topicand of allegoryinordertocomplete thisassignment. The finishedproductshouldhave the following:1) A writtenstory,2) Accompanyingdrawn/
artisticallycreatedimagesorstill frame shotstoserve aspicturesforthe story,and 3) a story that isa representative forsomethingsociallyorhistorically
important(anallegory)
Objective:Studentswillcreate theirownallegorical storytodevelopgrade level literaryanalysisskillsandabilities
MD Common Core Standard: III.Fiction,Non-Fiction,andDramaB. Novel:Animal Farm
Core Knowledge:Standard : RL.8.2 – Determine a theme or centralidea of a text andanalyze its development over thecourse of the text,including its relationship tothe
characters,setting,and plot; provide an objectivesummary of the text. L.8.5 – Demonstrate understanding of figurativelanguage,word relationships,and nuances in word
meanings.
Methods for the Pictures: I recommend using a children’s story format or comic book format (Example on the back). This should be bigger than a page,h owever; show meeffort.
You could alsomake a booklet, poster board, etc; whatever you thinkis required for the completion of this. Ask me questions in private if you areunsure.
Materials:1 )Something towrite/drawon 2) Coloring utensils 3) IMAGINATION (Sing it with me) 4)Whatever else you thinkis required for this assignment (see #3….

Allegorical Examples: You will need tocome upwith an allegory on your own! You could potentially create an allegory on current socialreform (health care,Internet
Censorship),localchanges (new school procedures), or historical change (CivilRights Movement,President Obama Election). Whatever you CHOOSE,you need totellme what it is,
and it needs tobe ambigiuous (donot create an allegory of the Civil Rights Movement by writing a story with Dr.King or Rosa Parks in it….This is not allegory). You are encouraged
to use Fable elements such as talking animals. You can even have magical elements; it is up toy ou! (Immaaagginnnaaatttiiioooonnnn!)
Grading Rubric:(All points are subject tomy judgement)
Points Worth Expectations
7.5 You have clearly spent time to decorate/draw your story. It really shows a great amount ofwork,time and energy.
7.5 Your story matches the pictures you have included and works well with the project goals
15 Your story successfully captures the allegory you were trying to make. Somewhere on your project,you have written
WHAT your allegory/story is representative of: For example,mine is the American lesson “You Reap What You Sow”
(look on the back).
