Measures of Dispersion and Variability: Range, QD, AD and SD
Meeting
1. Year 12 / 7 Radio advert
The main audio element in our advert surrounds the theme of Les Miserable (reasons due to
the production & performance courses being one of the main attractions to Ringwood school
sixth form).
With the year 7 edition we would use more academic sounds found around Ringwood School
(I.e Science teachers discussing to class)
Main Backing track (MBT) - Do you hear the people sing (sung by BTEC performer)
Other Track Elements (OTE) -
English teacher & Class
Café sounds
whistle on football pitch
School bell
(general school sounds, these sounds would not have any copyright claims to them as they
will be created by us)
These sounds will be incorporated through the use of sound scaping (The leader or one
member of the group acts as conductor, whilst the rest of the group are the 'orchestra'. Using
their voice, the group paints a soundscape of a particular theme or mood, for example the
surrounding environment of Ringwood Sixth Form)
Effects on audio - (Maybe) having medium fade in of MBT at the start and end of advert,
dimming in volume when MBT cuts to OTE. Towards the end of the advert MBT gains more
volume as it ends.
If considering this project for a real client/project we would have to consider the legal action
of copyrights and the restrictions it holds. We would take the necessary actions to secure the
rights of use for using the song (payment of over £30000 for legal consideration and more for
using the song marketing) and otherwise credit the creators of the song in the way they wish
to be credited.
Copyrights - As the rights for this song is above our budget given, if practicing this project
for a real brief and client we would look towards the first option discussed. However, if the
budget was restricting in price we would look towards an alternative in the MBT and would
resort to creating our own original backing track and other .
Alternative Backing tracks for Adverts
These are tracks we feel that could replace music for the advert. The track titled Crusade
Heavy Industry would be a suitable alternative to the Le Mis track due to the dark, moving
melody; and the other two tracks from Bensound would do to use as general backing if we
were to go with an academic theme for the lower school advert (as well as staying within our
budget).
