Thato hated moving to a new town and starting at a new school, but soon made friends with Natasha, Clint, and Melissa. However, when Clint's book report goes missing and is found on Melissa's desk, her friends accuse her of stealing. Thato didn't believe Melissa was capable of this. With the help of her mischievous little brother Neo, who had recorded conversations from their neighbor's yard while dressed as Batman, Thato discovers that their neighbor Zane had taken the book report to get back at Melissa for a previous prank. Melissa is cleared of wrongdoing and apologizes to Zane, restoring peace between the classmates.

2. Thato hated her life at the
moment…..
Thato could hear her mum
telling her to wake up but she
really did not want to go to
school today. It was the first
day of school, in a new town,
new people, new teacher and
new ugly green uniform and
worst of all Thato has left all
her friends behind to come to
this new town called
Greenlands. The reason for
the move was because Thato
dad is a lawyer and he started
a new firm.

3. Neo, Thato little 5 years old brother comes running into Thato room and
starts pulling at her blanket. “Go away Neo!’’ Says Thato in an angry
voice, the next thing that happened was Neo managing to pull the covers
and spray water all over Thato with his water gun. Thato now wet and
angry thought to herself that really was the worst Christmas present that
gran ma gave to Neo. ‘Get out of my room!” Neo runs out before the
slipper can hit him on his head.

4. Thato got ready for school and came to the breakfeast table.
Mum why did gran ma ever give Neo that horrible toy it ruined my
sleep. Thato stop complaining and eat your breakfeast said mum.
He gets away with everything, and Neo just smiled and stuck his
tongue out at her and goes on to gobble his cereal. Thato just
rolled her eyes and starts to finish her breakfeast.

5. Thato’s mum takes her to Greenlands primary school and registers her
at the school, she gives her a big hug and tells her to enjoy her first day,
she also tells Thato to wait by the gate after school she will pick her up at
13:00. Thato just nodded, she was already feeling sad and now her mum
was leaving her here. A teacher named Mrs . C. Johnson came to take
Thato to her new grade 3 class. “Don’t worry, Thato” said Mrs Johnson I
am sure you will like it here at Greenland primary school.

6. Mrs C Johnson introduces Thato to the grade 3 class and places her in a
group with two girls and a boy with really big glasses. Thato wonders how
the glasses are able to stay on his face. The boy’s name is Clint the class
calls him four eyes; he is very clever and usually likes to work alone. The
two girls opposite Thato is, Natasha who has dark hair and friendly brown
eyes who likes to talk a lot and then there is Melissa she has really curly hair
with a mischievous smile

7. Melissa tied one of the boys shoes together and caused him to fall, on
Mr Bones the class skeleton. Mrs Johnson was not very happy and
Melissa got detention. Thato started to make friends with Natasha she
liked her alot and they got along with each other and Natasha invited
Thato to come and sit with her, Clint and Melissa during break time.
Thato already made two new friends and she sits next to the class clown.
A month later…..

8. It's book report day, as Thato sits
down and takes out her book report,
she hears a loud bang. Clint had
emptied his entire bag on the floor
and he and Natasha were frantically
looking for something. Thato asked,
the two of them what are you doing
and do the both of you need help?
Natasha tells Thato it seems that
someone has taken Clint book report
and he worked really hard on it. Oh
dear Clint said Thato I think you
better tell Mrs Johnson before she
comes around to collect the book
reports.
A few months after the Mr Bones incident…..

9. As the teacher starts to collect everyone book report, Melissa tries to cheer Clint
up by telling him a joke but that doesn’t work. Then Clint notices something on
Melissa desk, he says Melissa can I see your report and she shows it to him.
Then Clint shouts out at Melissa this is my book report how could you take it, the
work does not belong to you. Melissa was so shocked she wanted to cry, Clint I
never took your work I swear, I did my own report over the weekend. Clint was
not hearing it and neither was Natasha, ‘well it difficult to believe you Melissa
because you are always pulling pranks on everyone’ said Natasha.

10. Thato was so shocked she couldn’t
believe Melissa would do something
like this .Melissa likes to pull pranks
on everyone but she really wasn’t a
thief. There something fishy going on
here thought Thato. The teacher told
everyone to calm down and she was
going to have to call Melissa parents.
Melissa was so sad she started to cry
and Clint and Natasha were very
angry and that left Thato in the middle
and she did not want to choose
between her friends.

Book Report
Due: Today

11. As Thato was finishing her homework, Neo
came running in dressed up like Batman and
running around with his silly water gun, he
looked ridiculous. ‘Hello, Thato, what you
doing?’ said Neo in his fake Batman voice.” I
know it’s you, Neo nobody is fooled by your
Batman outfit”. I don’t think so says Neo the
kids next door did not see me sneak into his
yard and listen to his conversation. Really said
Thato, sneaking around in people’s yards is a
criminal offense; Batman is a hero, defender
for justice not a defender for crime.

12. Thato notices that Neo had a cellphone strapped to his belt. Neo what
are you doing with dad’s cellphone, recording the neighbours
conversation. Neo that’s rude but let’s hear what the cell phone
recorded. As Thato listens to the conversation on the cell phone she
cannot believe her ears. She gives Neo a big hug and tells him he
really is Batman. Thato takes the cellphone she could not wait for
school tomorrow.

13. The next day Thato goes to school and plays
the recording for Mrs Johnson, Clint,
Natasha and Melissa. Thato next door
neighbour who is regularly being spied on by
Neo from time to time, is non-other than
Zane Wilkinson the boy that Melissa pulled a
prank on and he accidently fell into Mr
Bones. He wanted to get back at Melissa,
because she made the whole class laugh at
him. While Clint, Natasha and Melissa were
talking about their weekend they left their
homework on the table, Zane saw his
opportunity and took Melissa work and put
Clint's work on her desk so that Melissa
friends will be angry with her and she will feel
sad and alone just the way he felt.

14. The lesson here said Mrs Johnson is that we
should always be considerate to others feelings
because they will get hurt if we make fun of
them and she went on to say next time tell an
adult how you feel and they will be able to help
you, it a better choice than getting the person
in trouble and sometimes we need to trust our
friends word because they might be telling the
truth. Well done to Thato for trusting Melissa
and finding the truth about the situation and not
accusing her for taking the report. There was
alot of apologising, Melissa apologised to Zane
for tying his shoelaces and Zane apologised to
Melissa for getting her into trouble, Clint and
Natasha apologised to Melissa for not believing
her.

15. During lunch time Thato, Melissa, Clint, Natasha and Zane were playing
on the jungle gym, Melissa asked Thato “How did you find out it was
Zane?’’. Thato replied “it was Batman....... . Thato was now happy at
Greenlands primary school. She had new friends and she and her little
brother got along better.
