1. In what waysdoes yourmediaproduct

conventionsof real media products?

2. Conventions of my Music Video
• Camera Shots: I have used a variety of camera shots/angles
including Long Shots, Close ups follow cams etc... in order to
create emphasis on the location, artists and there emotions
they feel during specific moments and how they all link into
each other to capture the atmosphere.
• Camera Movements: Pans, Tracking etc. have been used
throughout to represent the Emotions of my artist and allow
them to get a feel to how unstable his head is, and to get across
to the audience the setting of the shoot
• Mise-en-scene: I have styled my actor’s costumes to match the
current fashion present at the moment and to show that he has
gone walking into the wild. His placement during the music
video at certain momentsis to show that he has gone away from
the world to be along and enable him to think (eg: the shot of
him sat alone on a rock in the cove.)
3. Conventions of a Music Video
• Lighting: I have used only natural lighting in my music
video as I believe natural lighting is the best and most
effective on film than artificial which made the film seem
un natural, forced and unprofessional in relation to the
kind of real feel that I wanted to create.
• Editing: Allows transitions and sudden changes from one
scene to another. I have used many editing transitions
throughout my piece as the transitions are used to create
various effects and to snap in and out of slip syncing .
• Sound: I have used the music and vocals as the only sound
throughout my music video. I have done this as the songs
lyrics are very powerful so any other noise would have
made the song less meaningful
4. Conventions of my Music Video
• Props: Used to create meaning to an object and/or lyric.
• Colour: Used to create a desired atmosphere and/or mood.
For my music video, I have used most of the classic Music Video
Conventions, e.g.Colour, Editing, Camera Movements and Shots, Lighting etc.
as I believe it would enable me to produce an effective and professional
looking music video that would fit into the margin of music videos shown on
TV.
It was easy yet lucky for me to achieve maybe some of the more complicated
conventions such as lighting and color as the date that I filmed my shoot was
an extremely clear day with just the right lighting to make the shots work
I have used a multiple camera angles to create depth and show the actors
mood while showing a mini, quite simple to understand narrative.
5. Appealing to an audience…
By using the conventions that are seen and included in many famous music
videos it will immediately be visually appealing to an audience that are so
used to seeing that quality of video(teenagers).
As It is a familiar format for the audience to view this will draw them in,
then once the music video progresses the more and more classic
conventions such as a variety of camera angles and complex editing, it will
allow the audience to easily label the piece as a music video of a high
quality with a clear narrative.
6. Narrative
The narrative used in my music video is to about my actor who
recently broke up with his girlfriend realizing that the reason he
failed to have a good relationship with her was because he let the
fame get to him and didn’t like being followed everyday and not
allowed any privacy and being given a bad name, he has finally
got to terms through getting alone away from the world that he
shouldn’t care if everyone is watching what he is doing and he
should be able to commit to her without a care of what anyone
else think about him as only he knows what the right thing to do
is and who he truly is really is, so his song is about showing the
girl that he loves that he will be there for her.
