1. HOW DOES YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT USE,
DEVELOP OR CHALLENGE FORMS AND
CONVENTIONS OF REAL MEDIA PRODUCTS?
2. During the planning of the storyline and
basics of what made a good thriller movie, I
had to analyze other movie which were of the
same relevance, genre and/or storyline. This
consisted of reading reviews and what
attributes were brought to the film to make it
as successful in the movie industry as it is
today.
3. I used various thriller movies, such as
Clockwork orange, American psycho,
Annie Hall and The Usual Suspects. This
was to help me get an idea of what I was
aiming for and act as a guideline for my
overall production.
4. The main characters that were
incorporated into my film were
late teens with the help of young
adults. This was due to the
unavailability of adults but I think
that the roles were still acted to
their best
5. In the previous films mentioned, there were
close ups of weapons to give suspense and
music to add emphasize as well as close ups
of facial expressions to show the actors
emotions and give the film a sense of
realism. This was then incorporated into
'Death by the shadow'.
6. I challenged the natural scheme of the
movie as I showed clips of the girls
alive whilst the killer spoke about how
he killed her. This gives a twist to the
movie and allows the audience to be
drawn into the movie and intrigued by
the words of the killer.
7. The settings I used differ from the
other movies mentioned as
everything is filmed in broad
daylight and has small cuts of trees
and the park at dusk and night.
8. Overall my production
challenges the conventions
and forms of media products
as I use different settings,
point of views. The features
are quite convincing and
display the typical forms and
conventions of any other
production.
