches to family nursing are, family as context, family as client, family as system,
and family as component of society (the book). The purpose of this paper is to define, discuss, and give examples of the four types of approaches to
family nursing.
Family as Context
Family as context is the first approach that focuses on the patient while the family is in background. The family...show more content...
Family as System
Family as system is the third approach which focuses the whole family as the client pg (10). The way the families interact with each other will have
influence on the nursing intervention (pg 10). There was a female patient that was diagnosed with terminal cancer in her mid–thirties. She was married
with two children. When her two teenaged children found out the cancer was terminal, they broke into tears. The husband was in denial. He could not
come to terms with the fact that his young wife had a couple months to live. I had to wait on the family interactions before deciding which nursing
intervention to choose. I played the councelor role to the family so they can express their feelings. The husband was able to accept her diagnosis and
he was her caregiver at home during her last couple of months.
Family as Component of Society
Family as component of society is the fourth approach that view families as a part of a variety of instituitions to society (pg 12). The family as a unit
communicate with other organizations to receive, exchange, or give communication and services (p.12). A community nurse pays particular attention
on the interface between families and community agencies (pg 12). I had a patient that was suffering withdrawal from opiates. He have been battling
with drug addiction for years. The wife was affected by this and told me she had to use outside resources for herself. She sees a

My Day With My Family
I believe that I feel the most comfortable when I am home with my family. Any activity we do together is amazing. Whether it's watching a movie
together, having dinner, or having something to talk about. There is always a time of the day where we just have a good laugh about something
that happened throughout the day. I know my family will always be there for me and I will do the same for them. I believe that I am blessed to
have such a loving, caring, and compassionate family. I believe when times are tough, my family is my true comfort. Even if it's the smallest thing
like a headache or stomachache I feel better with just my mom doing anything for me to feel better. I don't need medicine to heal the smallest
pains; all I need is my family's love. I've never looked at another family and thought, "wow they have an amazing relationship, i am jealous".
Sometimes I do the opposite because I never had thought wrong about my family even when we're aggravated sometimes. I remember during the
summer we would have a cookout every single Saturday and Sunday. We would all get together and have my dads "special asadas". Which are a
special steak well done with allot of lime and spices. We would sit there for hours eating and having a beer. We would call close friends that we even
call family. I believe there is no perfect life or perfect family. I believe my family will overcome anything that causes pain or misery. I believe that we
are in full control of our own wellness, both

My Family : My Own Family Essay
When we think of culture we usually think of a big group of people and we never think that culture is everywhere around us that we don't have to
have a group that consist of many people because it can be form in small groups too. We usually never think that our own family have its own culture.
I used to think that a family just does what it supposed to do and that's exactly what culture is, the way we act, think, feel and even the way we judge is
our own culture. Knowing this I decided that the group that I want to describe is my own family. Which consist of four people, two adults and two
children. We have the head of our house hold which is my husband, he supports our entire family. He works many hours to be able to support us.
Then is me, I attend college full time but am also a mother and I take care of everything at home. Then there 's my older son he is 9 years old and his
only job is to do good in school and help around the house. Then there 's my daughter she is 6 and like her brother her main job is to also do good in
school as well as some chores around the house.
Values are what makes us, there basically the foundation of the family. Most of our values have been passed down from generations before us. We
decide what we choose to pass down to our kids some of the values can be the same just in different order for example for some people religion is very
important it can be in the top 5 of their values but for some is may not be as important and it can be on their

Essay about Family Today
Family Today What is a family today? What challenges does being a member of a family present while traditional family structures change? Every
family has to struggle to balance the demands of work and children. Also the relationship between each spouse can become more delicate and
complicated. Besides, the single parent has to face even more challenges than any other.
Today, in a vast majority of families, both the wife and husband have a job. Many working parents are under stress as they have to try to balance the
demands of their work, children and...show more content...
The traditional family unit changed rapidly during the second half of the 20th century due to the effects of two world wars, rapid industrialization, the
development of technology, and the effects of the women's liberation movement. As a result the family became small (less children) and the majority of
women now can obtain equal opportunities in both education and work.
The role of a family is to struggle to survive, to protect and support children until children become mature and independent adults capable of providing
for themselves, and to provide a good standard of living. Moreover, if men and women can not co–operate well to deal withГЇВјЕ’the decision–making
is difficult or does not satisfy both, and then wife and husband may easily have arguments and disagreements. For some of them, these may become a
serious communication problem.
Since both men and women have to look after the family, sometimes they will have to put their personal, emotional and physical needs aside. As
already mentioned, when men and women feel stressed, then arguments and complaints may hurt the relationship. As a result, the relationship between
wife and husband becomes more delicate and complicated than in the former traditional family where the wife remained at home to undertake all the
tasks of raising children, cooking and cleaning.
The vast majority of single–parent families are

I Am Grateful For My Family
The kitchen is congested with cumin, pepper, and bitter leaf. If you start chuckling, singing, or communicating in any way you will choke because
spice particles compose most of the air now. This is my living room three times a week when my mom doesn't go to work the night before. It's how my
family functions. My family has caused me to live my life immersed in culture. From helping my mom cook our dinner of Jallof rice to attending
fundraisers until early dawn to produce money for building primary schools in the motherland. I am grateful for my family because it is from
them that I have developed an early interest in culture, and now I will carry that interest with me well after my education years. And although I
can say I have gained a lot from my family. They have limited me in life for too long. Often because of preformed notions or ideals my parents had,
they would not allow me to explore an interest I had. And other times I had to pursue an interest only meagerly because of my obligation to watch
my siblings or to take them to their practices. My parents have also expected me to follow in the footsteps of my older sister. As a middle child I am
expected to be indecisive and wavering and not ever really being defined, but for the first time in my life I feel I can define myself. As a crimson. I am
able to feel hope in my future because of Harvard University.
At Harvard my new family, won't limit me because of ancient values, or by my year of birth, or by anything. At

Informal Essay : Family Tradition

Informal Essay
I have a family tradition every year July 4th. We all know that July 4th is celebrated for Independence day. Others celebrate this holiday differently.
Me and my mother reaches out to our close ones in the family, this is because we do not often see our family every year. So we figured July 4th is the
special day every year to bring the loved ones and family together. I see my family quite often, our get togetherness are very entertaining. I believe
family matters, the way I show others in my life that they actually matter to me is a big blessing. I am committed to making sure that I prepare the
time being of this special day. My family get together is taken place in Carrolton Georgia, Carrolton Beach. Me and mymother usually sends letters in
the mail or make a phone call a week before our event. My family responds and then we write a list of names of all the family members that can
attend. When the actual day comes, I would find a spot in the shade where there are tables because usually it 's really hot out around this time. It 's
summer. After finding the spot, me and my mom sets up a grill to grill meats such as hotdogs, hamburgers, chicken, ribs, and more. We also bring a
huge cooler of drinks to keep us hydrated. Once the family have arrived we all sit down and talk, share memories, and bless the food and all eat
together. When coming out to the beach, me and my cousins would go down and play on the water. My mom, mainly the older

My Family : An Extended Family
Introduction to Family
My family consist of many people. My Father is Hector Abundis he is a very hard working man who and has been married to my mother Mary for
27 years now. My mom is very strong and also hardworking. I have three older brother Hector Jr is the oldest he's 29 and is currently in college as

the baby until my parents adopted my now little brother Nichols James who is in the 7th grade and we call him Nicki for short.
Size/Type/Structure/Ethnic Background
My family is a very big family I would consider us a Mexican American family, my father is from Mexico and my mother is from Olney, Texas.
Together they created what is called an extended family. An extended family is are families that consist of one or more parents, children or a family
that has more than one generation living in the household. Growing up and still to this day we always have family members living in our home. At
times my grandparents due to their health issues and other times my cousins until they could get back onto their feet.
Basic Values
One thing my family really values is education. My parents always taught us as children that knowledge is very important and we should learn as
much as we can. I think the best example of this is when I got pregnant at such a young age they didn't let me quit my education. Instead they pushed me

Persuasive Essay About My Family
Imagine being crammed into a tiny space with your annoying sister and your gross brother for 48 hours!! with nothing to do but complain. My family
and I are not close whatsoever. We aren't the type of family that eats dinner together and congratulates mom on the tasty dish she made that took
hours. We don't go on family vacations E–V–E–R. We don't hug each other when we are upset, so already I think you get an idea of how bothersome
my family is. We argue for the most ridiculous reasons. We are like lions and tigers fighting over who gets the piece of meat.So when I tell you what a
pain in the butt this road trip was, I'm not exaggerating!
My family and I lived in California ,where palm trees sway and the cool breeze wraps around your hair..I've never wanted to live anywhere else.Until
one day my mom comes into the living room and announces we are moving to New Jersey.Right then and there I knew my days beside the pool were
over, my heart broke and sank.
"You're going to meet some more of my part of the family" my mom said enthusiastically." 'Great, more pesky kids to annoy me' I thought. The rest of
my family was upset too, even my dad ,he can't really say no to a hispanic women.
"We leave Cali the 20th" she announced
"WHAT ARE YOU CRAZY ,That's the day before uncle Joey's wedding"
I yelled questionably
"You're gonna meet some more family mija" she said quietly
"That would be the last thing I'd want to do" I said in a sassy tone.
"Like it or not we are going end of discussion" she admonished I decided there was nothing I really could do about it. Days went by and I knew I was
going to miss California.I thought 'New Jersey can't be that bad, It won't be all that bad' Who was I kidding my life was over, we'd have to leave my
dad's side of the family. That meant I couldn't push my cousin Loli In rose bushes anymore,It was a bummer. I decided to start packing to get all of
it over with, I had to throw EVERYTHING away. I cried a little because I had to throw away all my paint brushes, paints, charcoal chalk and the rest of
my art supplies. More days went by and the day we had to leave California was a school day I hated the school. I was only in School for about 3 weeks
and that was enough. The worst part

The Word Family Essay
The word family is such a perplexing and tricky topic to define and describe. That's because of how many ways a single person can explain it.
Nowadays, there are so many arguments about what a family actually is. Is a family considered to be made up of a heterosexual married couple, and
that has two kids? Well, that 's what Brian Powell, author of Changing Counts, Counting Change: Toward a More Inclusive Definition ofFamily, found
when he explored the web in search of what a family was.
I Googled "family" and looked at its pictorial representations. The images presented a group of close–knit and happy people, but if one looks closer at
these pictures, one will also notice that these groups almost always are made up of what appear to be a father, a mother, and their children (most often
two children: an older boy and his younger sister). These pictures typify what Canadian sociologist Dorothy Smith (1993) coined as the Standard North
American Family (SNAF)–which strongly privileges heterosexual married households and, in particular, those that include children and those in which
women and men assume traditional gender roles. The SNAF often is portrayed as "the family" and the gold standard by which other family
arrangements are evaluated–often as "lesser" families or not as families at all. These other family arrangements–which are nearly invisible in the
aforementioned Google images–include biracial families, single–parent families, adoptive families, childless families,

My Family Traditions
My family has a lot of different traditions, but one stands out more than the others. The holiday I am talking about is Christmas. My family has always
celebrated Christmas on Christmas Eve. We start the celebration by going to our church's Christmas Eve service. During this service, we sing
Christmas songs and watch a video of the first Christmas. After the service, all my family goes to my grandparents' house to open presents and have
supper. The meal is different than most Christmas meals. All of my family members bring an appetizer instead of bringing a main dish. One of
my cousins is Haitian and one of uncles is Italian, so we have a lot of different cultures represented. My favorite is my uncle's meatballs. Once we
eat we have two different places to sit. One is called the kids' room and the other is the adult room. You are supposed to sit at the kids' table if you
are not married. Once we have finished eating we all head to the living room to open presents. Before we open presents, one of my younger cousins
reads a Christmas poem. A different cousin reads the story every year.
When it is finally time to open presents, we always open them one person at a time and always go from youngest to oldest. We go one at a time
because my grandma likes to see what everyone got. Once everyone has opened their presents, my grandma tries to recruit some people to play
bingo. She likes being the person who calls out the numbers because that's what her mom always did. We have been doing all of these things for as
long as I can remember. My dad says they have been doing things this way for the last 40 years. My grandma is the main person that has been carrying
on these traditions.
I would say my grandmother is the glue to our family so everyone follows her lead. I think that my other family members are so used to doing these
things that they will continue to do them in the future. I would say I am a participant in this tradition. I am one of the younger grandchildren, so I do
not say much or try to change anything. If I did offer a new idea, I do think my grandma would consider it. My whole family takes part in this
tradition. I have six aunts and uncles and twelve cousins, so my family is pretty big. Everyone

I Want My Future Family
I want my future family to have similar aspects of my current family, such as loving my children as much as my mom does, along with aspects of
Gil's family, like how even when he was stressed, he still stayed and cared for his family. Even as a child, I have always thought I would be a fun
mother, and I hope to have a family somewhat of the likes of Gil's. His children had fun, and, although he was stressed out often times, he found a
way to still make time for what matters most: being with his family. I know it will be a little hard to obtain this goal, but I will try my very best to
make a loving family who will go out on a limb for you. I believe a family should do anything for you when you need them most and I will shape my
children into people I would want to be friends with. In order for me to try to keep qualities like my family now, I would need to work with the
parenting styles my parents have shown me through the years.
I want to be able to communicate with my parents the way Gil and Kevin talked, but I am afraid that it won't happen that way as my parents are both
stubborn and refuse to listen. In the same ways that Gil did not want to end up like his father, I would not like to end up like my step–dad. He has
caused a lot of pain for me and I do not ever want to treat my children the way he has, or watch my future children behave like him. Often, I refer to
his behavior, as a teenage girl's; for example, he throws tantrums, he never listens to the full story, and

THE PROBLEM AND ITS STUDY
1. Introduction
Family is very important part of our everyday life. It helps us in improving our personality. It also helps us in shaping our life. It teaches us the value
of love, affection, care, truthfulness and self–confidence and provides us tools and suggestions which are necessary to get success in life.
Family is a place where you can be yourself. It is a place where you are accepted for what you are. This is where you are completely tension free and
everyone is there to help you. Family encourages you when you are surrounded by problems. It helps you survive through tough times and bring joy
and happiness into life.

Psychologists believe that a child learns the most from his or her family life. The way your family members deal with you has a life long effect on
your personality. Keeping in view all these facts the importance of your family life cannot be denied. Family unit happens to be the most important
part of your life till you grow up. The children are usually closer to their parents and their siblings as compared to any other person in the world. As
the children grow up they find good friends, spouses, their own kids and colleagues to share their lives with. Although time brings this change but the
importance of family remains there. The children who have a sound family background and who belong to a family with strong family ties are almost
always happier. Thus one cannot deny the importance of family life.
The life with your family is very important it plays a major role in your development into the person you become. The goals you set for yourself in
your life are very much dependent on the life you have with your family. Those children who belong to the families which have a rich education
background tend to learn more. They are interested in learning more and thus it is easy for their parents to get them educated. Similarly, for example,
children who belong to a family from which a few of the people are in the field of professional sports, the kids tend to have an interest in sports and

Since the united stated has become so diverse that the definition of family has change, therefore, in my perspective, culture background, and personal
experience, a family is not only blood related that lives in the same household but also someone that has been by my side showing empowerment

Doing what my parents tell me to do is just one of many reasons why I am a rock of support for my family. Not only do I support my parents, but I
also support my younger cousins and brother. As an eldest brother and cousin, I feel I must be a good example for the young ones. There are
numerous methods of showing my cousins and brother support. One main way is by providing advice on making the right choices. For example my
brother had a problem at school with one of his classmates. As a mature and responsible older brother, I advised him to use the non–violent approach. I
told him to go discuss the problem and try to resolve it peacefully. My brother then asked me why he shouldn't fight his classmate. I explained how
violence is the answer to anything. I advised him to first talk to his classmate in a professional manner. If then things get out of hand, I told him to
let the teacher know the situation. In the end, my brother didn't need to get the teacher involved. In fact, their conflict was resolved by talking
through with each other. I also am very supportive of my little cousins. One way I help them out is by tutoring them once in a while. They come
over to my house and I assist them with their school work. Not only I help my cousins with their homework, but I also support them recreationally. I
play various sports and activities with them. As their older cousin/brother, I feel I should be a good role model to follow. I am also known for being there

My Goals For My Future Family
Life is full of dreams and aspirations, yet there has to be a solid plan in place to transform the fantasy to reality. For people like me who tend to
prioritize and plan ahead, the task is simple. After carefully thinking about the goals I have, I have concluded that I have one main goal with a
short–term goal that in turn will open the door to larger goals. By surviving my freshman year of college with at least a 3.85 grade point average (GPA)
while working a full time job, I can boost my confidence and build up a solid foundation for future endeavors in college. I could probably name a
thousand reasons why I decided to go back to college. But, the main reason is for my future family. College is very important in our life. Without
education the only job out there is running a cash register for minimum wage. It is hard to make a living on low income. Believe me, I know
because I have tried to do it. I wanted to be able to provide a better life for myself as well as my future family. I want my kids to have more than
what I had as kid. Growing up my dad worked carpenter, and he used to get not that much money from his job. My mom never works; she took
care of the house cook, laundry, clean, and a lot more. We are three kids and I am the oldest. My dad had difficult time to provide us with

My Expectations On My Family
Have you ever had high expectations that you have to live up to? My family has several expectations for me. One is to continue with school so I can
earn a proper education. The second expectation they have for me is to follow their rules on my future relationships. Last hope from them is for me to
act and respect myself in an appropriate way. Therefore. There are several reasons to myfamily's expectations.
The first expectation my family expects from me is to go to school and get a career. For instance, my dad's expectation of school was that he had
high hopes for me to go to a university, so I could become a successful person in life. In other words, my mom's expectation was to graduate from high
school because she didn't want me to end up like her, for she didn't not have the privilege to finish school. My parents pushed their expectation of a
proper education because they were not as fortunate to do so. Meanwhile, my grandma's expectation is for me to go to a university or a college
just like my other cousins. Since she compares my education to theirs, she tells me to be a successful student in school and have a great career.
She always told me as a child until now that I have to become a doctor because doctors make a lot of money. However, I did not want to copy my
cousins, so I decided I would make my own choices in my career. Therefore, one day I will become a teacher. So, their expectations pushed me to get

What Is A Family? Essay
For most of us, the family is considered as a well–known and comfortable institution. The perfect model of the 'ideal' family is still mostly considered
to be consisted from two different sexes' parents, and one or more children. Until quite recently, the sociology of the family was mostly functionalist
and just in the last few decades has been challenged from various directions. There are many different definitions about what the family is. Different
theoretical positions influence these variations. For example, the functionalist sociologist George Peter Murdock defines the family as "a social group
characterized by common residence, economic co–operation and reproduction. It includes adults of both sexes, at least two of whom maintain...show

An early functionalist George Murdock argued that the family plays the main role in the society by performing three main functions– пЃ¶Stabilisation
of the sexual behaviour and reproduction. пЃ¶Providing the basic economic requirements. пЃ¶Serving the function of socialisation of the next
generation. G. Murdock claimed that without family serving these three functions the society would disappear. He considered these functions as
universal, although he agreed that they could develop. Talcott Parsons argues this statement, by saying, that there are two broad functions of the
family– primary socialisation and stabilisation of the adult personality 'throughout the emotional security, including sexual expression, provided by
marriage' (O'Donnell, 1997). In these days, when society is changing, the functionalistic statements lose their strength. For example, the sex outside
the marriage, in these days of easily available contraception, is no more the taboo. Margaret Mead argues Murdock's and Parsons imply that nuclear
family is biologically necessary and natural. She stated that the nuclear family is based on culture, not biology. Marxist views on the family Marxists
have very critical view of the family and society. They adopt a structural perspective, but put it in the class nature of the society. The starting point for
the most Marxist analyses of gender and the family is Friedrich Engels' (1820–1895) The Origin of the

A family is made up of two or more people, related by birth, marriage, or adoption and residing in the same home. Society's definition of 'family' is
expanding and includes single parents, blended families, unrelated individuals living cooperatively, and homosexual couples, among others.
Unfortunately, family guidelines have been slow to catch up to changing trends in modern lifestyles (Crawford, 1999).
The complex family, or a family structure involving more than two adults, was prevalent before the industrial revolution. The primary component in
traditional society was the group, not the individual. Individuals functioned as part of groups in such a way that their lives were greatly influenced by

China's ongoing economic revolution has had a profound impact not only on China but on the world. The market oriented reforms China has
implemented over the past two decades have made way for individual inventiveness and entrepreneurship. The result has been the largest decline of
poverty and one of the fastest increases in income levels ever recorded. China today is the third largest economy in the world, and is projected to pass
Japan to become second largest by the end of 2010 (Hamlin, 2010). It has sustained average economic growth of over 9.5% for the past 26 years
(Department of State, 2010). In 2009 its $4.814 trillion economy was about one third the size of the U.S. economy (Department of State, 2010). U.S.
exporters maintain concerns about protection of intellectual property rights, fair market admittance due to strict testing and standards requirements for
some imported products, and policies appearing to pursue import replacement. In addition, a lack of simplicity in the regulatory process complicates the
process for businesses to plan changes in the domestic market structure.
One of the severe harmful consequences of China's rapid industrial development has been increased pollution and deprivation of natural resources.

Family Nursing Essay

  • 1. Family Nursing Essay Family nursing is not all about patient centered care, it is focused on the needs of the family as a whole (Nursing theory). The main goal for family nursing is to improve any health concerns by assessing the needs, problems, influences, and strentghs of the family (Journal of nursing). There are four four types of approaches to family nursing. The four types of approaches to family nursing are, family as context, family as client, family as system, and family as component of society (the book). The purpose of this paper is to define, discuss, and give examples of the four types of approaches to family nursing. Family as Context Family as context is the first approach that focuses on the patient while the family is in background. The family...show more content... Family as System Family as system is the third approach which focuses the whole family as the client pg (10). The way the families interact with each other will have influence on the nursing intervention (pg 10). There was a female patient that was diagnosed with terminal cancer in her mid–thirties. She was married with two children. When her two teenaged children found out the cancer was terminal, they broke into tears. The husband was in denial. He could not come to terms with the fact that his young wife had a couple months to live. I had to wait on the family interactions before deciding which nursing intervention to choose. I played the councelor role to the family so they can express their feelings. The husband was able to accept her diagnosis and he was her caregiver at home during her last couple of months. Family as Component of Society Family as component of society is the fourth approach that view families as a part of a variety of instituitions to society (pg 12). The family as a unit communicate with other organizations to receive, exchange, or give communication and services (p.12). A community nurse pays particular attention on the interface between families and community agencies (pg 12). I had a patient that was suffering withdrawal from opiates. He have been battling with drug addiction for years. The wife was affected by this and told me she had to use outside resources for herself. She sees a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. My Day With My Family I believe that I feel the most comfortable when I am home with my family. Any activity we do together is amazing. Whether it's watching a movie together, having dinner, or having something to talk about. There is always a time of the day where we just have a good laugh about something that happened throughout the day. I know my family will always be there for me and I will do the same for them. I believe that I am blessed to have such a loving, caring, and compassionate family. I believe when times are tough, my family is my true comfort. Even if it's the smallest thing like a headache or stomachache I feel better with just my mom doing anything for me to feel better. I don't need medicine to heal the smallest pains; all I need is my family's love. I've never looked at another family and thought, "wow they have an amazing relationship, i am jealous". Sometimes I do the opposite because I never had thought wrong about my family even when we're aggravated sometimes. I remember during the summer we would have a cookout every single Saturday and Sunday. We would all get together and have my dads "special asadas". Which are a special steak well done with allot of lime and spices. We would sit there for hours eating and having a beer. We would call close friends that we even call family. I believe there is no perfect life or perfect family. I believe my family will overcome anything that causes pain or misery. I believe that we are in full control of our own wellness, both Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. My Family : My Own Family Essay When we think of culture we usually think of a big group of people and we never think that culture is everywhere around us that we don't have to have a group that consist of many people because it can be form in small groups too. We usually never think that our own family have its own culture. I used to think that a family just does what it supposed to do and that's exactly what culture is, the way we act, think, feel and even the way we judge is our own culture. Knowing this I decided that the group that I want to describe is my own family. Which consist of four people, two adults and two children. We have the head of our house hold which is my husband, he supports our entire family. He works many hours to be able to support us. Then is me, I attend college full time but am also a mother and I take care of everything at home. Then there 's my older son he is 9 years old and his only job is to do good in school and help around the house. Then there 's my daughter she is 6 and like her brother her main job is to also do good in school as well as some chores around the house. Values are what makes us, there basically the foundation of the family. Most of our values have been passed down from generations before us. We decide what we choose to pass down to our kids some of the values can be the same just in different order for example for some people religion is very important it can be in the top 5 of their values but for some is may not be as important and it can be on their Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Essay about Family Today Family Today What is a family today? What challenges does being a member of a family present while traditional family structures change? Every family has to struggle to balance the demands of work and children. Also the relationship between each spouse can become more delicate and complicated. Besides, the single parent has to face even more challenges than any other. Today, in a vast majority of families, both the wife and husband have a job. Many working parents are under stress as they have to try to balance the demands of their work, children and...show more content... The traditional family unit changed rapidly during the second half of the 20th century due to the effects of two world wars, rapid industrialization, the development of technology, and the effects of the women's liberation movement. As a result the family became small (less children) and the majority of women now can obtain equal opportunities in both education and work. The role of a family is to struggle to survive, to protect and support children until children become mature and independent adults capable of providing for themselves, and to provide a good standard of living. Moreover, if men and women can not co–operate well to deal withГЇВјЕ’the decision–making is difficult or does not satisfy both, and then wife and husband may easily have arguments and disagreements. For some of them, these may become a serious communication problem. Since both men and women have to look after the family, sometimes they will have to put their personal, emotional and physical needs aside. As already mentioned, when men and women feel stressed, then arguments and complaints may hurt the relationship. As a result, the relationship between wife and husband becomes more delicate and complicated than in the former traditional family where the wife remained at home to undertake all the tasks of raising children, cooking and cleaning. The vast majority of single–parent families are Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. I Am Grateful For My Family The kitchen is congested with cumin, pepper, and bitter leaf. If you start chuckling, singing, or communicating in any way you will choke because spice particles compose most of the air now. This is my living room three times a week when my mom doesn't go to work the night before. It's how my family functions. My family has caused me to live my life immersed in culture. From helping my mom cook our dinner of Jallof rice to attending fundraisers until early dawn to produce money for building primary schools in the motherland. I am grateful for my family because it is from them that I have developed an early interest in culture, and now I will carry that interest with me well after my education years. And although I can say I have gained a lot from my family. They have limited me in life for too long. Often because of preformed notions or ideals my parents had, they would not allow me to explore an interest I had. And other times I had to pursue an interest only meagerly because of my obligation to watch my siblings or to take them to their practices. My parents have also expected me to follow in the footsteps of my older sister. As a middle child I am expected to be indecisive and wavering and not ever really being defined, but for the first time in my life I feel I can define myself. As a crimson. I am able to feel hope in my future because of Harvard University. At Harvard my new family, won't limit me because of ancient values, or by my year of birth, or by anything. • 6. Informal Essay : Family Tradition Kaitlin Mabray Informal Essay I have a family tradition every year July 4th. We all know that July 4th is celebrated for Independence day. Others celebrate this holiday differently. Me and my mother reaches out to our close ones in the family, this is because we do not often see our family every year. So we figured July 4th is the special day every year to bring the loved ones and family together. I see my family quite often, our get togetherness are very entertaining. I believe family matters, the way I show others in my life that they actually matter to me is a big blessing. I am committed to making sure that I prepare the time being of this special day. My family get together is taken place in Carrolton Georgia, Carrolton Beach. Me and mymother usually sends letters in the mail or make a phone call a week before our event. My family responds and then we write a list of names of all the family members that can attend. When the actual day comes, I would find a spot in the shade where there are tables because usually it 's really hot out around this time. It 's summer. After finding the spot, me and my mom sets up a grill to grill meats such as hotdogs, hamburgers, chicken, ribs, and more. We also bring a huge cooler of drinks to keep us hydrated. Once the family have arrived we all sit down and talk, share memories, and bless the food and all eat together. When coming out to the beach, me and my cousins would go down and play on the water. Together they created what is called an extended family. An extended family is are families that consist of one or more parents, children or a family that has more than one generation living in the household. Growing up and still to this day we always have family members living in our home. At times my grandparents due to their health issues and other times my cousins until they could get back onto their feet. Basic Values One thing my family really values is education. My parents always taught us as children that knowledge is very important and we should learn as much as we can. I think the best example of this is when I got pregnant at such a young age they didn't let me quit my education. Instead they pushed me Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Persuasive Essay About My Family Imagine being crammed into a tiny space with your annoying sister and your gross brother for 48 hours!! with nothing to do but complain. My family and I are not close whatsoever. We aren't the type of family that eats dinner together and congratulates mom on the tasty dish she made that took hours. We don't go on family vacations E–V–E–R. We don't hug each other when we are upset, so already I think you get an idea of how bothersome my family is. We argue for the most ridiculous reasons. We are like lions and tigers fighting over who gets the piece of meat.So when I tell you what a pain in the butt this road trip was, I'm not exaggerating! My family and I lived in California ,where palm trees sway and the cool breeze wraps around your hair..I've never wanted to live anywhere else.Until one day my mom comes into the living room and announces we are moving to New Jersey.Right then and there I knew my days beside the pool were over, my heart broke and sank. "You're going to meet some more of my part of the family" my mom said enthusiastically." 'Great, more pesky kids to annoy me' I thought. The rest of my family was upset too, even my dad ,he can't really say no to a hispanic women. "We leave Cali the 20th" she announced "WHAT ARE YOU CRAZY ,That's the day before uncle Joey's wedding" I yelled questionably "You're gonna meet some more family mija" she said quietly "That would be the last thing I'd want to do" I said in a sassy tone. "Like it or not we are going end of discussion" she admonished I decided there was nothing I really could do about it. Days went by and I knew I was going to miss California.I thought 'New Jersey can't be that bad, It won't be all that bad' Who was I kidding my life was over, we'd have to leave my dad's side of the family. That meant I couldn't push my cousin Loli In rose bushes anymore,It was a bummer. I decided to start packing to get all of it over with, I had to throw EVERYTHING away. I cried a little because I had to throw away all my paint brushes, paints, charcoal chalk and the rest of my art supplies. More days went by and the day we had to leave California was a school day I hated the school. I was only in School for about 3 weeks and that was enough. • 9. The Word Family Essay The word family is such a perplexing and tricky topic to define and describe. That's because of how many ways a single person can explain it. Nowadays, there are so many arguments about what a family actually is. Is a family considered to be made up of a heterosexual married couple, and that has two kids? Well, that 's what Brian Powell, author of Changing Counts, Counting Change: Toward a More Inclusive Definition ofFamily, found when he explored the web in search of what a family was. I Googled "family" and looked at its pictorial representations. The images presented a group of close–knit and happy people, but if one looks closer at these pictures, one will also notice that these groups almost always are made up of what appear to be a father, a mother, and their children (most often two children: an older boy and his younger sister). These pictures typify what Canadian sociologist Dorothy Smith (1993) coined as the Standard North American Family (SNAF)–which strongly privileges heterosexual married households and, in particular, those that include children and those in which women and men assume traditional gender roles. The SNAF often is portrayed as "the family" and the gold standard by which other family arrangements are evaluated–often as "lesser" families or not as families at all. These other family arrangements–which are nearly invisible in the aforementioned Google images–include biracial families, single–parent families, adoptive families, childless families, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. My Family Traditions My family has a lot of different traditions, but one stands out more than the others. The holiday I am talking about is Christmas. My family has always celebrated Christmas on Christmas Eve. We start the celebration by going to our church's Christmas Eve service. During this service, we sing Christmas songs and watch a video of the first Christmas. After the service, all my family goes to my grandparents' house to open presents and have supper. The meal is different than most Christmas meals. All of my family members bring an appetizer instead of bringing a main dish. One of my cousins is Haitian and one of uncles is Italian, so we have a lot of different cultures represented. My favorite is my uncle's meatballs. Once we eat we have two different places to sit. One is called the kids' room and the other is the adult room. You are supposed to sit at the kids' table if you are not married. Once we have finished eating we all head to the living room to open presents. Before we open presents, one of my younger cousins reads a Christmas poem. A different cousin reads the story every year. When it is finally time to open presents, we always open them one person at a time and always go from youngest to oldest. We go one at a time because my grandma likes to see what everyone got. Once everyone has opened their presents, my grandma tries to recruit some people to play bingo. She likes being the person who calls out the numbers because that's what her mom always did. We have been doing all of these things for as long as I can remember. My dad says they have been doing things this way for the last 40 years. My grandma is the main person that has been carrying on these traditions. I would say my grandmother is the glue to our family so everyone follows her lead. I think that my other family members are so used to doing these things that they will continue to do them in the future. I would say I am a participant in this tradition. I am one of the younger grandchildren, so I do not say much or try to change anything. If I did offer a new idea, I do think my grandma would consider it. My whole family takes part in this tradition. I have six aunts and uncles and twelve cousins, so my family is pretty big. Everyone Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. I Want My Future Family I want my future family to have similar aspects of my current family, such as loving my children as much as my mom does, along with aspects of Gil's family, like how even when he was stressed, he still stayed and cared for his family. Even as a child, I have always thought I would be a fun mother, and I hope to have a family somewhat of the likes of Gil's. His children had fun, and, although he was stressed out often times, he found a way to still make time for what matters most: being with his family. I know it will be a little hard to obtain this goal, but I will try my very best to make a loving family who will go out on a limb for you. I believe a family should do anything for you when you need them most and I will shape my children into people I would want to be friends with. In order for me to try to keep qualities like my family now, I would need to work with the parenting styles my parents have shown me through the years. I want to be able to communicate with my parents the way Gil and Kevin talked, but I am afraid that it won't happen that way as my parents are both stubborn and refuse to listen. In the same ways that Gil did not want to end up like his father, I would not like to end up like my step–dad. He has caused a lot of pain for me and I do not ever want to treat my children the way he has, or watch my future children behave like him. Often, I refer to his behavior, as a teenage girl's; for example, he throws tantrums, he never listens to the full story, and Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Family Definition Essay Since the united stated has become so diverse that the definition of family has change, therefore, in my perspective, culture background, and personal experience, a family is not only blood related that lives in the same household but also someone that has been by my side showing empowerment through rough times. Therefore, I perceive the definition of family as, someone who, has seen the good and the bad side of me and still accept me who I am with judging me. In my family, there are four people: my father, my mother, my little brother and me. My father is one who brings money home and is also responsible for organizing and planning family trips. My mother is the one who is in charge for making meals and makes sure everyone eats at the appropriate times. My little brother is the pet of the family. Doing what my parents tell me to do is just one of many reasons why I am a rock of support for my family. Not only do I support my parents, but I also support my younger cousins and brother. As an eldest brother and cousin, I feel I must be a good example for the young ones. There are numerous methods of showing my cousins and brother support. One main way is by providing advice on making the right choices. For example my brother had a problem at school with one of his classmates. As a mature and responsible older brother, I advised him to use the non–violent approach. I told him to go discuss the problem and try to resolve it peacefully. My brother then asked me why he shouldn't fight his classmate. I explained how violence is the answer to anything. I advised him to first talk to his classmate in a professional manner. If then things get out of hand, I told him to let the teacher know the situation. In the end, my brother didn't need to get the teacher involved. In fact, their conflict was resolved by talking through with each other. I also am very supportive of my little cousins. One way I help them out is by tutoring them once in a while. They come over to my house and I assist them with their school work. Not only I help my cousins with their homework, but I also support them recreationally. I play various sports and activities with them. As their older cousin/brother, I feel I should be a good role model to follow. I am also known for being there Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. My Goals For My Future Family Life is full of dreams and aspirations, yet there has to be a solid plan in place to transform the fantasy to reality. For people like me who tend to prioritize and plan ahead, the task is simple. After carefully thinking about the goals I have, I have concluded that I have one main goal with a short–term goal that in turn will open the door to larger goals. By surviving my freshman year of college with at least a 3.85 grade point average (GPA) while working a full time job, I can boost my confidence and build up a solid foundation for future endeavors in college. I could probably name a thousand reasons why I decided to go back to college. But, the main reason is for my future family. College is very important in our life. Without education the only job out there is running a cash register for minimum wage. It is hard to make a living on low income. Believe me, I know because I have tried to do it. I wanted to be able to provide a better life for myself as well as my future family. I want my kids to have more than what I had as kid. Growing up my dad worked carpenter, and he used to get not that much money from his job. My mom never works; she took care of the house cook, laundry, clean, and a lot more. We are three kids and I am the oldest. My dad had difficult time to provide us with everything we need. We would wear the clothes for while tell we get a new once. It is unforgettable memory for me and my brothers, but it was a happily life in the same time. I like to be Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Being Thankful For My Family I think being thankful is very important. I believe gratitude turns what we have into enough. If you are thankful for things it makes you appreciate them more that way. It's good to be thankful so that you know how lucky you are. There is always something to be thankful for. I'm thankful for my grandparents, my family and my dog. I am so thankful for my grandparents. They love and care for me so much in their own ways. My grandma Bev plays Gin Rummy with me whenever she visits. Usually, she comes down during Thanksgiving, and we make Thanksgiving dinner together with my mom, and my dad just eats the food while we make it. My grandma makes great gravy and cranberry sauce. My grandma Frieda and grandpa Larry like to watch golf and the cooking show with me. My grandma Frieda cooks and bakes with me and always gives me baking supplies. My grandpa Larry, when I was little, used to give me Piggy–Back rides but I'm too big now. My grandparents never forget any of my birthdays, ever. My grandma Bev has given me a silver dollar every birthday that I've had. I love my grandparents so much, and I am very thankful for them. My family is the most important thing to me in the whole world. I would be nothing without them. Every one of my family members play a special role in my life. • 17. My Expectations On My Family Have you ever had high expectations that you have to live up to? My family has several expectations for me. One is to continue with school so I can earn a proper education. The second expectation they have for me is to follow their rules on my future relationships. Last hope from them is for me to act and respect myself in an appropriate way. Therefore. There are several reasons to myfamily's expectations. The first expectation my family expects from me is to go to school and get a career. For instance, my dad's expectation of school was that he had high hopes for me to go to a university, so I could become a successful person in life. In other words, my mom's expectation was to graduate from high school because she didn't want me to end up like her, for she didn't not have the privilege to finish school. My parents pushed their expectation of a proper education because they were not as fortunate to do so. Meanwhile, my grandma's expectation is for me to go to a university or a college just like my other cousins. Since she compares my education to theirs, she tells me to be a successful student in school and have a great career. She always told me as a child until now that I have to become a doctor because doctors make a lot of money. However, I did not want to copy my cousins, so I decided I would make my own choices in my career. Therefore, one day I will become a teacher. So, their expectations pushed me to get all A's; as a result, I put school and education before Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. What Is A Family? Essay For most of us, the family is considered as a well–known and comfortable institution. The perfect model of the 'ideal' family is still mostly considered to be consisted from two different sexes' parents, and one or more children. Until quite recently, the sociology of the family was mostly functionalist and just in the last few decades has been challenged from various directions. There are many different definitions about what the family is. Different theoretical positions influence these variations. For example, the functionalist sociologist George Peter Murdock defines the family as "a social group characterized by common residence, economic co–operation and reproduction. It includes adults of both sexes, at least two of whom maintain...show more content... An early functionalist George Murdock argued that the family plays the main role in the society by performing three main functions– пЃ¶Stabilisation of the sexual behaviour and reproduction. пЃ¶Providing the basic economic requirements. пЃ¶Serving the function of socialisation of the next generation. G. Murdock claimed that without family serving these three functions the society would disappear. He considered these functions as universal, although he agreed that they could develop. Talcott Parsons argues this statement, by saying, that there are two broad functions of the family– primary socialisation and stabilisation of the adult personality 'throughout the emotional security, including sexual expression, provided by marriage' (O'Donnell, 1997). In these days, when society is changing, the functionalistic statements lose their strength. For example, the sex outside the marriage, in these days of easily available contraception, is no more the taboo. Margaret Mead argues Murdock's and Parsons imply that nuclear family is biologically necessary and natural. She stated that the nuclear family is based on culture, not biology. Marxist views on the family Marxists have very critical view of the family and society. They adopt a structural perspective, but put it in the class nature of the society. The starting point for the most Marxist analyses of gender and the family is Friedrich Engels' (1820–1895) The Origin of the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Family Structure Essay A family is made up of two or more people, related by birth, marriage, or adoption and residing in the same home. Society's definition of 'family' is expanding and includes single parents, blended families, unrelated individuals living cooperatively, and homosexual couples, among others. Unfortunately, family guidelines have been slow to catch up to changing trends in modern lifestyles (Crawford, 1999). The complex family, or a family structure involving more than two adults, was prevalent before the industrial revolution. The primary component in traditional society was the group, not the individual. Individuals functioned as part of groups in such a way that their lives were greatly influenced by the group even more so than by...show more content... China's ongoing economic revolution has had a profound impact not only on China but on the world. The market oriented reforms China has implemented over the past two decades have made way for individual inventiveness and entrepreneurship. The result has been the largest decline of poverty and one of the fastest increases in income levels ever recorded. China today is the third largest economy in the world, and is projected to pass Japan to become second largest by the end of 2010 (Hamlin, 2010). It has sustained average economic growth of over 9.5% for the past 26 years (Department of State, 2010). In 2009 its $4.814 trillion economy was about one third the size of the U.S. economy (Department of State, 2010). U.S. exporters maintain concerns about protection of intellectual property rights, fair market admittance due to strict testing and standards requirements for some imported products, and policies appearing to pursue import replacement. In addition, a lack of simplicity in the regulatory process complicates the process for businesses to plan changes in the domestic market structure. One of the severe harmful consequences of China's rapid industrial development has been increased pollution and deprivation of natural resources. China surpassed the U.S. as the world's largest emitter of carbon dioxide in 2007 (Harrabin, 2008). Almost all of the nation's rivers are considered polluted to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
