Evaluation of stop motion
1. Evaluation of Stop Motion Animation
1. outline the task set: we had to create a stop moving video in 2 and a half hours
using the app 'stop motion'.
2. who i worked with and what they contributed: I worked with Lucie Webster and
Megan Digby. Lucie created all 4 of the figures along with moving the props each
time we took a picture. Megan picked out the sound and also got the leaves for the
base of the setting along with making the scene have a sky. I drew the background
and took the photos of the stop motion.
3. outline your concept: our idea was to do a snip-it proposal scene where the
proposal is actually happening between a man and a woman. It is set in paris next to
the eiffel tower. In the background the sun is setting over the city (which you can see
just under the eiffel tower) and the autumnal leaves are just on the ground.
4. equipment/app used: we used the app 'stop motion' to take the pictures of this and
it automatically combined them all together. As for out backdrop, we used a
cardboard box and paper which we drew on to create the background -using
colouring pencils to add colour to the sky and the sunset. We used the same box to
cut out the people that we used. There were 4 figures but only 2 characters as they
changed their posture. We also used cardboard for the ring box. The other props we
used were leaves to create an autumnal effects and glue to keep everything in place.
5. pre-production:before we started filming we had to form an idea followed by
creating a background/setting and characters. Then we had to rehearse how we
wanted to figures to move and how far they were going to move each time. We did
this by looking at the positions of the leaves at the bottom (both in frame and not).
production: each time we took a picture we moved a character to the position we
wanted them to be in and then took another picture and so on. Overall we took about
20 pictures which gave us around 4 seconds of video.
6. post production process: we picked out the music to play over the top of our
pictures.
7. www: we had a clear narrative that was understandable to the audience.
8. ebi: we could make it longer and have more time to sort out the sound. we could also
make the background better (if we had more time/more colours)
9. what did you learn: i learnt how to make a stop motion video even though it was
very short.
