This document is an abstract from the 3rd International Scientific Conference on Applied Sciences and Engineering held in Bangkok, Thailand in July 2015. It summarizes a paper presented on the applications of nanotechnology in marine drug research. Over 70% of the Earth's surface is covered by oceans, which have long been a source of medicinal compounds, though modern science only discovered their potential in the 1950s. Many cytotoxic compounds have been isolated from marine organisms, especially fauna, for defense. Some like bryostatins are in late-stage clinical trials. However, climate change threatens these habitats. The power of nanotechnology has yet to be fully utilized in marine drug research to help harvest valuable chemicals from the sea for the benefit of science
