5. Each Meter Or Rebuild Kit Comes With
a Meter Calibration Number
6. Turbine Flow Meter
• Calibration Factor should come with meter or rebuild kit
and should be attached to meter.
• Nominal Calibration Values can be used for meters as a
reference point if calibration number is missing such as 3
pulses/ gal for a 8 inch turbine flow meter.
• For low flow rates 15 Barrels a minute or less a 4 inch
meter would be better to use than a 8 inch meter.
• Turbine flow meters wear out and become less efficient but
can be rebuilt.
• Mag Pick Up Sensors are used to measure pulses.
• Arrow on Meter shows which direction to install.
• Software measuring Rate usually uses calibration number
from meter.
12. Mag Meter Set Up
• Rosemount mag meters use the flow tube tag information to
program the transmitter.
• Follow company guide lines on set up because each company has
their specific programing instructions to match their software.
Accufrac set up is different than NOV Rolligon Set UP.
• Endress Hauser flow tube and transmitter are a match and comes
with a calibration chip.
• Flow Tube has a arrow on it for direction of flow.
• All Transmitters can be used to Auto- Trim or Zero Mag meter. They
must be shut in and full of liquid not moving. Coil Freq. must be 30
• Pulse Test Mode can be used to simulate a rate. 1000 hertz
simulated will most likely give you max flow rate.
• Review Manufacture Manual for instillation instructions and trouble
shooting steps. Most manuals have flow charts for programming
instructions and how to zero meter.
14. Mag Meter Trouble-Shooting
• Pie Frequency Generator can be used to simulate frequency
through mag meter cables to check software, connections,
and cables.
• LCR meter is used to check flow tube electrodes while in
process full of liquid.

• The above link will take you to a very good manual on how
to trouble shoot a mag meter with LCR meter and its easy
to do.
• On transmitter, press Aux Functions until Pulse Output Test
is displayed. Use the left arrow to move from left to right,
and up arrow to increase numbers. 1000 Hz = Max Rate.
