WFRV is the CBS-affiliated television station for the Green Bay – Appleton,
Wisconsin region. Owned by the Nextstar Station Group, it’s station is located in
Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Broadcast Barrier
• With an outdated SD camera network, WFRV had no online live streaming
presence or ability to distribute digital content online or through social
media outlets.
• Being a station in a highly competitive market, WFRV sought to set
themselves apart with expanded and localized content.
• WFRV needed to increase revenue while expanding it’s capabilities, creating
a more valuable opportunity for it’s potential sponsorships.
Project Solution
• WFRV installed a five WeatherVision™ Pro camera network. All cameras
were installed in key locations overlooking the Bay of Green Bay.
• The WeatherVision software solution brought camera management capabilities
and new features such as one-click to social media capabilities, online live
streaming, time lapses, clips, and archiving features.
• Weather Metrics partnered with WFRV to secure a new sponsorship.
Immediate Rewards
• WFRV’s new camera network resulted in a new sponsorship with Pella and
no out-of-pocket costs to the station.
• With the increased capabilities of the WeatherVision software and the
improved HD quality of the camera network there has been a noticeable
increase in traffic on-line and on air.
• WFRV’s entire DMA is now covered with their new camera network creating
interesting, localized content highlighting community activities such as 4th
of July, waterfront ferry activity, and even a timlapse of an old grainery that
was moved.
