Sikaflex® PowerCure adhesives are accelerated curing one-component materials. Sikaflex® PowerCure adhesives are mixed with 2% of a water-based accelerator paste to speed up curing and ensure through curing. The acceleration does not change the final material properties and enables engineers to quickly scale an adhesive bonding process without re-engineering the joint design. PowerCure refers to the packaging and dispensing system in small pack size, while Sikaflex® Booster is used for the same materials for bulk dispensing.
Up to 60% less packaging waste
Secured product availability
Faster extrusion rate than common two-component materials
Nowadays (2022), the availability of this kind of packaging is very limited in the European market, and thus many adhesives have become unavailable for manufacturers. As a result, the unavailable adhesive may lead to a stop of the production line: impacting ones revenue and ability to supply.

Editor's Notes
If we take a regular 1C, moisture curing adhesive as the base line. This applies to both PUR and SMP/STP technologies. These systems are very widely used thanks to their reliability and ease of use. Their weakness is the slow cure rate because the curing depends on the migration of humidity from the air. If applied in large beads or during winter, the curing can take weeks to reach final performance.
Alternative technology are 2 component adhesives, they cure by mixing a A and B component together and provide fast strength development. Since their curing depends on mixing A and B, the performance depends also on the accuracy of the dosing and mixing. They also exist in performance levels completely different to 1C PUR or SMP solutions. For the comparison here we stay with a spec that requires a performance that can be achieved with 1C PUR or SMP adhesives. When using 2C material out of small pack units, using them generates a lot of packaging waste. They are typically packed in a plastic cartridge.
Now with Sikaflex Booster Technology, we take a regular 1C adhesive and mix it with a small amout of water paste. This enables these products to cure from inside and outside. Another benefit is that the final performance of the booster cured material is similar to 1C material. The system is therefore fail safe and much less depend on dosing and mixing accuracy. Sikaflex Booster is very popular from bulk dispensing in automotive and the transportation industry. And it also comes with a new, low waste dispensing and packaging for small pack use. But more about this later…
