Comments: The 1263 King Alexander III single malt honors the Mackenzie Clan member who saved King Alexander
in 1263. Supposedly a wild deer was coming straight at King Alexander, and he wassaved with one shot of an arrow.
The King granted the shooter the right to wear the stags head in his coat of arms. The head of the stag has been the
insignia of the Mackenzie clan and Dalmore single malt scotch ever since. If you’ve been reading my whisky notes,
you know that all whiskies Dalmore have been fairly disappointing. I only bought a sample (see photo right) to try
since I have been so disappointed by Dalmore in the past. The nose burn on this limits evaluating any aromas present,
but the taste is surprising. It has a solid warmth that lasts. It also is oily and viscous. The
finish is bitter, turning sour. Not one of my best like finishes. This Dalmore at least has
some character. Love the color. The aroma and finish, not so much. Over priced.
