The document discusses psoriasis, a chronic skin disease characterized by scaly pink patches that form on the elbows, knees, scalp and other areas. It defines psoriasis and outlines its causes such as genetics and infections. The pathophysiology involves a hyperactive immune response that leads to rapid skin cell production. Symptoms include erythematous, dry, scaly patches that are commonly itchy or burning. Diagnosis involves taking a medical history, physical examination, and potentially a skin biopsy. Management consists of topical corticosteroids, retinoids, cyclosporine, and lifestyle changes to control symptoms and complications like obesity, diabetes, and heart disease.

13. MANAGEMENT
1. Medical management
• Topical corticosteroids : Corticosteroids is a anti-inflammatory and also suppress
the immune response. Example: Dexamethasone
• Retinoids:- Retinoids reduce skin cell production.
• Cyclosporine:- Cyclosporine decreases the immune system’s response.
