completion of witness statements and documentation used to assess students

Other Experience in Relation to Teaching:
Whilst at college I had additional experience working with pupils at key stage 3 and 4
as one of the units of study was Theatre in Education in which we toured many
schools offering the performance of an educational play as part of an enrichment
programme. After each performance we interacted with the pupils and evoked further
understanding and acknowledgement of the subject content raised, we did this
through Q&A and interactive exercises relating to the play and the characters
portrayed. At university I independently directed a play and was responsible for
collating the performance, from script to stage, I utilised many physical and vocal
exercises I have been taught over the years and employed various performance
methods to create a unique acting approach.
During summer break I took a distant learning course in D.I.E and learnt the
fundamentals behind the teaching of drama and the mandatory teaching
requirements of the subject area, according to curriculum. I discovered effective
teaching approaches to each strand of the syllabus, whilst broadening my subject
knowledge and learning how to mould the discipline of drama to be a valuable tool
which can be utilised as a kinaesthetic approach to any subject area.
Relevant knowledge and Experience Regarding Subject Area:
During my time spent in education and as an independent actor I have explored
various traditions of performance and have an in depth understanding of many
stylistic acting approaches, some of these being, Konstantin Stanislavsky’s methods
of naturalism, Bertolt Brecht’s conventions of Epic Theatre, Artauds theatre of the
absurd, Tzara’s approach to Dadaism and William Shakespeare’s use of language in
accordance to classical performance. I have also studied le- coque’s methods of
physicality, Peter Brooks theories on theatricality, the disciplines of bio-mechanics,
existentialism and Ionesco’s use of surrealism. I have directed performance as well
as written for performance, performed as a solo artist and have technical experience

within lighting and set design. My knowledge and understanding of the intimate
connection between the body and voice in performance is vast, both practically and
theoretically, as an actor my greatest strength is versatility and I wish to demonstrate
this as a core component to any aspiring actor’s dramatic repertoire.
