1. To Whom It May Concern:
My name is Brian Cuvo and I am writing this letter of recommendation on behalf of Mr. David Gebler. I had the distinct
pleasure of working with Mr. Gebler for two years at Imagine Foundations at Leeland Public Charter School. While I
worked with Mr. Gebler, I saw him grow in his teaching abilities from a first year teacher to a teacher leader. Every
challenge that came Mr. Gebler’s way he faced head on. As a result, he was able to communicate effectively with parents
on how their children were doing in Language Arts, manage a classroom effectively without needing assistance, and most
importantly, provide his students with a first-class education.
As a teacher,Mr. Gebler was assigned to teach 7th
and 8th
grade Language Arts. Mr. Gebler always made very detailed
and creative lesson plans and implemented these lesson plans with fidelity. Through different activities such as student
produced questions for novels, weekly response papers, character journals, and station activities which promoted
differentiated instruction, Mr. Gebler always made Language Arts a very enjoyable experience for his students. And
when Mr. Gebler had a question about something in the lesson plan format or the curriculum, he always made sure to ask.
He understood that nobody can do it by themselves and was very proactive in seeking out assistance.
Another of Mr. Gebler’s strengths was classroom management. For many first year teachers, this can prove to be a
struggle. Not so with Mr. Gebler. In having a group of students that were considered difficult, Mr. Gebler was able to
manage their behavior so that the main focus in class was on learning. This learning was not dominated by disruptive
students because of Mr. Gebler’s management techniques. As previously mentioned, he was proactive in this by planning
engaging lessons. He also used the school’s PBIS program, called parents if there was an issue, and built strong
relationships with his students to prevent student misbehavior.
While Mr. Gebler is a great teacher in the classroom, he also contributes to his school outside of the classroom. During
his time at Imagine Foundations at Leeland, he planned severalfield trips to the Library of Congress, a Baltimore Orioles
game, King’s Dominion, and the National Holocaust Museum. Last year,Mr. Gebler was also tasked with planning each
month’s Character Assembly. Lastly, Mr. Gebler often helped out with other school events, such as the Student-Staff
Basketball Game and the 8th
Grade Promotional Ceremony. It is clear that Mr. Gebler is important to the school both
inside and outside of the classroom.
In closing, I wholeheartedly recommend Mr. Gebler for a teaching position. In the classroom he has provided his students
with a first-class education. He has been able to do this because of his great classroom management skills and his
engaging lesson plans. Mr. Gebler is also instrumental in making sure his students receive educational opportunities
outside of the classroom. On a personal note, I have worked as a teacher for eight years. I have worked with many
different teachers. Out of all of those teachers,I hold none in higher regard than Mr. David Gebler. He will make a great
asset to any school’s teaching staff. If you would like to discuss this further, my contact information is listed below.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Mr. Brian Cuvo
