Values
Our values define who we are. They are the fundamental beliefs that guide our actions and behavior. They influence the way we interact with others
and our thought process. Every day, each one of us makes choices and decisions that directly affect the way we experience each other and the way
others experience us. Values, in essence are what motivates us. The values that define me are: caring, compassion, helping others, team work,
education, dedication, and results oriented. We all act and make decisions without realizing that these processes are in fact based on our core values.
Values are as Burkhardt &...show more content...
Things rapidly change in the medical field and it is a major responsibility in nursing is making informed, evidence based decisions, these decisions
can sometimes be a matter of life and death, therefore as nurse I feel it is imperative to continue education and make sure your skill set is optimal and
appropriate for the decisions you are making.
Because values play such an important role in our lives, it is important for individuals to understand their own personal values and when searching for a
job, seek out employers with the same or similar values. "When seeking employment, nurses should identify congruencies or incongruencies between
their personal values and those of the institution, because accepting employment implies committing to the value system of the organization"
(Burkhardt & Nathaniel, 2014, p. 99). Having the same or similar values will give us confidence that we are all utilizing the same principles when it
comes to our common goals, interaction with our co–workers, clients and decision making within the organization. "When personal values are at odds
with those of the patient, colleagues, or the institution, internal or interpersonal conflict may result" (Burkhardt & Nathaniel, 2014, p. 98). These
conflicts can have a negative impact on the patient, the

My Values And Beliefs About Early Childhood
My values and beliefs about early childhood are, that kids should be allowed to play and have fun while they are learning. Young kids need someone
who will be patient, funny, and above all, they need someone who will be loving towards them. "Teaching young children is hard work" (Bredekamp
3). Children who fall under the category of early childhood, should have hands on activities, colorful visuals, and time where they get to choose what
they want to do.
My thoughts on intentional teaching, and DAP, are pretty simple. I think that they go hand in hand with each other because, intentional teachers have a
purpose for the decisions that they make on a daily basis and they are able to explain those purposes to others. And in order for them to

Personal values, belief and attitudes
As human beings, we all have our own values, beliefs and attitudes that we have developed throughout the course of our lives. Our family, friends,
community and the experiences we have had all contribute to our sense of who we are and how we view the world. As community services
workers, we are often working with people who are vulnerable and/or who may live a lifestyle that mainstream society views as being different or
unacceptable. If, as community services workers, we are to provide a service that meets the needs of our target groups and helps them to feel
empowered, we need to be aware of our own personal values, beliefs and attitudes and be prepared to adopt the professional values of our...show more

It is important that you develop an awareness of what you value, as these values will be important in informing your relationships with clients,

Did you learn something about yourself that you didn't expect? What is important here is your ability to be able to identify the values that are
important to you.
It is important to be conscious of our values. This knowledge helps us to:
ask ourselves why we are doing what we are doing
identify the consequences of our actions for ourselves and others (including clients and co–workers)

Beliefs, Morals and Values Application
According to Webster's II New College Dictionary a belief is the mental act, condition, or habit of placing trust or confidence in a person or thing
and mental acceptance of or conviction in the truth or actuality of something (1995). A belief consists of anything believed by conviction or faith; a
belief can be something accepted as true (Weber, 2002). Beliefs are convictions; trust or confidence placed in a person or thing (Encarta, 1999). A
belief is something you believe in deeply. When questioned as to why you hold those beliefs you might not be able to give a detailed reason as to
why, only that for some unknown reason you feel strongly regarding those...show more content...
To treat another person as if he or she were yourself: to do the good things to him you would like done to you; and to not do the bad things you
would not like to done to you. Therefore you would not steal from him, and you would try to help him if he needed help. Morals are standards of right
and wrong as they relate to behavior (Encarta, 1999).
To answer the question of man's inherent evilness or goodness is to assume that one believes that man is one or the other. In the article, "Good andEvil,
The Nature of the Soul," author Laura Aversano describes man's relationship withgood and evil this way:
The soul stemming from stillness, creates a unified relationship between good and evil at its essential core and understanding from the way that God
intended. As the collective and personal soul unfolds into various levels, good and evil takes on its own form within the various levels of
understanding. Good and evil become personified from ego levels and spiritual levels and their forms become integrated into spiritual and human
realities simply so that we can learn from them, become greater human and spiritual beings, and allow them to come back into balance to the highest
degree possible under God without any interference from our human and spiritual attachments and attainments. Thus, the concepts of good and evil are
there for our understanding, as is the soul. Under spiritual laws, they will

My Core Values
As I have grown as an adult and moved further towards success in my life, I have always maintained a guided structure to achieve goals and tasks
that challenge me. I call these my "Core Values". This is a strict regimen or a belief system that I have instilled into my everyday practice to complete
any task that presents itself. Although not perfected, I have found this method to be quite successful. My work ethic, responsibility, and my drive to
further my education and knowledge have never failed me. Life can seem tough and demanding on a very consistent basis, but I believe that I have
cultivated a plan to accommodate and withstand any trial

To build responsibility as a child I volunteered to take care of my family dog. Even though she was the family's pet I took it upon myself to make sure
she was properly fed, watered, and walked. My mother was very proud of my new development as an adolescent. She became very encouraging and
would come up with other special chores around the house that I could be relied upon to handle. To some children this would seem like a
punishment, but both of my parents were so supportive and persuasive that I looked forward to having the gained accountability. My father
instituted honesty and respect as monuments for responsibility. I of course struggled at times with taking care of my dog, and handling some of
my other chores. But my father always wanted me to not only be honest with my parents, but also with myself. He stated that a lie would not
benefit anybody and it was disrespectful to tell a lie. He would tell me that a liar was the same as a cheater, and nobody liked either. If I knew how
to respect others and be honest, than my responsibility would only increase. I asked why I would want added responsibility and my father told me
two things that changed my perspective completely. First, it was that responsible people always tended to be more successful. Since I had always
dreamed of growing up to be rich and famous, I guess I could accept the added responsibility. The second thing he told me was that one day I could

Personal Values Beliefs And Values
Personal values, beliefs, and principles are necessary for individuals to know about themselves. However, when asked the question, "what are your
personal values, beliefs, and principles" the first responses are often a laundry list of characteristics with the assumption that the three words are
synonymous. From my experience, when asked this question the list grew longer and I started to wonder what the differences existed between each
of these terms. Recognizing these differences is a major component of discovering how I make decisions when facing ethical dilemmas involving
directives that may be morally unsound. Hence, I began the search of how the terms relate, their meaning and what my answer is to this question.
Since I invested time to find the differences in principles, beliefs and values my long list became more defined. So, the essay will encompass the
definitions of the terms, explain two elements for each category, how they relate to one another and how the knowledge influences tough decisions.
Values
What are values and what makes these different from principles and beliefs? Various references agree that values are the motivations and behaviors
used to determine priorities of what one sees as important in life and work (MindTools.com, 2017; Atkins, 2017;Value, n.d.). The definition applied my
list of characteristics illustrated how I desire to represent myself and what I value most. First, I value commitment to my principles, which my faith as a

My Culture, Values, And Beliefs
Values and beliefs are what every living human being possesses, whether we are conscious about it or not. They impact how we live through day by
day, how we make decisions and interact with society. We possess these values and beliefs commonly from our parents, friends and others who are
close to us as we continue to grow and learn. Some of the values and beliefs that I find are more important to me are family, respect, ethnicity and
openness. Family is what I value the most, they are always there for me through good and bad times. They are my support source and I can always
count on them for when I am troubled. I unquestionably inherited this value from my parents as well as my culture (Filipino), for it is known to be
very family orientated and to the very extent, loyal. My parents are my first teachers, teaching me what is acceptable and what is not, how the world
works and most importantly, respect. Respect is another value that I have also inherited from my parents and culture. In the Filipino culture, respect is
very important, especially towards those who are older than you. The use of honorifics is extremely crucial when addressing people who are not of
the same age otherwise it comes off as rude and disrespectful, similarly to other Asian countries like Japan. This aspect definitely has impacted the

It is a big part of my identity and also what others can identify me as. As I read more about my ethnicity and begin to take serious interest, I have

stereotype and definitely is a generalisation of what kind of person I

My Values And Beliefs Of Nursing
Philosophy of Nursing Everyone's values and beliefs about the profession of nursing are all different. The four concepts of nursing are interrelated
and all mean something different to every person, too. Throughout this paper, I will be reflecting on my values and beliefs about nursing through the
four concepts while comparing them to a nursing theorist with views that are most similar to my own. My Values and Beliefs of Nursing I choose
nursing as my future career because I enjoy working with others, helping others feel better, and educating people. These three topics are all involved
in what nursing is. I believe that nursing is focused on the holistic care of individuals and their families in order to achieve and maintain an optimal
level of health, a great quality of life, and comfort. This is done through the promoting healthy living, providing a safe environment, preventing illness,
and the caring for the individual and the family. My Views of the Nursing Concepts After evaluating what the nursing concepts mean to me, I found
that they are most similar to Florence Nightingale's theory. For the first concept of nursing, I think it is the holistic care of individuals to provide an
optimal level of health and function, comfort, safety, and education. With holistic care, nurses focus on the mind, body, and spirit. Not only does
nursing deal with caring for the individual, but also education is a large part of nursing. To me, the second concept of nursing,

My Personal And Professional Values Essay
In reviewing your personal and professional values, what surprised you, and what helped you affirm your beliefs? Reviewing and examining my
personal and professional values, I have to admit, there is nothing that surprised me. However, there is a lot that affirmed many of my beliefs. The
values and beliefs to which I personally ascribe are undeniably impacted by my upbringing and social environment that I live in. They are the
essence of who I am. My values influence every decision I make, how I conduct myself, and basically how I choose to live my life. I am fifty–two
years old and in this stage of my life, I know that values play an important role in my life and I do recognize them and I know how to articulate
them. Consequently, because I know my own values and beliefs, I knew what I want my employer to look like. Luckily, I was able to find a job
that my values are in alignment with the values of my employer. Both, my employer and I encompass the value of caring. Which according to
Burkhardt & Nathaniel (2014) is integral to the profession of nursing alongside with the value of curing. As a healthcare provider, how do you need
to consider your values, beliefs, cultural beliefs, and ethical core as you solve ethical dilemmas? I do know where I stand in my beliefs, and
sometimes they are in opposite of the people I take care of. As a nurse, I deal with ethical dilemmas almost every day in my practice. Some of them
are simple, some are more challenging, and some quite

What Are My Values And Beliefs In Counseling
As a counselor, I need to be aware of my values and beliefs. This is important so I can prevent my values from influencing my clients, their views,
and my own views of my clients. Essentially, values are what is important to us in life, and they influence how we act in both our personal and
professional lives. Part of my job as a counselor will be to assist my clients in finding answers that are congruent with their values, not the values that I
hold. To identify my values and beliefs, I participated in many self–reflective exercises. These exercises not only helped me identify my values and
beliefs, but they also enlightened me on how I view people and the world as a whole. I have learned that I encompass several values that are beneficial

He then introduced humans to suffering by banishing Adam and Eve for disobeying Him from the paradise of His garden and into a world filled
with disease, danger, and death. Because of this, all of humankind was to suffer. Was this meant as a curse upon us then? It may have been, but I
view it as a gift. Suffering has the potential to teach and change us. What we learn may be about ourselves or others, right from wrong, or what we
value most in our lives. Suffering the loss of a loved one can help us realize how much we truly cared for that person and what we may have learned
from him/her that we did not know until that moment of loss. Whether or not someone grows through suffering depends on the sufferer and the cause
of suffering. During such trials, we must take the opportunity to question it. Why is this happening? Why me? What did I do to deserve this?
Answering these questions and more lets us reflect on ourselves and our choices leading up to the suffering. This allows us to see things that we
could have avoided or done differently and also to evaluate ourselves. Was this my fault? Could I have done something differently? Is there something
about myself I need to change? If so, should I? Will change prevent this from happening again? These questions may elicit self–pity, but the key is to
stay positive and do our best to view suffering as a learning

Coachs Values And Beliefs
Values and beliefs are a product of an individual's own unique history, experiences and education, the essence of everything they do and the reason they
place importance on some things more than others. A coach's values and beliefs have a major impact on their coaching behaviour as they motivate
them, help them make decisions, show us who they are and better understand them. In the sporting environment, they keep them motivated whilst they
deliver and perform their sessions and help to develop their knowledge and understanding of people they meet on a daily basis. Values allow the coach
to decide how to deliver each session and how to choose the contents and equipment for individuals they coach. As they can affect coaching

Nursing Values Essay
As a nurse, it is expected that we uphold certain values at all times, which are fundamental within practice. These values are important as they create a
minimum standard of practice that all nurses are to be working in accordance with. These values also provide a framework for assessment of behavior,
whilst providing influential guidance for a nurses, goals and objectives within their role (Orford, 2012).
The relationship between values and professional practice effects everybody (Bentley, Aubery, and Bentley, 2004). When considering the relationship
between the two, it raises further questions regarding the professional, professions and values (Bentley, Aubery, and Bentley, 2004).
As a nurse, for me to uphold my values whilst in practice would mean I am expected to avoid bias and stereotyping (Wilkinson, ARNP, and Judith M.
Wilkinson, Ph.D., A.R.N.P., 2011). Being bias usually involves making judgement about an individual in a particular way, whilst stereotyping is the
way you expect a person to be based on how you believe the people surrounding as individual is (Wilkinson, ARNP,...show more content...

My Personal Values Essay
My personal values Values are those things that are important, meaningful and valued by an individual, a group of people, or an organization.
Whether we are aware of them or not, every individual has his or her core set of values, which consist of many different kinds of values. Each
individual's value system is different from one another because individual's values are built up through one's life experience, environment, and family
background. Values are important to us because they reflect our personal moral standards, shape our behavior, and guide us through long life journeys.

However, we should pay attention to our manners, utilize our communication skills; and on the bottom line, we need to avoid intentionally hurting
people. When coming across people who have total different opinions from mine, I always act respectfully. For example, at school, we have to do many
team projects; most often, team members may come from total different cultural background, and thus always have different opinions about the same
thing. Being respectful to other students, I am well–mannered, using appropriate language, opening to criticisms, and conducting myself professionally.
If everyone knows how to respect to others and act respectfully to each other, we will easily to get along with each other and thus there be more
happiness and less conflict in our society, so we will make the world a better place. Second, I highly value integrity. Integrity is defined as "a concept of
consistency of actions, values, methods, measures, principles, expectations, and outcomes. In ethics, integrity is regarded as the honesty and
truthfulness or accuracy of one's actions." It generally means not intentionally harming others, not stealing from, not cheating, or being fair to, others. I
value integrity because it manifests a person's inner strength, honor, kindness, and geniuses of one's soul. According to Kantian moral perspective
whether an action is morally good or not depends primarily in the intentions of the agent performing the

My Core Values And Beliefs
My core values and beliefs directly support my academic support and service to others. I believe in a positive attitude, that when you have a
positive outlook on life you'll see the good in people and the beauty in life. Seeing the good in the world helps you be kind to others. When you're
kind to others they're kind to you, making it easier to help other people through their problems. I believe Cindy Lou said it best "The Cheermeister is

Essay Social Development of Values and Beliefs
Social Development of Values and Beliefs Values can be described as the general idea of proper and desirable behavior that formal and informal
social organizations embrace. As a daughter in a military family, I have been exposed to the values and beliefs of many formal and informal social
organizations. Since my family moved to a new town every ten months to three years, I belonged to many churches, schools, and peer groups. As is
expected, these many social organizations had an effect on the shaping of my values and beliefs. A major value that stems from my family is the
value of achievement. In my family it is not acceptable to be lazy on a regular basis. It is, however, desirable to push yourself to achieve new things.

Work was a value for everyone in this peer group, and under their influence it became a value for me also. In this peer group, everyone was paying their
own way through college, which made work a necessary and desirable value for each person. I saw how independent and self–confident the people in
the peer group were because of their belief in work. Naturally, I adopted this value also (Kluckholm). Efficiency and practicality is a value that
followed from work. Without efficiency and practicality, my workplace is a chaotic mess where no one can function. Since this is not a good way
to run a business, efficiency and practicality became a value embrace by everyone involved. When I first started this job, efficiency was an
unknown term. People would take four times longer than needed to complete a task. This was causing very little work to be produced, and in turn,
very little money was coming into the office. These actions are what spurred the belief in efficiency in me. To keep my job, my employers needed to
bring in more money. Therefore, efficiency became the accepted way of doing tasks since it kept the employers from losing their business. Material
comfort is a value that comes from many different social organizations. Growing up in an upper–middle class family tends to give you the belief in
material comfort. Every child wants to live a little better off than his or her parents. I also saw that my parents were able

When working with teachers of young children, especially those in an early childhood education center you hear it said that young children learn
through play. An article published inPsychology Today states that there is more to play than swings, jungle gyms and games of tag on the recess
playground. Imaginative play – make–believe and pretend – is important for young children's healthy development. "Over the last 75 years, a number
of theorists and researchers have identified the values of such imaginative play as a vital component to the normal development of a child,"
Psychology Today reports. "Systematic research has increasingly demonstrated a series of clear benefits of children's engagement in pretend games
from the ages of about 2ВЅ through ages 6 or 7. Actual studies have demonstrated cognitive benefits such as increases in language usage including
subjunctives, future tenses, and adjectives. The important concept of 'theory of mind,' an awareness that one's thoughts may differ from those of other
persons and that there are a variety of perspectives of which each of us is capable, is closely related to imaginative play. Pretend play allows the
expression of both positive and negative feelings, and the modulation of affect, the ability to integrate emotion with cognition." Research has also
shown that imaginative play helps children develop self–regulation skills, social skills such as problem solving and communication,

The Importance Of Personal Values
Personal values and morals have an enormous impact on someone's life because they influence their worldview and decision making. It is important
for one to know their own values and morals in life to gain a better understanding of themselves and the world they live in ("Lecture 1", 2014). This
foundation of belief creates a worldview, or a lens to view the world with (Waddell, 2014). Not only is it important to know one's personal beliefs, but
also where those beliefs came from, why they believe them, and how they affect them. This can often be determined from one's life experiences.
How do you personally define values and morals? The terms "values" and "morals" can often be hard to define because they have similar meanings.
People frequently use them as the same word even though they are different. Values are the rules people live by when determining what is right or
wrong, good or bad, or what they should or shouldn't do ("Values, Morals, and Ethics", 2002). On the other hand, morals have a greater importance, or
meaning, to individual's beliefs because they are what motivate people to make or not make certain decisions. More emphasis is placed on what is
good or bad than with values ("Values, Morals, and Ethics", 2002). Generally, morals are broadly accepted across individuals in certain cultures,
religions, geographical areas, etc. ("Values, Morals, and Ethics", 2002).
What events, experiences, and teachings have influenced the development of your values and morals?

Personal Values, Beliefs, And Attitudes
Introduction As human beings, we all have our own values, beliefs, and attitudes. These things develop over the course of our lifetime and at any
point can change based on an experience that we may have. Our family, friends, community and the experiences we have had all contribute to our
sense of who we are and how we view the world.
Values, Beliefs, and a Little About Me
Over the course of my life my values have changed based on circumstance. Currently if I had to list out my top five values in descending order they
would be: religion, family, education, country, and culture. I value religion first and foremost because of my beliefs system that has been instilled
in me since I was a child. " If you place God first in your life, then everything else will work itself out", is something my Grandfather has always
told me. Family is something that doesn 't necessarily come first, but is a very high value to me. I identify as being a very caring father and
husband, the protector, and head of my household. My family has always been supportive of my decisions. They have influenced me to always give
my best at everything and to persevere when I fail. Education is the new value that has began to take a precedence in my life. Education is the bridge
to success that I am striving to succeed at. Without education I cannot properly attend to my family 's needs. The time demand of education also puts it
very high on my values list because it warrants the majority of my attention.

Values Essay

  • 1. Values Essay Values Pamela Dyer Southern New Hampshire University Policy, Law, ethics NUR480 Professor S. Butler February 26, 2015 Values Our values define who we are. They are the fundamental beliefs that guide our actions and behavior. They influence the way we interact with others and our thought process. Every day, each one of us makes choices and decisions that directly affect the way we experience each other and the way others experience us. Values, in essence are what motivates us. The values that define me are: caring, compassion, helping others, team work, education, dedication, and results oriented. We all act and make decisions without realizing that these processes are in fact based on our core values. Values are as Burkhardt &...show more content... Things rapidly change in the medical field and it is a major responsibility in nursing is making informed, evidence based decisions, these decisions can sometimes be a matter of life and death, therefore as nurse I feel it is imperative to continue education and make sure your skill set is optimal and appropriate for the decisions you are making. Because values play such an important role in our lives, it is important for individuals to understand their own personal values and when searching for a job, seek out employers with the same or similar values. "When seeking employment, nurses should identify congruencies or incongruencies between their personal values and those of the institution, because accepting employment implies committing to the value system of the organization" (Burkhardt & Nathaniel, 2014, p. 99). Having the same or similar values will give us confidence that we are all utilizing the same principles when it comes to our common goals, interaction with our co–workers, clients and decision making within the organization. "When personal values are at odds with those of the patient, colleagues, or the institution, internal or interpersonal conflict may result" (Burkhardt & Nathaniel, 2014, p. 98). These conflicts can have a negative impact on the patient, the

Young kids need someone who will be patient, funny, and above all, they need someone who will be loving towards them. "Teaching young children is hard work" (Bredekamp 3). Children who fall under the category of early childhood, should have hands on activities, colorful visuals, and time where they get to choose what they want to do. My thoughts on intentional teaching, and DAP, are pretty simple. I think that they go hand in hand with each other because, intentional teachers have a purpose for the decisions that they make on a daily basis and they are able to explain those purposes to others. Personal values, belief and attitudes Personal values, belief and attitudes As human beings, we all have our own values, beliefs and attitudes that we have developed throughout the course of our lives. Our family, friends, community and the experiences we have had all contribute to our sense of who we are and how we view the world. As community services workers, we are often working with people who are vulnerable and/or who may live a lifestyle that mainstream society views as being different or unacceptable. If, as community services workers, we are to provide a service that meets the needs of our target groups and helps them to feel empowered, we need to be aware of our own personal values, beliefs and attitudes and be prepared to adopt the professional values of our...show more content... Beliefs, Morals and Values Application Essay #Beliefs, Morals and Values, # Beliefs, Morals and Values Application According to Webster's II New College Dictionary a belief is the mental act, condition, or habit of placing trust or confidence in a person or thing and mental acceptance of or conviction in the truth or actuality of something (1995). A belief consists of anything believed by conviction or faith; a belief can be something accepted as true (Weber, 2002). Beliefs are convictions; trust or confidence placed in a person or thing (Encarta, 1999). A belief is something you believe in deeply. To treat another person as if he or she were yourself: to do the good things to him you would like done to you; and to not do the bad things you would not like to done to you. Therefore you would not steal from him, and you would try to help him if he needed help. Morals are standards of right and wrong as they relate to behavior (Encarta, 1999). To answer the question of man's inherent evilness or goodness is to assume that one believes that man is one or the other. In the article, "Good andEvil, The Nature of the Soul," author Laura Aversano describes man's relationship withgood and evil this way: The soul stemming from stillness, creates a unified relationship between good and evil at its essential core and understanding from the way that God intended. As the collective and personal soul unfolds into various levels, good and evil takes on its own form within the various levels of understanding. Good and evil become personified from ego levels and spiritual levels and their forms become integrated into spiritual and human realities simply so that we can learn from them, become greater human and spiritual beings, and allow them to come back into balance to the highest degree possible under God without any interference from our human and spiritual attachments and attainments. Thus, the concepts of good and evil are there for our understanding, as is the soul. Under spiritual laws, they will Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Essay about My Core Values Tamneicha Mcdavid Prof.Beck ENC 1101 July 30, 2009 Example Essay My Core Values As I have grown as an adult and moved further towards success in my life, I have always maintained a guided structure to achieve goals and tasks that challenge me. I call these my "Core Values". This is a strict regimen or a belief system that I have instilled into my everyday practice to complete any task that presents itself. Although not perfected, I have found this method to be quite successful. My work ethic, responsibility, and my drive to further my education and knowledge have never failed me. Life can seem tough and demanding on a very consistent basis, but I believe that I have cultivated a plan to accommodate and withstand any trial The first...show more content... To build responsibility as a child I volunteered to take care of my family dog. Even though she was the family's pet I took it upon myself to make sure she was properly fed, watered, and walked. My mother was very proud of my new development as an adolescent. She became very encouraging and would come up with other special chores around the house that I could be relied upon to handle. To some children this would seem like a punishment, but both of my parents were so supportive and persuasive that I looked forward to having the gained accountability. My father instituted honesty and respect as monuments for responsibility. I of course struggled at times with taking care of my dog, and handling some of my other chores. But my father always wanted me to not only be honest with my parents, but also with myself. He stated that a lie would not benefit anybody and it was disrespectful to tell a lie. He would tell me that a liar was the same as a cheater, and nobody liked either. If I knew how to respect others and be honest, than my responsibility would only increase. I asked why I would want added responsibility and my father told me two things that changed my perspective completely. First, it was that responsible people always tended to be more successful. Since I had always dreamed of growing up to be rich and famous, I guess I could accept the added responsibility. The second thing he told me was that one day I could possibly

However, when asked the question, "what are your personal values, beliefs, and principles" the first responses are often a laundry list of characteristics with the assumption that the three words are synonymous. From my experience, when asked this question the list grew longer and I started to wonder what the differences existed between each of these terms. Recognizing these differences is a major component of discovering how I make decisions when facing ethical dilemmas involving directives that may be morally unsound. Hence, I began the search of how the terms relate, their meaning and what my answer is to this question. Since I invested time to find the differences in principles, beliefs and values my long list became more defined. So, the essay will encompass the definitions of the terms, explain two elements for each category, how they relate to one another and how the knowledge influences tough decisions. Values What are values and what makes these different from principles and beliefs? Various references agree that values are the motivations and behaviors used to determine priorities of what one sees as important in life and work (MindTools.com, 2017; Atkins, 2017;Value, n.d.). The definition applied my list of characteristics illustrated how I desire to represent myself and what I value most. • 10. My Culture, Values, And Beliefs Values and beliefs are what every living human being possesses, whether we are conscious about it or not. They impact how we live through day by day, how we make decisions and interact with society. We possess these values and beliefs commonly from our parents, friends and others who are close to us as we continue to grow and learn. Some of the values and beliefs that I find are more important to me are family, respect, ethnicity and openness. Family is what I value the most, they are always there for me through good and bad times. They are my support source and I can always count on them for when I am troubled. I unquestionably inherited this value from my parents as well as my culture (Filipino), for it is known to be very family orientated and to the very extent, loyal. My parents are my first teachers, teaching me what is acceptable and what is not, how the world works and most importantly, respect. Respect is another value that I have also inherited from my parents and culture. In the Filipino culture, respect is very important, especially towards those who are older than you. The use of honorifics is extremely crucial when addressing people who are not of the same age otherwise it comes off as rude and disrespectful, similarly to other Asian countries like Japan. • 11. My Values And Beliefs Of Nursing Philosophy of Nursing Everyone's values and beliefs about the profession of nursing are all different. The four concepts of nursing are interrelated and all mean something different to every person, too. Throughout this paper, I will be reflecting on my values and beliefs about nursing through the four concepts while comparing them to a nursing theorist with views that are most similar to my own. My Values and Beliefs of Nursing I choose nursing as my future career because I enjoy working with others, helping others feel better, and educating people. These three topics are all involved in what nursing is. I believe that nursing is focused on the holistic care of individuals and their families in order to achieve and maintain an optimal level of health, a great quality of life, and comfort. This is done through the promoting healthy living, providing a safe environment, preventing illness, and the caring for the individual and the family. My Views of the Nursing Concepts After evaluating what the nursing concepts mean to me, I found that they are most similar to Florence Nightingale's theory. For the first concept of nursing, I think it is the holistic care of individuals to provide an optimal level of health and function, comfort, safety, and education. With holistic care, nurses focus on the mind, body, and spirit. Not only does nursing deal with caring for the individual, but also education is a large part of nursing. To me, the second concept of nursing, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. My Personal And Professional Values Essay In reviewing your personal and professional values, what surprised you, and what helped you affirm your beliefs? Reviewing and examining my personal and professional values, I have to admit, there is nothing that surprised me. However, there is a lot that affirmed many of my beliefs. The values and beliefs to which I personally ascribe are undeniably impacted by my upbringing and social environment that I live in. They are the essence of who I am. My values influence every decision I make, how I conduct myself, and basically how I choose to live my life. I am fifty–two years old and in this stage of my life, I know that values play an important role in my life and I do recognize them and I know how to articulate them. Consequently, because I know my own values and beliefs, I knew what I want my employer to look like. Luckily, I was able to find a job that my values are in alignment with the values of my employer. Both, my employer and I encompass the value of caring. Which according to Burkhardt & Nathaniel (2014) is integral to the profession of nursing alongside with the value of curing. As a healthcare provider, how do you need to consider your values, beliefs, cultural beliefs, and ethical core as you solve ethical dilemmas? I do know where I stand in my beliefs, and sometimes they are in opposite of the people I take care of. As a nurse, I deal with ethical dilemmas almost every day in my practice. • 13. What Are My Values And Beliefs In Counseling As a counselor, I need to be aware of my values and beliefs. This is important so I can prevent my values from influencing my clients, their views, and my own views of my clients. Essentially, values are what is important to us in life, and they influence how we act in both our personal and professional lives. Part of my job as a counselor will be to assist my clients in finding answers that are congruent with their values, not the values that I hold. To identify my values and beliefs, I participated in many self–reflective exercises. These exercises not only helped me identify my values and beliefs, but they also enlightened me on how I view people and the world as a whole. He then introduced humans to suffering by banishing Adam and Eve for disobeying Him from the paradise of His garden and into a world filled with disease, danger, and death. Because of this, all of humankind was to suffer. Was this meant as a curse upon us then? It may have been, but I view it as a gift. Suffering has the potential to teach and change us. What we learn may be about ourselves or others, right from wrong, or what we value most in our lives. Suffering the loss of a loved one can help us realize how much we truly cared for that person and what we may have learned from him/her that we did not know until that moment of loss. Whether or not someone grows through suffering depends on the sufferer and the cause of suffering. During such trials, we must take the opportunity to question it. Why is this happening? Why me? What did I do to deserve this? Answering these questions and more lets us reflect on ourselves and our choices leading up to the suffering. This allows us to see things that we could have avoided or done differently and also to evaluate ourselves. Was this my fault? Could I have done something differently? Is there something about myself I need to change? If so, should I? Will change prevent this from happening again? These questions may elicit self–pity, but the key is to stay positive and do our best to view suffering as a learning Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Coachs Values And Beliefs Values and beliefs are a product of an individual's own unique history, experiences and education, the essence of everything they do and the reason they place importance on some things more than others. A coach's values and beliefs have a major impact on their coaching behaviour as they motivate them, help them make decisions, show us who they are and better understand them. In the sporting environment, they keep them motivated whilst they deliver and perform their sessions and help to develop their knowledge and understanding of people they meet on a daily basis. Values allow the coach to decide how to deliver each session and how to choose the contents and equipment for individuals they coach. • 15. Nursing Values Essay As a nurse, it is expected that we uphold certain values at all times, which are fundamental within practice. These values are important as they create a minimum standard of practice that all nurses are to be working in accordance with. These values also provide a framework for assessment of behavior, whilst providing influential guidance for a nurses, goals and objectives within their role (Orford, 2012). The relationship between values and professional practice effects everybody (Bentley, Aubery, and Bentley, 2004). When considering the relationship between the two, it raises further questions regarding the professional, professions and values (Bentley, Aubery, and Bentley, 2004). As a nurse, for me to uphold my values whilst in practice would mean I am expected to avoid bias and stereotyping (Wilkinson, ARNP, and Judith M. Wilkinson, Ph.D., A.R.N.P., 2011). Being bias usually involves making judgement about an individual in a particular way, whilst stereotyping is the way you expect a person to be based on how you believe the people surrounding as individual is (Wilkinson, ARNP,...show more content... • 16. My Personal Values Essay My personal values Values are those things that are important, meaningful and valued by an individual, a group of people, or an organization. Whether we are aware of them or not, every individual has his or her core set of values, which consist of many different kinds of values. Each individual's value system is different from one another because individual's values are built up through one's life experience, environment, and family background. Values are important to us because they reflect our personal moral standards, shape our behavior, and guide us through long life journeys. Since we live in a highly connected society, each person's value system does not only affect one's own life, but also affects many other people and the ...show more content... However, we should pay attention to our manners, utilize our communication skills; and on the bottom line, we need to avoid intentionally hurting people. When coming across people who have total different opinions from mine, I always act respectfully. For example, at school, we have to do many team projects; most often, team members may come from total different cultural background, and thus always have different opinions about the same thing. Being respectful to other students, I am well–mannered, using appropriate language, opening to criticisms, and conducting myself professionally. If everyone knows how to respect to others and act respectfully to each other, we will easily to get along with each other and thus there be more happiness and less conflict in our society, so we will make the world a better place. Second, I highly value integrity. Integrity is defined as "a concept of consistency of actions, values, methods, measures, principles, expectations, and outcomes. In ethics, integrity is regarded as the honesty and truthfulness or accuracy of one's actions." It generally means not intentionally harming others, not stealing from, not cheating, or being fair to, others. I value integrity because it manifests a person's inner strength, honor, kindness, and geniuses of one's soul. According to Kantian moral perspective whether an action is morally good or not depends primarily in the intentions of the agent performing the Get more content on HelpWriting.net

I believe in a positive attitude, that when you have a positive outlook on life you'll see the good in people and the beauty in life. Seeing the good in the world helps you be kind to others. When you're kind to others they're kind to you, making it easier to help other people through their problems. • 18. Essay Social Development of Values and Beliefs Social Development of Values and Beliefs Values can be described as the general idea of proper and desirable behavior that formal and informal social organizations embrace. As a daughter in a military family, I have been exposed to the values and beliefs of many formal and informal social organizations. Since my family moved to a new town every ten months to three years, I belonged to many churches, schools, and peer groups. As is expected, these many social organizations had an effect on the shaping of my values and beliefs. A major value that stems from my family is the value of achievement. In my family it is not acceptable to be lazy on a regular basis. It is, however, desirable to push yourself to achieve new things. These...show more content... Work was a value for everyone in this peer group, and under their influence it became a value for me also. In this peer group, everyone was paying their own way through college, which made work a necessary and desirable value for each person. I saw how independent and self–confident the people in the peer group were because of their belief in work. Naturally, I adopted this value also (Kluckholm). Efficiency and practicality is a value that followed from work. Without efficiency and practicality, my workplace is a chaotic mess where no one can function. Since this is not a good way to run a business, efficiency and practicality became a value embrace by everyone involved. When I first started this job, efficiency was an unknown term. People would take four times longer than needed to complete a task. This was causing very little work to be produced, and in turn, very little money was coming into the office. These actions are what spurred the belief in efficiency in me. To keep my job, my employers needed to bring in more money. Therefore, efficiency became the accepted way of doing tasks since it kept the employers from losing their business. Material comfort is a value that comes from many different social organizations. Growing up in an upper–middle class family tends to give you the belief in material comfort. Every child wants to live a little better off than his or her parents. I have tons of teaching friends and each of us all believes different things and value different things within the classroom. My personal values as an educator are what defines who I am as a teacher. Where I place value in the classroom defines my student's success and growth academically, socially and emotionally. When it comes to my own personal values and beliefs around my role as a teaching and my students learning from me I value most how my students learn. When working with teachers of young children, especially those in an early childhood education center you hear it said that young children learn through play. An article published inPsychology Today states that there is more to play than swings, jungle gyms and games of tag on the recess playground. Imaginative play – make–believe and pretend – is important for young children's healthy development. "Over the last 75 years, a number of theorists and researchers have identified the values of such imaginative play as a vital component to the normal development of a child," Psychology Today reports. "Systematic research has increasingly demonstrated a series of clear benefits of children's engagement in pretend games from the ages of about 2ВЅ through ages 6 or 7. Actual studies have demonstrated cognitive benefits such as increases in language usage including subjunctives, future tenses, and adjectives. The important concept of 'theory of mind,' an awareness that one's thoughts may differ from those of other persons and that there are a variety of perspectives of which each of us is capable, is closely related to imaginative play. Pretend play allows the expression of both positive and negative feelings, and the modulation of affect, the ability to integrate emotion with cognition." Research has also shown that imaginative play helps children develop self–regulation skills, social skills such as problem solving and communication, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 20. The Importance Of Personal Values Personal values and morals have an enormous impact on someone's life because they influence their worldview and decision making. It is important for one to know their own values and morals in life to gain a better understanding of themselves and the world they live in ("Lecture 1", 2014). This foundation of belief creates a worldview, or a lens to view the world with (Waddell, 2014). Not only is it important to know one's personal beliefs, but also where those beliefs came from, why they believe them, and how they affect them. This can often be determined from one's life experiences. How do you personally define values and morals? The terms "values" and "morals" can often be hard to define because they have similar meanings. People frequently use them as the same word even though they are different. Values are the rules people live by when determining what is right or wrong, good or bad, or what they should or shouldn't do ("Values, Morals, and Ethics", 2002). On the other hand, morals have a greater importance, or meaning, to individual's beliefs because they are what motivate people to make or not make certain decisions. More emphasis is placed on what is good or bad than with values ("Values, Morals, and Ethics", 2002). Generally, morals are broadly accepted across individuals in certain cultures, religions, geographical areas, etc. ("Values, Morals, and Ethics", 2002). What events, experiences, and teachings have influenced the development of your values and morals? Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 21. Personal Values, Beliefs, And Attitudes Introduction As human beings, we all have our own values, beliefs, and attitudes. These things develop over the course of our lifetime and at any point can change based on an experience that we may have. Our family, friends, community and the experiences we have had all contribute to our sense of who we are and how we view the world. Values, Beliefs, and a Little About Me Over the course of my life my values have changed based on circumstance. Currently if I had to list out my top five values in descending order they would be: religion, family, education, country, and culture. I value religion first and foremost because of my beliefs system that has been instilled in me since I was a child. " If you place God first in your life, then everything else will work itself out", is something my Grandfather has always told me. Family is something that doesn 't necessarily come first, but is a very high value to me. I identify as being a very caring father and husband, the protector, and head of my household. My family has always been supportive of my decisions. They have influenced me to always give my best at everything and to persevere when I fail. Education is the new value that has began to take a precedence in my life. Education is the bridge to success that I am striving to succeed at. Without education I cannot properly attend to my family 's needs. The time demand of education also puts it very high on my values list because it warrants the majority of my attention.
