This document summarizes epidemiology data on tobacco use from January 2015. It presents smoking prevalence rates in Poland from 2000-2007 by gender and for youth and health professionals. While smoking rates are decreasing for males, they are increasing for females. The number of smokers worldwide is projected to increase from 1.4 billion in 2006 to 1.6 billion in 2030. Tobacco use is a leading cause of death and causes many deaths due to secondhand smoke exposure as well. Potential solutions to address tobacco use are discussed but not specified.
