THE FUTURE OF COMMUNICATION
TECHNOLOGY BY: DANNY BURNS
INTRODUCTION
We live in a very interesting time in human history. In the past
decade we have made many advances in technology that have
drastically altered the way we live. Major advances in
communication technology has changed how we communicate
interpersonally in our everyday Life
FILM AND TELEVISION
Television is arguably the king of media. Almost 100% of all
households in the U.S. have at least one television, and with the
average person watching at least 5 hours a day, that adds to a
LOT of screen time.
RISE OF ONLINE STREAMING
A popular alternative to cable and
satellite TV is online streaming.
Services like Netflix and Hulu
allow people to watch movies and
TV shows for a much lower fee
than todays satellite and cable
rates. They also create their own
films, many of which have
received very high ratings.
Because of this, traditional
television is in trouble
CURRENTLY…
According to an article from Wired, online will soon be the only
source for TV. Researchers found that total film viewing over the
internet grew by 388 percent in mid-2014 compared to the same
time a year earlier—a near-quintupling. And the increase is more
than just a few diehards binge-watching: the number of unique
viewers well more than doubled, growing 146 percent year-over-
year.
ONLINE REVOLUTION
Expect most future content for TV and
movies to be streamed online. As more
and more people stream content over the
internet, Major television networks will
start to dwindle and feature less shows in
the future. Because streaming services
offer a lot of content at the fraction of the
cost of cable and satellite packages, it
doesn’t look like online streaming is
slowing down soon. If anything, television
networks will start streaming services of
their own.
RISE OF VIDEO GAMING
One of the most popular forms of entertainment today is the
video game industry. “More than 150 million Americans play
video games, and 65 percent of American households are home
to at least one person who plays video games regularly, or at
least three hours per week.”
TODAY
The most recent advancement in video gaming has been virtual
reality headsets, which make the games a more emmersive
experience. However, many believe that the future will be much
more interactive.
THE FUTURE?
This is the Enhance Gaming Body
Suit. This suit is a way for players
to experience a game with their
whole body! There are 26
vibrators in the suit that make
you feel as if you are in the game
itself.
INTERNET
Today the Internet is a tool used for almost anything. People use
it for paying bills, socializing, working, shopping; it can be used
for almost anything really. Unfortunately, the Internet is not free,
but maybe in the future…
FREE INTERNET FOR ALL!
“After Tesla and SpaceX, PayPal
founder Elon Musk is turning his
attention back to the internet: he’s
awaiting permission to send almost
4,000 small satellites into low-
Earth orbit that would beam back a
high-speed wireless signal to
everyone on the planet. And things
are moving fast: Musk hopes to
launch a series of test satellites in
2016, with a view to completing the
project by 2020.”

A HOPEFUL FUTURE
Having free internet access would provide wonderful
opportunities for people. Those who previously didn’t have a way
to access the Internet would be able to use it and access
information at the click of a button for free.
IN CONCLUSION
The advances we have made in technology in the past few decades
have forever changed the way we live. There seems to be a new
invention or gadget everyday; it’s very exciting. I don’t know what
new technologies the future will bring, but I think that will be as
wonderful and as fascinating than we can imagine.
