Who would be the audience for your media product?
Merissah Adams & Nikki Ojo
The target audience we aimed our media product at were 16-25 year olds. We felt that
this age group would be the most appropriate to target our film towards as through our
research we found that the 16-25 age group were most likely to watch thriller films,
we used the film 4.3.2.1 to analyse the statistics. We feel this because the main
characters’ are usually in their mid 20’s meaning that the age group can identify with
them more, thus making them a more captive audience. The social class of the females
in the film, they were middle class and lived in almost like run-down areas, we also
applied this to our thriller film. It was set in a local estate with flats and run-down
buildings which are displayed through the establishing shots in the thriller opening.
Our film is quite similar to 4.3.2.1 as in this film the females are in control whereas in
most thriller films the males are. We decided to incorporate that into our thriller film
with the actors being females, hence the name of our thriller film ‘Hoodletts’. We felt
that this would appeal to the 16-25 age group because they were a captive audience for
4.3.2.1 meaning they most likely be captive to ours. Our aim was to appeal to a broad
audience of people but we mainly targeted it at 16-25 year olds. Although our film
consists of female actors we believe that more males may watch the film in comparison
to females as more males watched 4.3.2.1, also because our storyline is cantered around
violence and crimes. However, what makes our film different from 4.3.2.1 is that the
thriller is all about females meaning that there will be more females being represented
in the film.
