1. Jeannette C. Brodeur | Editor, Shalom New Haven
Jeannette Brodeur is the editor of Shalom New Haven, a publication of the Jewish Federation of
Greater New Haven, located in Woodbridge, and is also a freelance writer for the Forman School
in Litchfield. She also volunteers her time helping the FOCUS Center for Autism in Canton, and
as a reader/Mentor for the Jewish Coalition For Literacy in the New Haven Public Schools.
Jeannette has worked as a journalist for more than 30 years for many different publications,
including the Naugatuck Daily News, the Bloomfield Journal, the Simsbury News, the Citizens’
News and the New Britain Herald.
She served for many years as an editor for The New Jersey Herald, the only daily newspaper
published in Sussex County, New Jersey and one of the oldest in New Jersey.
In addition to being the editor of PA Today, a medical publication for physician assistants,
Jeannette also worked as a contributing writer for several medical publications owned by Valley
Forge Press in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania.
She also was employed as a news writer/sales person for Construction Data Corp, one of the
largest construction publications in the industry.
A graduate of Southern CT State University with a BS degree in Journalism, she is the recipient
of the CT State Scholar award, the United Way Combined Health Appeal Media Award for
excellence in reporting and writing and the Construction Data Corporation Top Achiever Award
for the most contacts and successful business reporting in the construction industry.
Jeannette volunteers her time helping the FOCUS Center for Autism in Canton, and as a
reader/Mentor for the Jewish Coalition for Literacy in the New Haven Public Schools.
She serves as the President of the Plymouth Special Education PTA (SEPTA). She has been an
active member of SEPTA for many years, serving first as secretary and vice president and as
president for the last few years. As the mother of three special needs children, special education
remains an issue very close to her heart. Jeannette was also chosen by the Superintendent of
Schools to serve on the school district’s search committee to interview candidates for a new
Special Education Director. She had also worked for several years as the chairman of the school
district’s Reflections program, a national PTA program which promotes the arts in schools.
Jeannette volunteers her time as a board member and secretary for both the Plymouth
Community Food Pantry Board of Directors and the Plymouth Democratic Town Committee.
Born and raised in Waterbury, she has lived in Terryville for 10 years, and is married to Todd
Brodeur.
