A design promotion platform devoted to economic
development, lille—design has been involved in
promoting the design industry at the metropolitan,
regional and Euro-regional level since 2011,
supported by Lille Métropole and the Nord-Pas de
Calais Region.

5. LILLE—DESIGN HELPS COMPANIES, DESIGNERS
AND LOCAL AUTHORITIES INTEGRATE DESIGN
INTO THEIR PROCESSES:
— By promoting innovative projects within companies in the
city of Lille and the region, making them more competitive.
— By committing to work alongside the parties involved in
town and country planning across the metropolis of Lille in
examining how boroughs can be renovated.
— By collaborating with all parties involved in innovation at
the regional level: competitiveness hubs, centres of
excellence and equipment such as the CETI, clusters and
incubators, etc.

— DESIGNERS (IN-HOUSE, INDEPENDENT, AGENCIES,
RECENT GRADUATES)
Objective: to promote collaborations between companies
and local authorities, and develop opportunities for
designers.

7. OCTAVE : MOBILE AND MODULAR DEVICE FOR BICYCLE PARKING
FIRST STEP : a call for projects named Ur’Bike.
Provide a solution for urban dwellers to park and
protect their cycles in town.

A SPECIAL EXHIBITION FOR COMPANIES
DESIGN IS UNDERSTANDABLE,
Small exhibition with educational character
The exhibition is intended for the companies of the region and quite different institutions
wishing a raising awareness to the design. It addresses all the employees of the structure in
which it will be implanted. With educational character, it is a small mobile, itinerant exhibition,
with the question " What is the design? ».
A selection of 10 objects, products and services, all designed and made in region, tent to explain
the diversity of the fields of the design.

— VOCATIONAL TRAINING INSTITUTIONS
Objective: to accompany institutions in training the
talents of tomorrow.
Aim: gain international renown for the territory, give
young talents the opportunity to find work and create
favourable conditions for them to set up business as
entrepreneurs. Promote strengthened territorial
attachments.

15. CASE STUDY
DESIGN FOR CHANGE / LILLE, AN INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION
Since 2012, Design for change/Lille has teamed up with Lille Métropole
and lille—design to develop an international design competition within
the metropolitan area.
Around twenty of the best international design schools have been
invited to come up with innovative ideas and new practices for the Lille
metropolitan area. The projects suggested by the designers put the
citizen firmly at the heart of the city.
The first fruitions of the projects generated by the competition will be
presented in an experimental form within the framework of the latest
lille3000 “Renaissance” event, from September to January 2016.
In June 2015, winners of the 3rd staging of the competition will be
selected.

Objective: stimulate initiatives to incorporate design into
the planning of public spaces.

reinforcing the quality of public spaces and improving

MADE IN NORTH, A NEW RANGE OF NEW PRODUCTS
Made in North is a range of products designed and made in the region Nord-Pas
de Calais. It’s a collaboration between designers, craftsmen, companies, under
the artistic direction of Lille-design, this range of new products is the reflection
of the know-how and the creativity of a territory. It is also a selection of iconic
products produced in our region.
Impulsed by Lille-design, in partnership with the future House of the tourism of
Lille and various museums in region, this initiative aims at renewing the ranges
of products sold in the cultural places and the tourists while favoring and by
valuing a regional production.

SAINT-SAUVEUR, LILLE
Quality of public spaces
In Lille, the old freight station Saint-Sauveur has experienced some changes. It became a
cultural place. All the surrounding environment, composed with railways and halls, is the
subject of a public consultation about its renovation. Cultural and creative industries are
one of the fields that the city wants to develop in this project.

25. THE BUSINESS CLUB
Aimed at encouraging the emergence of major unifying design-based
projects, the lille—design BUSINESS CLUB brings together almost forty
companies from the region. It is directed by François Dutilleul, President of
the Directoire Rabot Dutilleul.
The Club holds a meeting each quarter, and these are a forum for privileged
exchanges and in-depth reflection, ensuring that the goals and
expectations of the founding members are met.
The company members of the Club are naturally associated with the
actions undertaken by lille—design.
Today, approximately 45 companies joined the Club.
