- 3. JAN 1, 1850 - THE ORIGINAL DISHWASHER The first dishwasher was invented by Joel Houghton in 1850. It was invented before the Civil War in order to lighten the burden of household chores. It was made with a wooden machine, with a hand-turned wheel that splashed water on dishes.
- 5. AUG 14, 1886 - JOSEPHINE’S DISHWASHER The dishwasher was improved in 1886. The new design was made with racks to hold plates, saucers and cups. Her remastered invention was released at the 1893 World's Fair. The new idea was only bought by hotels and restaurants. Cochran was known to have invented the first hand-operated mechanical dishwasher.
- 7. OCT 12, 1929 - INDOOR PLUMBING DISHWASHER The permanent plumbing was introduced in 1920s. The Europe's first electric top-loading dishwasher was invented by Neil Pooley in 1929. Neil Pooley's dishwasher was invented because of the installation of indoor plumbing.
- 9. MAR 4, 1940 - WILLIAM HOWARD LEVINES’ DISHWASHER The dishwasher that most resembles what we know was invented by William Howard Livens. The dishwasher was invented during the great depression. This machine was composed by a front door for loading, a rotating sprayer and wire racks. In 1940, electric elements used for drying the dishes were incorporated into the design.
- 11. OCT 12, 2016 - THE CURRENT DISHWASHER The first automated dishwasher was introduced by Miele in 1960. Back then, the cost of a dishwasher was hated by most of the people. But the price of dishwashers were gradually decreased in the 1980's, which is why they became one of the most popular kitchen appliances in America. It is composed by a stainless steel and fingerprint proof material. Finally, it is known for cleaning much better and faster than its predecessors.
