Comparing City Life with Countryside Life Essays
Way of life differs when people live in different places. No doubt that people lifestyle will be influenced by the society and surrounding environment
where they live in. City life and countryside life are obviously very different in several ways, such as population, environment, and utilities. First, city
life and countryside life are different from population. In big cities there are many people who live there, because job opportunities are abundant and
the opportunity of better education. In fact, people live in urban areas because they want to have good jobs to get more money, and one of the best
ways to achieve that is education. Nowadays, there are a lot of good universities and college that are totally located in...show more content...
These absences of stressors can have a great effect on the overall quality of life and as one researcher notes, " People who are living in rural and
low density populated areas are less likely to have mental health problems than those living in urban areas and may also less likely to be exposed
to depression cases or mental illness once they have recovered from these in more densely populated areas (Combs, 2006). Third, city and
countryside are different in term of services. In big cities people are modern; they use much more modern technology, feel safe under the
protection of security, and many other services that make their live much easier such as transportation and health care. First of all, people use
modern technology such as computers, cell phones and internet. Second of all, the government provides security in various ways to protect people.
Third of all, city transportations are developed well, people can travel easily, and they are many ways of transportation they can choose to travel
with, such as "cars, metros, ships, and plans". Finally, big cities are not only big modern cities originally but also a face of a country, so government
always supports the best ways and medical services for people. For example, if a country is suffered by a spreading virus such as the swine flu, of

Canada And Us Cities Comparison
Comparison the cities of Canada and the U.S The article on About.com, "Comparing the City in the United States and Canada" by Ping Zhou
discussed the differences between cities of the U.S and Canada. These two countries are tied together either geographically or economically. Though
those cities of two countries share almost the same traits with each other, there are still some differences among them when "breaking down some of
those traits": Sprawl, Transportation and Ethnic Diversity. The first comparison is their sprawl. The sprawl of the cities in the U.S was not as broader
as the cities in the Canada. From 1970 to 2000, Most of the largest cities in the U.S gone through a decline on population. Conventional industrial cities

Comparing Urban And Suburban Lives
Urban and suburban lives, both are two sides of the coins. They represent different angles of human life. Each of them has its beauty and peculiarity,
which distinguishes it from the other. It is observed that both living styles have their strengths and weakness at the same time. The things which we
cannot find in rural life found in urban life. These are two different angles of life and represent certain traits of life in different colors. There are many
aspects of these two colors of life which have distinguishing influenced in the life. The pattern of life of human being can totally alter his personal,

The observable phenomenon is that people tend to move to urban life from rural settings. There are many background variables which are
responsible for this shift. These background variables vary from person to person. The noticeable fact is that economic factor is a chief element in
this respect and is common for all. Another emerging point is this respect is that people move from urban to suburban areas (Gallagher). This
phenomenon is denoting as urban sprawl. This shift of people is from urban to suburban regions. It is the third dimension of life which has its own
specialty. The matter of attention in this essay is to describe the shift of people from urban to suburban areas.
The phenomenon of urban sprawl describes the expansion of people from the center of a city to the outside of a city. These zones are characterized by

Two Contrasting Places In A Tale Of Two Cities
The inclusion of two contrasting places is an effective way for an author to represent motifs. For example in F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby,
West Egg and East Egg are utilized to represent old and new money and the beliefs and values that the people from these places posses. Through
thorough a comparison and contrast of these places much can be learned that may have been missed without considering what each place represents
which allows for enhancement of the novel as a whole. Specifically, in A Tale of Two Citiesby Charles Dickens, the setting takes place in both London
and Paris. In Paris turmoil is present as the average citizens plan to overthrow the French government for their harsh rule, and in London peace and a
sense of normalness...show more content...
Through this comparison it can be inferred that although there are differences between the cities, there is homogeneity between them as well.
"There were a king with a large jaw, and a queen with a plain face, on the throne of England; there were a king with a large jaw, and a queen with a
fair face, on the throne of France" (Dickens 13). The idiom used to describe the two kings exemplifies the similarities between England and France;
both countries were ruled by harsh authoritative rule. Dickens later illustrates this by satirizing the judicial systems in the two countries. Dickens
describes Darnay's trial in London in a way that gives the impression that the only reason Darnay is guilty is because the jury is loyal to the attorney
general and the attorney general finds Darnay guilty. "The jury, being a loyal jury ( as he knew they were), and being a responsible jury (as they
knew they were), must positively find the prisoner guilty, and make and end of him, whether they liked it or not" (Dickens 74). This underscores the
discredibility of the judicial system by entailing that the jury and people in the court to see someone get killed. Nevertheless, the judicial system in
Paris compared to London was unquestionably exceedingly atrocious. Once convicted of a crime it was ascertained that that person would be
beheaded. There was a higher chance of pigs flying than being proven innocent. Through the quotation, "There were twenty–three names, but only
twenty were responded to; for one of the prisoners so summoned had died in gaol and been forgotten, and two had already been guillotined and
forgotten" (Dickens 278), Dickens is able to personify the inhumanity in Paris. Essentially, there were so many people that were being killed that often
times it would go unrecognized if someone on the list was already killed. By

Two Neighborhoods
The convenience of living in an urban or suburban neighborhood can be appealing to many people. Choosing between areas can sometimes be
overwhelming for some individual. People are not only concerned about the safety of a community, but they are also concerned about the environment.
Although some neighborhoods might look attractive, people should consider the expense that comes with it, and how commuting will affect them in
the long run. Nevertheless, both neighborhoods have their specific advantages and disadvantages. When choosing between an urban or suburban
neighborhood, it is important for people to research the community, the expense, and convenience...show more content...
Another key point is commuting. People who live in the urban community have better access to public transportation. Citizens can easily get around by
walking, taking a bus, and riding the train at a lower cost. In contrast, owning a home in suburb can be costly for many people. Not only do people
have to keep up with their mortgages, but they sometimes have to pay a yard maintenance fee and their Home Owners Association (HOA) dues for the
up–keeping of the neighborhood which can be very costly. Besides the home cost, people who live in suburban neighborhoods do have the
convenience of traveling in the comfort of their own vehicle, and they do not deal with the concerns of public transportation. However, they still have
to deal with the cost for long commuting and the wear and tear of the vehicle.
Living in the inner–city and suburban neighborhood can be challenging and beneficial for some individuals, especially for career opportunity. Many
people who live in the urban communities have a better advantage in finding a job of their choice. Most corporations are located in the inner–city
which makes it easier for people to find a job. Despite the job opportunities in the inner–city, many of these corporations do not provide parking for
their employee which makes it difficult for many individuals. On the other hand, employment in the suburb is very limited and many of the
professional jobs are

Tale Of Two Cities Compare And Contrast Essay
In looking at the novel, A Tale of Two Cities, written by Charles Dickens, and the Masterpiece Theater film version, produced in 1989, three
similarities between the two can be found to include the characterization of Dr. Manette, the trial of Charles Darnay in London, and the history of
Madame Defarge. The novel and film, A Tale of Two Cities
, follow the characters in London and Paris in the midst of the time during and leading up
to the French Revolution. Throughout the story, there are many aspects that are present in both the novel and the film, those of which vary in type,
from characters to events to setting. Wherefore, three of the parallels present in the novel and film, A Tale of Two Cities, are the portrayal of Dr.
Manette, Darnay's trial in London, and Madame Defarge's backstory. One way in which the novel and the film are similar is the way in which Dr.
Manette is presented earlier in the story. The quote from the novel that shows...show more content...
The excerpt from the book that illustrates this takes place when Jerry Cruncher arrives at the courthouse for the trial of Charles Darnay.
"Everybody present, except the one wigged gentleman who looked at the ceiling, stared at him. All the human breath in the place rolled at him,
like a sea, or wind, or a fire. Eager faces strained round pillars and corners, to get a sight of him; spectators in back rows stood up, not to miss a hair of
him; people on the floor of the court laid their hands on the shoulders of the people before them, to help themselves, at anybody's cost, to a view of
him–stood a–tiptoe, got upon ledges, stood upon next to nothing, to see every inch of him" (75). Likewise, this scene in the movie features a rowdy
crowd that pays much attention to Charles Darnay, however, in the movie, also in the book, Sydney Carton's attention is fixed on the ceiling. Thus,
Darnay's trial in London in the book and the movie are

In the Age of Revolutions, the world had mixed views about the massive revolutions spreading across countries. As the revolutions became more
savage than civil, it became a popular topic regarding morals and revolutions itself. One of the biggest controversy was the French Revolution. The
arguments between England, who mostly opposed the brutal onslaught, and France, who approved of the sacrifices to achieve freedom. This essay
will examine the different outlooks of the two countries and the reasons for their own bias while showing how Charles Dickens', an English writer,
captures the essence of both sides in his novel A Tale of Two Cities.

In every country, the land is divided into sections of towns and cities. These towns and cities are homes to people who have looked upon their

Tale Of Two Cities Comparative Essay
Change is something that must come and will always come, whether it be for better or for worse. This is especially the case in the changing of power
in our world, to spark this change, people will fight until they die. Everybody can justify their plight with speeches of justice and necessity, but whether
or not the ends justify the means is something that every person must decide for themselves. The theme of revolution is explored in both A Tale of Two
Cities by Charles Dickens and Battleship Potemkin by Sergei Eisenstein, but their portrayals of it differ greatly. Throughout his Novel, Dickens clearly
shows that he sympathizes with the peasants, but that he has very mixed feelings towards the way that the revolutionaries get what they want....show

Both author's perspectives on revolution are displayed in the ending of their respective works and they could not be more different. A Tale of Two
Cities ends with the hero of the story: Carton about to be executed at the guillotine. The story does not end with a huge celebration, but it ends
melancholic and ambivalent. It is then stated, "Crush humanity out of shape once more, under similar hammers, and it will twist itself into the same
tortured forms" (Dickens 659). He is saying that regardless of the intent of the revolutionaries, since what they did was through similar means of the
aristocrats, everything will still end up the same way. He continues by saying, "Sow the same seed of rapacious license and oppression over again,
and it will surely yield the same fruit according to its kind" (Dickens 659). Since the revolutionaries used violence to get what they wanted, they are no
better than the aristocrats themselves and once they get into power, they will become the same as the aristocrats. They will continue the same cycle,
but they will now be the ones in power. The ending of A Tale of Two Cities emphasizes that the revolutionaries' violent means were contradictory to

A Tale Of Two Cities: A Comparison
Out of all the compelling characters in this story, Lucie Manette and Jarvis Lorry are the two that are most interesting to me. In the beginning of
the story, they were strangers. However, as the plot develops, we find out they have actually met before. When Lucie became an orphan, Lorry
took her to England to be raised. This action shows that Lorry cared for Lucie and wanted what was best for her. They meet again when he takes
Lucie to her father. Throughout the story, they grow a strong bond. In chapter twelve, we learn that Lorry cares for Lucie like family. When Mr.

Comparison Between City Life and Country Life
Essay question: city life and country life Final draft
Everyone has a different lifestyle. People sometimes have to decide where they want to live. Some people prefer to live in the city while other people
choose to live in the countryside. Their choice depends upon their bachground. City lifestyle and country lifestyle are two different types of living.
Although, these two types of living differ from each other by environment, job opportunities and cost of living; they also have similar features such as
daily routine, values and people live and work in these areas.

Another two differences between these places of living are job opportunities and cost of living. There are more job opportunities in the city. People in
the countryside have their farms. They grow different vegetables, fruits and make money on it. For instance, In Mekong delta farmers make two crops
a year. They are Summer–Autumn yield and Winter–Spring yield ("What's the difference", n.d.). Between these seasons of crop there is a distance.
They do not do anything during this period. In contrast, most people move to the city in order to find a job because it is easier there. For person who
has a good education, the city is the best way to earn money because different offices, companies, factories are located in cities ("What's the
difference", n.d.). For example, there are ChoRay hospital, Sacombank, Vietnam Airlines, National University in Ho Chi Minh city and these
companies usually hire masters, doctors, engineers ("What's the difference", n.d.). Also another difference between them is a cost of living. The cost of
living in the city is higher than the countryside, for instance goods are more expensive there ("Rural area", n.d.). In the country, most people have the
sufficient economy. They can grow plants and breed animals so expenditures are lower and they can live on their own. The country life is simple and
comfortable. Nevertheless, to rent a house, to buy food and to use a transport is more expensive in the city but the

There are also other factors that could explain the big differences between these cities. The ethnic and racial makeup of the people living there and
their educational levels could be a big difference. To really explain the increase or decline in both these cities is difficult because the two areas that

increase in the number of burglaries and almost every other crime as for Dallas, the crime rate there is down 6.4 percent. With the population in
Dallas being 1,197,816 and Cincinnati's population being 296,943 people would think that Dallas would be a city full of crime but Cincinnati is far
worse. According to NeighborhoodScout . com, on a scale of 100 to 1(100 is the safest) Cincinnati rates just a two. This scale shows that Cincinnati is
just safer then two percent of the cities in the United States of America. There are many factors that could explain why Cincinnati has one of the fasting
growing crime rates in the nation. One could be the economy where there is nine percent unemployment in the city alone. Another factor could be the
racial and ethnic makeup of the city. Looking at the Dallas, Texas crime rates, it rates a six in the crime index (NeighborhoodScout.com). This means
that Dallas, Texas is safer than six percent of the

New York Vs. Los Angeles City Essay
New York Vs. Los Angeles City: Which is Costly? Both, New York and Los Angeles are two great cities of the United States which grab the
attention of whole world but, compare to Los Angeles living in New York is very costly. While living in the either city is depend on individual
choice. Some peoples want to live either in New York or inLos Angeles. Both cities have different individual climate and attractions. Some factors
play a very important role which make New York very costly than Los Angeles are, expense of living, different individual taxes rate, financing and

other hand Los Angeles is developing horizontally.
Life in Two Cities Before I start to discusses whichcity is costly than other, I want to discusses about the climate and attraction of individual city.
Winter in New York is very frigid and land is covered with snow which is beautiful atmosphere. So people can do different activity like, skating on
ice and assembling of snow man. In contrast summer of Los Angeles is warm and winter is mild not extreme like New York so, people do lot of
outdoors activities throughout the whole year. Above information is very true for their related cities. In New York, "summers tend to be somewhat
mild and the south–eastern lowlands usually experience the warmest temperatures, as well as the biggest breaks between frosts.

A Tale Of Two Cities Comparison Analysis
The possibility of redemption is a major tenet of many religions: Hindus and Buddhists share the notion of karma, while Christians believe that belief
in Jesus Christ and His message will grant passage into Heaven. Under such tenets, even the worst sinners are able to ascend to the highest glory; for
example, St. Paul was once a persecutor of Christians until he converted due to having been struck blind by God. Such stories certainly play a role in
the enduring popularity of such religions, as it is comforting to know that even the worst sinners can become good. The contrast between the sinner and
a good–natured person elevates this, since the sinner must go through more personal reformation than a good–natured person would ever have to in
order to reach salvation. It also emphasizes the power of the force that is behind the personal reformation, as such a force must be very great in order
to turn someone into the opposite of his or her former self. Throughout literature, opposites are often used to demonstrate the effect of a certain force. In
A Tale of Two Cities
, Charles Dickens employs the motif of opposites by emphasizing character differences and changes in order to illustrate that
love is a force for redemption. Dickens compares love's redemptive powers with the destructive power of vengeance by contrasting Madame Defarge
with Lucie Manette and Miss Pross. While Madame Defarge is a force for destruction, Lucie is a force for salvation. Madame Defarge is consumed

City and suburb life
With an increase in urbanization, more people are moving to the industrial cities in pursuit of alternative lifestyle and jobs. Life in city and suburbs can
be compared and contrasted with various aspects in mind since they share quite some details in as much as they are vastly different. Firstly, the
transportation is more accessible in the city as compared to the suburb where there are no apt transport networks as compared to the city, among the
transport mode in the city are subways, busses, trams and ferries. These provide easy, fast and cheap means of getting around in the city in as much
as the streets are crowded. This is in contrast to the suburbs since owning a car is mandatory since such public transport systems are not available.
When the costs of insurance, fuel expenses and time of commuting are added up then transport in suburbs is seen to be expensive when compared to
that in the city. The easy transport in the city does not come all rosy since the city is also flooded with traffic jams due to congestion and this can
render transport slow. This is contrast with suburb life where there is no traffic and hence with no congestion traveling in suburbs is more peaceful
(Boulter, 2005). When it comes to activities in the city life offers more opportunities for activities for instance the many movie theatres, concerts,
professional sporting events, zoos, shopping malls, restaurants, museums and many more providing opportunities to take

  • 3. Comparing City Life with Countryside Life Essays Way of life differs when people live in different places. No doubt that people lifestyle will be influenced by the society and surrounding environment where they live in. City life and countryside life are obviously very different in several ways, such as population, environment, and utilities. First, city life and countryside life are different from population. In big cities there are many people who live there, because job opportunities are abundant and the opportunity of better education. In fact, people live in urban areas because they want to have good jobs to get more money, and one of the best ways to achieve that is education. Third, city and countryside are different in term of services. In big cities people are modern; they use much more modern technology, feel safe under the protection of security, and many other services that make their live much easier such as transportation and health care. First of all, people use modern technology such as computers, cell phones and internet. Second of all, the government provides security in various ways to protect people. Canada And Us Cities Comparison Comparison the cities of Canada and the U.S The article on About.com, "Comparing the City in the United States and Canada" by Ping Zhou discussed the differences between cities of the U.S and Canada. These two countries are tied together either geographically or economically. Though those cities of two countries share almost the same traits with each other, there are still some differences among them when "breaking down some of those traits": Sprawl, Transportation and Ethnic Diversity. The first comparison is their sprawl. The sprawl of the cities in the U.S was not as broader as the cities in the Canada. From 1970 to 2000, Most of the largest cities in the U.S gone through a decline on population. Conventional industrial cities ...show more content... • 7. Two Contrasting Places In A Tale Of Two Cities The inclusion of two contrasting places is an effective way for an author to represent motifs. For example in F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby, West Egg and East Egg are utilized to represent old and new money and the beliefs and values that the people from these places posses. Through thorough a comparison and contrast of these places much can be learned that may have been missed without considering what each place represents which allows for enhancement of the novel as a whole. Specifically, in A Tale of Two Citiesby Charles Dickens, the setting takes place in both London and Paris. In Paris turmoil is present as the average citizens plan to overthrow the French government for their harsh rule, and in London peace and a sense of normalness...show more content... Through this comparison it can be inferred that although there are differences between the cities, there is homogeneity between them as well. "There were a king with a large jaw, and a queen with a plain face, on the throne of England; there were a king with a large jaw, and a queen with a fair face, on the throne of France" (Dickens 13). The idiom used to describe the two kings exemplifies the similarities between England and France; both countries were ruled by harsh authoritative rule. Dickens later illustrates this by satirizing the judicial systems in the two countries. Dickens describes Darnay's trial in London in a way that gives the impression that the only reason Darnay is guilty is because the jury is loyal to the attorney general and the attorney general finds Darnay guilty. "The jury, being a loyal jury ( as he knew they were), and being a responsible jury (as they knew they were), must positively find the prisoner guilty, and make and end of him, whether they liked it or not" (Dickens 74). This underscores the discredibility of the judicial system by entailing that the jury and people in the court to see someone get killed. Nevertheless, the judicial system in Paris compared to London was unquestionably exceedingly atrocious. Once convicted of a crime it was ascertained that that person would be beheaded. There was a higher chance of pigs flying than being proven innocent. Through the quotation, "There were twenty–three names, but only twenty were responded to; for one of the prisoners so summoned had died in gaol and been forgotten, and two had already been guillotined and forgotten" (Dickens 278), Dickens is able to personify the inhumanity in Paris. Essentially, there were so many people that were being killed that often times it would go unrecognized if someone on the list was already killed. By Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Compare and Contrast Essay of Two Neighborhood Patricia Brown Ellen Beckford English 1101 13 February 2013 Two Neighborhoods The convenience of living in an urban or suburban neighborhood can be appealing to many people. Choosing between areas can sometimes be overwhelming for some individual. People are not only concerned about the safety of a community, but they are also concerned about the environment. Although some neighborhoods might look attractive, people should consider the expense that comes with it, and how commuting will affect them in the long run. Nevertheless, both neighborhoods have their specific advantages and disadvantages. When choosing between an urban or suburban neighborhood, it is important for people to research the community, the expense, and convenience...show more content... Another key point is commuting. People who live in the urban community have better access to public transportation. Citizens can easily get around by walking, taking a bus, and riding the train at a lower cost. In contrast, owning a home in suburb can be costly for many people. Not only do people have to keep up with their mortgages, but they sometimes have to pay a yard maintenance fee and their Home Owners Association (HOA) dues for the up–keeping of the neighborhood which can be very costly. Besides the home cost, people who live in suburban neighborhoods do have the convenience of traveling in the comfort of their own vehicle, and they do not deal with the concerns of public transportation. However, they still have to deal with the cost for long commuting and the wear and tear of the vehicle. Living in the inner–city and suburban neighborhood can be challenging and beneficial for some individuals, especially for career opportunity. Many people who live in the urban communities have a better advantage in finding a job of their choice. Most corporations are located in the inner–city which makes it easier for people to find a job. Despite the job opportunities in the inner–city, many of these corporations do not provide parking for their employee which makes it difficult for many individuals. On the other hand, employment in the suburb is very limited and many of the professional jobs are Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Tale Of Two Cities Compare And Contrast Essay In looking at the novel, A Tale of Two Cities, written by Charles Dickens, and the Masterpiece Theater film version, produced in 1989, three similarities between the two can be found to include the characterization of Dr. Manette, the trial of Charles Darnay in London, and the history of Madame Defarge. The novel and film, A Tale of Two Cities , follow the characters in London and Paris in the midst of the time during and leading up to the French Revolution. Throughout the story, there are many aspects that are present in both the novel and the film, those of which vary in type, from characters to events to setting. All the human breath in the place rolled at him, like a sea, or wind, or a fire. Eager faces strained round pillars and corners, to get a sight of him; spectators in back rows stood up, not to miss a hair of him; people on the floor of the court laid their hands on the shoulders of the people before them, to help themselves, at anybody's cost, to a view of him–stood a–tiptoe, got upon ledges, stood upon next to nothing, to see every inch of him" (75). Likewise, this scene in the movie features a rowdy crowd that pays much attention to Charles Darnay, however, in the movie, also in the book, Sydney Carton's attention is fixed on the ceiling. Thus, Darnay's trial in London in the book and the movie are Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. In the Age of Revolutions, the world had mixed views about the massive revolutions spreading across countries. As the revolutions became more savage than civil, it became a popular topic regarding morals and revolutions itself. One of the biggest controversy was the French Revolution. The arguments between England, who mostly opposed the brutal onslaught, and France, who approved of the sacrifices to achieve freedom. This essay will examine the different outlooks of the two countries and the reasons for their own bias while showing how Charles Dickens', an English writer, captures the essence of both sides in his novel A Tale of Two Cities. • 11. In every country, the land is divided into sections of towns and cities. These towns and cities are homes to people who have looked upon their preferences to decide where to locate their homes. Individuals take into account the advantages and disadvantages of both locations as well as the opportunities presented. Hence, there are several similarities and differences between big cities and small towns. To begin, a significant difference between big cities and small towns is the cost of living. The cost of living in a big city is much higher than that of a small town due to the increase of population and demand. In the city, landlords tend to increase rate prices of living spaces depending on the demand for the space and the number of applicants. Also, the price of food and clothing from stores is much more costly because it is located in a busy city. The owners of these businesses do this because of the high demand, but limited supply of both space and items. However, towns have a lower population level than cities and the cost of living spaces or items is not as expensive as the latter. The cost of living in towns is...show more content... Though cities and towns are places that are being modernized and turned into more concrete than grass there are still places reserved for outdoor activities like parks and lakes. In both of these locations, people can visit their local park and have picnics or play sports. These outdoor areas are places that people can visit to spend time with friends and family. In smalls towns and big cities people can even visit stands that are placed outside for people to buy a variety of items like food or souvenirs. Towns and cities have these outdoor activity areas so that events can be held like fairs and annual festivals. • 12. Tale Of Two Cities Comparative Essay Change is something that must come and will always come, whether it be for better or for worse. This is especially the case in the changing of power in our world, to spark this change, people will fight until they die. Everybody can justify their plight with speeches of justice and necessity, but whether or not the ends justify the means is something that every person must decide for themselves. The theme of revolution is explored in both A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens and Battleship Potemkin by Sergei Eisenstein, but their portrayals of it differ greatly. Throughout his Novel, Dickens clearly shows that he sympathizes with the peasants, but that he has very mixed feelings towards the way that the revolutionaries get what they want....show more content... Both author's perspectives on revolution are displayed in the ending of their respective works and they could not be more different. A Tale of Two Cities ends with the hero of the story: Carton about to be executed at the guillotine. The story does not end with a huge celebration, but it ends melancholic and ambivalent. It is then stated, "Crush humanity out of shape once more, under similar hammers, and it will twist itself into the same tortured forms" (Dickens 659). He is saying that regardless of the intent of the revolutionaries, since what they did was through similar means of the aristocrats, everything will still end up the same way. He continues by saying, "Sow the same seed of rapacious license and oppression over again, and it will surely yield the same fruit according to its kind" (Dickens 659). Since the revolutionaries used violence to get what they wanted, they are no better than the aristocrats themselves and once they get into power, they will become the same as the aristocrats. They will continue the same cycle, but they will now be the ones in power. The ending of A Tale of Two Cities emphasizes that the revolutionaries' violent means were contradictory to their original Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. A Tale Of Two Cities: A Comparison Out of all the compelling characters in this story, Lucie Manette and Jarvis Lorry are the two that are most interesting to me. In the beginning of the story, they were strangers. However, as the plot develops, we find out they have actually met before. When Lucie became an orphan, Lorry took her to England to be raised. This action shows that Lorry cared for Lucie and wanted what was best for her. They meet again when he takes Lucie to her father. Throughout the story, they grow a strong bond. In chapter twelve, we learn that Lorry cares for Lucie like family. When Mr. Stryver is telling Lorry his plan to marry Lucie, he tells Mr. Stryver his opinion. Lorry states," I will hear no disrespectful word of that young lady from any lips; and Get more content on HelpWriting.net

They are Summer–Autumn yield and Winter–Spring yield ("What's the difference", n.d.). Between these seasons of crop there is a distance. They do not do anything during this period. In contrast, most people move to the city in order to find a job because it is easier there. • 15. Difference Between Big City And Small Town In every country, the land is divided into sections of towns and cities. Crime Data Comparison Paper Crime Data Comparison Paper Randy Morgan Axia College Jennifer Duncan February 4th, 2013 The two metropolitan areas I have decided to do my research paper on are Cincinnati, Ohio and Dallas, Texas. I choose Cincinnati because it is one of the bigger cities where I live. I choose Dallas because there seems to be a big difference in crime rates compared to Cincinnati. In this paper I will be comparing the burglary rate between these two cities. I will identify the number of burglaries reported to the police in each area and also explain which area had more reported...show more content... There are also other factors that could explain the big differences between these cities. The ethnic and racial makeup of the people living there and their educational levels could be a big difference. To really explain the increase or decline in both these cities is difficult because the two areas that I choose are so very different in population is really the biggest difference. In conclusion, in comparing both these big cities Cincinnati is showing an increase in the number of burglaries and almost every other crime as for Dallas, the crime rate there is down 6.4 percent. With the population in Dallas being 1,197,816 and Cincinnati's population being 296,943 people would think that Dallas would be a city full of crime but Cincinnati is far worse. According to NeighborhoodScout . com, on a scale of 100 to 1(100 is the safest) Cincinnati rates just a two. This scale shows that Cincinnati is just safer then two percent of the cities in the United States of America. There are many factors that could explain why Cincinnati has one of the fasting growing crime rates in the nation. One could be the economy where there is nine percent unemployment in the city alone. Another factor could be the racial and ethnic makeup of the city. Looking at the Dallas, Texas crime rates, it rates a six in the crime index (NeighborhoodScout.com). This means that Dallas, Texas is safer than six percent of the Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 18. A Tale Of Two Cities Comparison Analysis The possibility of redemption is a major tenet of many religions: Hindus and Buddhists share the notion of karma, while Christians believe that belief in Jesus Christ and His message will grant passage into Heaven. Under such tenets, even the worst sinners are able to ascend to the highest glory; for example, St. Paul was once a persecutor of Christians until he converted due to having been struck blind by God. Such stories certainly play a role in the enduring popularity of such religions, as it is comforting to know that even the worst sinners can become good. The contrast between the sinner and a good–natured person elevates this, since the sinner must go through more personal reformation than a good–natured person would ever have to in order to reach salvation. It also emphasizes the power of the force that is behind the personal reformation, as such a force must be very great in order to turn someone into the opposite of his or her former self. Throughout literature, opposites are often used to demonstrate the effect of a certain force. In A Tale of Two Cities , Charles Dickens employs the motif of opposites by emphasizing character differences and changes in order to illustrate that love is a force for redemption. Dickens compares love's redemptive powers with the destructive power of vengeance by contrasting Madame Defarge with Lucie Manette and Miss Pross. While Madame Defarge is a force for destruction, Lucie is a force for salvation. Madame Defarge is consumed Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. City and suburb life With an increase in urbanization, more people are moving to the industrial cities in pursuit of alternative lifestyle and jobs. Life in city and suburbs can be compared and contrasted with various aspects in mind since they share quite some details in as much as they are vastly different. Firstly, the transportation is more accessible in the city as compared to the suburb where there are no apt transport networks as compared to the city, among the transport mode in the city are subways, busses, trams and ferries. These provide easy, fast and cheap means of getting around in the city in as much as the streets are crowded. This is in contrast to the suburbs since owning a car is mandatory since such public transport systems are not available. When the costs of insurance, fuel expenses and time of commuting are added up then transport in suburbs is seen to be expensive when compared to that in the city. The easy transport in the city does not come all rosy since the city is also flooded with traffic jams due to congestion and this can render transport slow. This is contrast with suburb life where there is no traffic and hence with no congestion traveling in suburbs is more peaceful (Boulter, 2005). When it comes to activities in the city life offers more opportunities for activities for instance the many movie theatres, concerts, professional sporting events, zoos, shopping malls, restaurants, museums and many more providing opportunities to take Get more content on HelpWriting.net
