Studies to Advance Dentistry
Since 2002, Dash Point Family Dental has been
providing high quality, state-of-the-art dental
services to children and adults. Dash Point Family
Dental’s practicing dentist, Dr. Don Moore, has
several memberships with various organizations,
one of which is the American Dental Association.

Studies to Advance Dentistry
Since 1859, the American Dental Association (ADA)
has been dedicated to the advancement and growth
of oral health. To that end, the American Dental
Association’s Research Institute conducts studies on
various oral health issues. Currently, the Institute is
working on several projects to help advance the
field. The Aerosol Research Project works to assess
the risk of splatter aerosols during various dental
treatments. Through the results of this study, the
ADA will develop guidelines to help reduce the
potential hazards of aerosols.

The Research Institute also conducts research to
look into how sterilize dental hand pieces. With the
large amount of microorganisms that come into
contact with dental hand pieces, it has been
speculated that different types of sterilization can
create a higher risk of cross contamination. The
results of the Research Institute’s studies show that
steam sterilization is the most effective way to
clean hand pieces. As the Institute continues to
conduct research into new and emerging problems
in the dentistry field, it helps contribute to the ADA’
s goal of advancing oral health.
