2. INTRODUCTION AND OVERVIEW
– Gender discrimination against women is most commonly found in the work
environment.
– In the work place, gender discrimination can be highlighted by supporting
judicial cases and current events that base emphasis on modern ethical and
biblical principles that overall can cause a negative impact on business.
However, this problem can be avoided thanks to certain implications and
recommendations.
3. Topic and Ethical and Biblical
Principles
– Gender discrimination against women has been happening for centuries. It is
most commonly found in a work environment. However, many individuals turn a
blind eye to the situation or do not have the confidence in their education and
knowledge of the law to use their voice to speak up if it is happening to them or
they see this happening to someone else.
– In God’s eyes men and women are equal. Genesis 2:22 says “And the rib that
the Lord God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her
to the man.” God intended for Adam and Eve to be and always be equal
partners. That is why God took a rib from Adam to make Eve to show that inside
we all have basically the same anatomy.
4. Supporting Cases and Impact on
Business
– Supporting Case: Meritor Savings Bank v. Vinson (1986)
– Many may say that gender discrimination is not a major topic of concern for a
business. Business owners, however, may disagree strongly with that statement.
If a woman who is discriminated against because she is solely a woman this
could potentially create a lot of problems for the business because one: law
suits may follow with said woman’s claims and two: if it gets out that this
company discriminates based on your gender, then no one is going to want to
work for that company, therefore creating even more problems for the
company.
5. Conclusion
– Gender discrimination against women is the work environment is an ongoing
situation. Numerous cases are available to the public to educate on this topic of
concern.
– Remembering that we are equal in God’s eyes and remembering that certain
laws have been put in place in case this situation happens to you should give
you the confidence on how to handle the situation.
