Nifty is expected to have a mildly negative opening around 7860. It closed higher by 0.38% supported by positive global cues and confidence in passing the GST bill. BankNifty closed at 16762 with a 0.15% gain and is expected to trade with negative bias below 17000. Nifty seems range bound between 7700-7900 and needs to sustain above 7900 for upside momentum.

Nifty Intraday
Today, We may witness mild negative opening in Nifty around 7860
level on back of SGX Nifty and other Asian counters which is
trading on mixed note today.
Benchmark index -- Nifty has closed higher with gain of
over quarter a per cent amid strong global cues. Investors'
sentiment remained upbeat with Finance Minister Arun Jaitley
exuding confidence in getting the GST Bill passed in the upcoming
monsoon session. Jaitley has said that he has spoken to the chief
ministers of all states, including those ruled by the UPA and the
Congress, and they are a âstrong supporterâ of the idea. Further,
support also came in with Economic affairs secretary Shaktikanta
Das stating that the Indiaâs pace of economic expansion is likely to
exceed the governmentâs initial projection this year, accelerating to
about 8% if the country receives normal levels of seasonal rainfall.
Besides, buying in oil marketing companiesâ shares too supported
sentiments after increasing prices of petrol by 83 paise per liter
and diesel rates by Rs 1.26 per liter in order to align the domestic
rates of the automobile fuels with global prices.
The gainers in Nifty index were ONGC, AXISBANK, ULTRTACEMCO,
HDFC, BPCL. While on the other hand, top losers were EICHERMOT,
NTPC, AUROPHARMA, ADANIPORTS, KOTAKBANK.

ď BankNifty closed at 16762 with gain of 0.15%. BankNifty opened on positive note but soon shifted its
move in sideways. Index reversed its gain in later part of the day.
ď As of now there is divergence in the composition on BankNifty counters. Private sector banks lead on
rotation basis but PSB continued to lag.
ď Among BankNifty index 6 banking stock ended on negative note, some Private sector bank had
performed very well but in some counters mild profit taking has been observed like YESBANK and
KOTAKBANK .
ď Going forward, BankNifty likely to trade with negative bias till it sustain below 17000 level. On down
side immediate support will be 16350 level.

ď Intraday volatility continued to spread through the day. Nifty opened gap up note, remained higher till
mid noon but reversed thereafter.
ď Nifty closed at 7890 level with gain of 30 points or 0.38%. From candlestick perspective Nifty has formed
shooting star however confirmation required.
ď Nifty is sustaining above 21 day short term moving average and 250 day long term moving average.
ď Going forward, Nifty seems to be in the range of 7700 to 7900. Fresh upside momentum can be expected
above 7900 level only. On downside immediate support will be around 7860 and 7770 level.

Derivative Front:
The VIX, a gauge for market's short term expectation of
volatility decreased by 3.87% and reached 16.37. The Nifty
was up by 30.00 points or 0.38% to settle at 7,890.75
The top gainers from the F&O segment were Sun TV Network,
Motherson Sumi Systems and Syndicate Bank. On the other
hand, the top losers were Eicher Motors, NTPC and Aurobindo
Pharma. In the index options segment, maximum OI was being
seen in the 7800-8500 calls and 7000-7900 puts. In today's
session, while the traders preferred to exit 7100 put, heavy
buildup was seen in the 7900 put. On the other hand, traders
exited from 7800 Call, while 8050 call witnessed considerable
OI addition.
The Nifty Put Call Ratio (PCR) finally stood at 0.94 for May
month contract. The top five scrips with highest PCR on OI
were Syndicate Bank (1.49), Indusind Bank (1.46), Axis Bank
(1.35), UCO Bank (1.14) and Zee Entertainment (1.11).
