The Advantages Of Debate
Nowadays, English is important for everyone, English had been taught in every school, starting from elementary school until the University level.
English has become the global language and the primary method of communication for the people of the world in fact it is now common for English
to be referred to as International or even Global English. English learning is very important for the students, because if they can mastery English it
means they have been use English in orally and in written form. Speaking is one of the basic skill in English. According to Clark (1977:233) speaking
is fundamental act. Other than that, Widdowson (1984:58) states that speaking is the active or productive skill. In speaking, the students should master

In a debate, failure to anticipate what the opposition's points will be is a sign of narrow mindedness. It allows one to see a different point of view, we
also can learn from each other, develop our knowledge and opinions, and make better informed argument. Debate provides opportunities to practice all
four language skills especially speaking. Debate also supports development of critical thinking skill of the students. Debate can promotes learning.
Debate is one of the powerful techniques that can develop students speaking ability that can affect students' achievement.
Maryadi (2008:16, in Yuliani 2009) states that debate can motivate students thinking, moreover if they must defend their stance or opinion which is in
contradiction with conviction their self. This strategy can involve all students to be active, not only in debate performer.
Debating is a teaching strategy that provides a framework for students to explore and develop a range of views over an issue. Debating encourages

Debates On Global Warming
I. Global Warming: Fact or Fiction
A. Background of the debate on the perceived global warming phenomenon 1. Temperature increase 2. Disparity and the reasons why
B. Arguments for the perceived fact of human influence on global warming 1. The greenhouse effect 2. Global disaster C. Arguments that human
influence on global warming is fictitious 1. Amount of CO2 2. Natural reasons for global warming
One of the most longstanding and most passionately debated topics in the scientific community today is based on conceptions of global warming. The
one aspect that the scientific community seems to agree on is the fact that since the mid to late 19th century, just prior to the Industrial Age, theearth
has increased its annual median temperature. Some scientific theories, however, state that this effect has largely to do with humanity's propensity for
burning fossil fuels, and speculate that this tendency will wreak devastating consequences on the earth due to this fact. On the other side of the debate
lies those who state that these perceived effects of global warming is a hoax, as is the effect of humanity on the earth's average median temperature,
Proponents that claim global warming is a fact that is largely in response to mankind's penchant for burning fossil fuels since the advent of the 20th
century back up this assertion by alluding to the greenhouse effect. According to this greenhouse theory, the fossil fuels that are released into the earth's

Example of a Debate Speech
Thank you Madam Speaker. A very good morning I would like to wish to the honourable adjudicators, precise timekeepers, fellow members of the
government, members of the opposition and members of the floor. We are gathered here today to debate on a very important motion that is THBT
physically challenged people should not be seperated in schools. And, we, the government strongly back this motion.
To address this motion, please allow me to start off by specifying my role and the role of my fellow members of the government. I, as the Prime
Minister, have the main task in hand in which I have to state the motion, which I have already done earlier. Next, I will highlight some of the keywords
and define the motion of today's debate. Following...show more content...
everyone has their own aspiration and ambitions that serve to define themselves in their lives. self motivation comes from within the person. being
able to compete with more physically able students personally makes a physically challenged student to get rid of his/her prejudice of him
/herself(lack of physical abilities makes him/her unable to compete mentally with normal students), thus motivating and spurring the individual to
move forward. put it at a way that you were able to beat one of your classmates that is more "complete" than you, how would that make you feel?
of course, it makes you feel better of yourself. proving that nothing is impossible for you to do. for example, muhammad rosli and ahmad of sekolah
kebangsaan seksyen 27 in shah alam were born as conjoined twins and now succesfully seperated following an operation in saudi arabia in 2002.
eventhough they were not like normal students, they still manage to get good results in their upsr which was 4a's and 1b in 2011 and are still educated
in a normal school. this relates back to being part of the society by having the attention of being able to do something you're more capable of. just
imagine, ladies and gentlemen if they did not share the same school with normal people at their young ages, they probally would not get the self
motivation needed for their future adulthoods being in the society itself. a great statistics to prove this is that, the national resources centre on learning

Essay on Nature vs Nurture Debate
Nature vs Nurture Debate
Nature versus Nurture is the issue of the degree to which environment and heredity influence behavior and development. In this issue nature can be
defined as, behaviors due to heredity. Which means behaviors are based on the genetic makeup of an individual and is an influence of the individuals'
growth and development throughout life. On the other hand nurture are causes of behaviors that are environmental. Which means the influence is
from, parents, siblings, family, friends and all other experiences to which the individual is exposed to.
Throughout my childhood, I didn't grow up free of environmental influences nor did I develop without being affected by my inherited genetic makeup.
I think...show more content...
In reading stories about identical twins my point of view is easily understood. Various types of psychologist have analyzed the study of identical twins.
It shows that individuals with the same genetic make–up can be totally different, when it comes to personality. Nurture promotes the twins to grow up
as separate individuals. Its a lot better if a twin has his or her own personality rather than the same exact personality of the other half. I think this great
debate weighs heavier on the nurture side. As a child my parents, and sibling overshadowed my genetic make–up. No matter how much I thought my
physical traits made me behave. It did not affect me more than the things that I had seen and been exposed to. The more things that I had seen around
and experienced made me the person that I am today. If my genetic make–up was totally different, to a certain extent, I am sure that I?d behave the
same way that I do presently. There are exceptions to that. For instance if I were six foot five and one hundred and ninety pounds, I?d most likely
be in the NBA and be really rich. I think if I was really rich and in the NBA I wouldn?t have the same worries that I have today. Even if before I were
in the NBA I would have lots of attention and have a lot more confidence. So to an extent I would change a little if my genetic make–up were different.
In a sense, genetic make–up is just a competitor to the environmental factors

The Debate Over Presidential Debates
What topics are labeled important enough to be talked about during presidential debates? Topics such as terrorism and national security; the economy;
jobs and employment; and the Affordable Care Act and Healthcare all managed to be the center of attention during all debates. What topics were
almost entirely ignored? Topics such as gun policy; social issues like LGBT rights and abortion; and the environment andclimate change were put to
the side to instead talk about Hillary Clinton's email scandal or the sexual assault charges brought up against Donald Trump. While terrorism and
national security; the economy; jobs and employment; and the Affordable Care Act and Healthcare are all very important topics, but one topic that was
ignored and should have been at the forefront of the debate was climate change.
Issues like renewable energy, hydraulic fracking, anthropogenic greenhouse gases, and the Paris Agreement should have been hot topics during the
three presidential debates. So why were they not? Both the Democrats and Republicans seemed to be more concerned with trying to make the
opposing candidate look as bad as possible. However, climate change is not something that should be labeled as a Democratic or Republican problem,
instead all political groups should be worried about this topic. Climate change can affect food production, water availability, wildlife and human health.
Also, weather conditions such as storms, tornadoes, and earthquakes can damage roads, railroads,

Debate on Taxes Essay
Controversy will always follow humans where ever we go. Humans have argued over many issues for centuries, often times with no conclusion or
"correct" answer ever in sight. One common issue that has been debated since the early 1900s is whether or not the more wealthy individuals in a
society should be taxed more heavily than their poorer counterparts. Many have argued over the pros and cons of the taxation of richer people, but
when one looks at it objectively, the pros far outweigh the cons. Not only do the pros outweigh the cons, but a question one must ask oneself is
whether or not prosperous people really need that extra money? Richer people should be taxed higher because it is better for the economy, social
classes will...show more content...
The encouragement of economic disparity because of these tax cuts is bad for America. The US should be aiming for more social and economic
equality for everybody. Tax cuts can slow down the economy by putting more money into the wealthy peoples' hands and giving less to the people
who need it. Another reason that the wealthy should pay more taxes is because they owe it to society to do so. Every person wouldn't be where they
are today without the people who helped raise them and the society they were raised in. In "The Great Gatsby", Nick Carraway is disgusted with Tom
and Daisy, "Tom and Daisy–they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness, or whatever it
was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made" (Fitzgerald 179). Nick is repelled by how Tom and Daisy, with all
of their money, would do nothing to help the society or other people. Successful people are largely successful due to the society and conditions that
they were raised in. Without the better conditions that they were luckily born into, it is logical to question just how successful someone in the top one
or ten percent could have been. In a recent commencement speech last summer at Princeton, author Michael Lewis stated "Recognize that if you have
had success, you also have had luck–and with luck comes obligation. You owe a debt, and not just to your Gods. You owe a debt to the unlucky". In a

The Debate With-In Suicide
As you walk upon the dark, stormy day making your way to the funeral you ask yourself, "How could they have done this? What lead them to the
point of where their own life was the price they had to make to achieve happiness?" Moments before, you were woken up by a phone call at midnight,
from your mother's friend, getting the unexpected news that your friend has recently shot themselves in the head. As the service is minutes away from
ending, you start to wondering, "How could I miss the signs?" In school, they smiled at everyone, they were the highest ranked student in the school
and was the leaning shoulder that everyone could rely on. Now the only thing that you have left from them is a small note thanking you for being there
for them, but it wasn't enough. Your mind would be left to wonder the reason why they went for a permanent solution to solve their problems while
they rest in eternal peace. According to CBS News, one person commits a suicide about every 40 seconds around the world. With more than half a
million people committing this act, you are left to wonder why this is not a topic of controversy or a matter discussed worldwide. The topic of debate
with–in suicide is that if someone were to commit this act, if rationalized or irrationalized, it can determine if they did it for honor or took the coward's
way out.

School Uniform Debate Essay
"School Uniforms: Yes, or No"
The concept of having school uniform is a topic that has been debated fir any years. Some students find uniforms necessary, others just hate the colors. I
think that the students who think uniforms are unnecessary are wrong. Uniforms are an excellent idea and can help school students be more
disciplined, have an equal environment, and enjoy greater academics. School uniforms are a great way to maintain a level of social equality. There are
more positive effects of wearing school uniforms than negative. School uniform makes student's lives easier because it eliminates the job of spending
hours on picking out clothes for school.First, having school uniform maintains discipline in school. Wearing...show more content...
If students are required to wear school uniforms, then they will automatically dress appropriately. Some students hide weapons in their clothes, so if
there is uniform, no one will be able to hide any weapon. Secondly, school uniforms create an equal environment. Uniforms eliminate competition. No
student will be considered less important than the other. Staying out of uniform is not a problem for the rich students. If there is no uniform, children,
who are rich, will wear brand name clothes and children who are poor will wear regular, simple clothing. The poor children will feel left out because
they are different. When children wear school uniform, every child is equal. School uniforms are less expensive compared to regular "play clothing",
it lasts longer, and they can be reused. School uniforms are professional and help kids take school more seriously. When School uniforms help
maintain or rise a school's academic standards. Uniforms help change a person's attitude toward success. Students go to school to learn, not to show off.
Without school uniform, kids will spend more time on picking out clothes rather than doing homework. If children don't have choice to show off, make
fun, or feel left out, then they will concentrate more on their studies. It is proven that schools that have uniforms have higher benchmark scores, SAT
scores, and students which decide to go to college. In conclusion, school uniforms do not affect who

The Great Homework Debate
Before we move forward in determining what is effected by way of homework we need to examine the history that this debate is going through. The
great homework debate has gone thru great changes since its inception. During earlier times children in the lower grades, grades one through four,
received very little if any homework through the year, however the older grades received in upwards of three hours per night. As years went on we've
seen this debate go from a positive factor for academics to a negative factor. There been many academic and child health organizations that have led
various different movements on this debate. Just since the 1950s we have seen this debate take on numerous schools of thought from one extreme to

My Reflection Of Speech : My Importance Of Debate
This year I took debate and throughout this whole year I learned in many ways how taking debate is beneficial to me, and how it helped me
throughout my school year and my later life in general. Such as how to speak clearly, extend my voice and how to pronounce and enunciate
clearly so that my voice is vocalized clearly and in a way that is in a way that is very understandable to everyone. Which can be seen on numerous
occasions from ballots at the beginning of the year such as " AST # 1 " which I learned a lot from as it was my first debate and at this tournament I took
congressional debate and what I learned from this is that I have to use my voice because if I didn't I wouldn't be able to speak which is what
happened to me and at my...show more content...
One thing that greatly affected me was my self–confidence, that had taken the better of me before I had taken debate, and once I took the class my
confidence in anything was much improved, for example just like our debate quote " I spoke my mind " more frequently after I took debate. Which
has liberated my voice to what I want to say, no matter what anybody believes about me, and leading to myself not getting held back at all Debate has
taught me how to have more in–depth conversations with people and a better way of communicating in a way that is clear and complex. I struggled
in a lot of areas in debate and even currently I still struggle in a few areas. For example, these past 3 school quarters in debate I have not done so
well and I fell short many times just trying to look for what my calling was in debate. But in the end, I found out what the purpose of a debate was
which is, " an engagement of an argument by discussing opposing points " and for me the two sides of my debate where the part which learned and
the part that struggled. Such as, the part of me that struggled remembering points and the part that forgot to practice, which held me back from
succeeding in speech and debate. But the part of me learned, and it learned from the struggles I had, such as how I spoke to how I acted, and
changed them to a more advanced and proper way, that where some areas I struggled in and how I learned from them. I can improve upon areas such as

who vandalized a McDonald's in 1999 and was then running for president, proved to be no match for Le Big Mac. The first round of the presidential
election was held on April 22, and BovГ© finished an embarrassing tenth, garnering barely 1 percent of the total vote. By then, McDonald's had eleven
hundred restaurants in France, three hundred more than it had had when BovГ© gave new meaning to the term "drive–through." The company was
pulling in over a million people per day in France, and annual turnover was growing at twice the rate it was in the United States. Arresting as those
numbers were, there was an even more astonishing data point: By 2007, France had become the second–most profitable market in the world for
McDonald's, surpassed only by the land that gave the world fast food. Against McDonald's, BovГ© had lost in a landslide." The French, in my
opinion, had a right to protect their culture from US "Coca–colonization", a term that refers to globalization or cultural

When cohesion and synergy are achieved team performance and group effectiveness are increased. Barrick et al (1998: 382) argues that this is because
cohesion and synergy improve communication, conflict resolution and distribution of workload. Tyler et al (2005: 225) explain the positive effects that
synergy has on group effectiveness by stating that 'highly cohesive groups have a strong structure because their members are highly committed to the
group and cooperate to preserve it'. Tyler et al (2005: 225) go on to state that cohesion improves group effectiveness as higher levels of commitment by
team members is favourable to achieving higher levels of performance and that cohesion allows team members to concentrate on performance rather
than group conflict. Barrick et al (1998: 380) furthers the argument that conscientiousness is a trait that leads to synergy and group effectiveness by
suggesting that conscientiousness enables each team member to contribute more to the team performance therefore encouraging better results. The fact
that group personality traits such as cooperation, agreeableness, conscientiousness, achievement motivation and helpfulness lead to cohesion and

The Global Climate Change Debate Essay
The Global Climate Change Debate – How do I know what to believe?
Introduction:
Climate change has been a topic of debate for decades. Scientists support climate change is happening with hard scientific evidence whereas the people
who oppose climate change have evidence which is mainly opinion–based. This report will cover what climate change is, why climate change is
happening, the science that supports climate change, the different views and opinions on climate change, the effects of climate change around the
world and particularly the effects in New Zealand, my opinion on climate change and my conclusion on the issue.
The science of Climate Change:
(1)The process of climate change
The most basic definition for climate change is a change in the average weather conditions and this has always been a part of the Earth's natural
process however recently climate change has been used to refer to the change caused by human activities, this is known as Human–Induced Climate
Change. Human–Induced Climate Change began after the Industrial Revolution but it didn't have a large effect until after the 1950s in which human
activities greatly accelerated. Will Steffen in an interview referred to this as "The Great Acceleration" (2)
(2)The Great Acceleration shows how human activities and environmental trends have increased of the past 60 years.

Debate
Imagine being backed into a corner and your opponent is closing ground. Right now you're sweating trying to think of how you can escape. You have
no weapons, no hands, you have nothing but your mouth. Would you be successful or just another victim, the most likely scenario is the ladder.
Today's generation is quick to use violence to resolve issues instead of using their words, and i am inclined to believe that it has to do with the fact
that they do not know how to have a civilized debate. This is where debate comes into play, debate is when you argue against an opponent trying to
prove that your right and your opponent is wrong. I have been in debate almost my entire highschool term and i can honestly say that debate has
gotten me out of many sticky situations for the simple fact i knew how to talk to someone and get my point across. I remember when i was in a
debate and the topic was, is "Urban Transit" a necessity in rundown neighborhoods. I was on the affirmative side, the side which is for the plan and
my opponent asked would I be willing to ride the bus with convicts and criminals. Now everyone's initial answer should...show more content...
Topicality debate is when the debate goes from facts to definitions this is by far the hardest form of debate because every word comes into play and
you have to know the right definition I can think of many times where I completely beat my opponent on the definitions of there, they're or their. You
would be surprised how many people don't know the difference. Now you're probably thinking what does that have to do with arguing but the truth is
it has everything to do with it. If you don't know the right definitions how can you even argue someone. It's like trying to tell someone that the sky is

While Scibabe is more on the offensive side and pointing out Modern Alternative Health's flaws, Modern Alternative Health stays more on the
defensive side in order to get her point across. Just one thing that both of these blogs post can agree on is that children are suffering one way or

Throughout the blog post, SciBabe points out how MAH goes back and forth through her statistics only to make them sound more appealing to her

attack little kids in playgrounds and in school. To balance out the hate, SciBabe attacks MAH's husband who goes by the name "The Happy
Factory," which SciBabe claims that he makes fun of mentally handicapped people and points out how they are a Christian family. One thing that
SciBabe could have done better in order to have a more persuasive argument would be to add some of her own facts or statistics, where scientific
evidence can help back up her claims. She seemed more focused on persuading pro–vaxxers by doing the same thing that MAH did, by attacking each

Vaccination Debate
Debate Reflection Personally, before doing any research and participating in this debate I was pro vaccines. Mainly due to my mom who is a
nurse; she made sure my siblings and I received every vaccination needed for school and those not required for school. Her reason for why she
made us get them when questioned by my brothers and I was that "you never know what anyone has and it will help protect you and keep you
strong". This was one of the viewpoints brought up in the debate alongside many other viewpoints that helped to solidify my view of vaccines. The
first perspective that was debated from was the health provider. It was from this perspective that I had to defend the use and importance of
vaccinations. The major points that I and...show more content...

perspective vastly altered my perception of the importance of vaccinations/immunizations. The only pro idea that had any value to me was how much
money people and in the end society saved in medical expenses by vaccinating. The students that represented pharmaceutical companies against
vaccinations indicated a variety of great justifications. A few that I found insightful were: 1) over time it has become less profitable for pharma
companies to produce and sell vaccines, 2) they make more money from selling drugs compared to vaccines, and lastly 3) the negative impact of
adverse events from vaccines on companies image a great which can hurt them when trying to sell the other things their company sells. After listening

Mind Body Debate Essay
The mind body debate has been occurring for all of human history. Ideas of a soul, or an existence beyond the physical can be found in ancient
peoples, and can be found, at least in some capacity, in very religion. However, it came to academia after Descartes proposed that the mind and body
are separate identies with the mind holding more power over a person than the brain. He states, "I knew I was a substance whose whole essence or
nature is simply to think, and which does not require any place, or depend on any material thing, in order to exist. Accordingly this 'I' [that is, the
mind . . .] is entirely distinct from the body, and [. . .] would not fail to be whatever it is, even if the body did not exist," and thus Dualism entered the

These particles and others behave like both particles and waves (Atmanspacher). They have simpler properties, but the difference in their nature is
what causes confusion. In the same way, the brain and the mind have an extremely similar nature, but are often considered two different entities due
to different of appearance. For example, two people may have similar brain functions, they can both be feeling the same emotion, like anger. When
looking at the physical brain we can see that testosterone increases, cortisol decreases, and the left hemisphere of the brain is more active (Neus).
But, we cannot see how these changes will react with the person's mind. One person may lash out and become violent and then is clam after a short
while. The other may be seemingly clam on the outside, but filled with a rage that will last for weeks. What caused the differences? It was not a
difference in physical characteristics; therefore, it must have been a non–physical component of the brain. While the neurology of the brain may give
us an understanding of the way it works, to have a deeper understanding of the human being as a whole it is important to look at all aspects of the
brain, including the metaphysical. Physical characteristics do not show the desires, dreams, or causations of a person's behavior, only the behavior in

the "racial divides" in our country and the civic group black lives matter. What struck me in a bad way was when they answered a question about if
all lives matter or do black lives matter. Well they probably divided the whole country when they admitted to the nation that black lives matter. Which I

If anything the debates have solidified my choices. They have been narrowed to two people Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz. There are several reasons
I like the two, I will give you a couple of these reasons. Firstly, I like these two candidates because they are the younger of the whole group. For me
they appeal to the younger generation, and we need to have a leader that can unite the younger generation as well as the older generations and the
more conservative. Secondly, I like these two candidates because they aren't afraid to tell things like it is. They don't believe in the political
correctness, if it needs to be said and is important to say they aren't afraid to say it. Finally, I like these great people because I believe that if we ever

The Advantages of Debate Skills

  • 1. The Advantages Of Debate Nowadays, English is important for everyone, English had been taught in every school, starting from elementary school until the University level. English has become the global language and the primary method of communication for the people of the world in fact it is now common for English to be referred to as International or even Global English. English learning is very important for the students, because if they can mastery English it means they have been use English in orally and in written form. Speaking is one of the basic skill in English. According to Clark (1977:233) speaking is fundamental act. Other than that, Widdowson (1984:58) states that speaking is the active or productive skill. In speaking, the students should master the elements...show more content... In a debate, failure to anticipate what the opposition's points will be is a sign of narrow mindedness. It allows one to see a different point of view, we also can learn from each other, develop our knowledge and opinions, and make better informed argument. Debate provides opportunities to practice all four language skills especially speaking. Debate also supports development of critical thinking skill of the students. Debate can promotes learning. Debate is one of the powerful techniques that can develop students speaking ability that can affect students' achievement. Maryadi (2008:16, in Yuliani 2009) states that debate can motivate students thinking, moreover if they must defend their stance or opinion which is in contradiction with conviction their self. This strategy can involve all students to be active, not only in debate performer. Debating is a teaching strategy that provides a framework for students to explore and develop a range of views over an issue. • 2. Debates On Global Warming I. Global Warming: Fact or Fiction A. Background of the debate on the perceived global warming phenomenon 1. Temperature increase 2. Disparity and the reasons why B. Arguments for the perceived fact of human influence on global warming 1. The greenhouse effect 2. Global disaster C. Arguments that human influence on global warming is fictitious 1. Amount of CO2 2. Natural reasons for global warming One of the most longstanding and most passionately debated topics in the scientific community today is based on conceptions of global warming. The one aspect that the scientific community seems to agree on is the fact that since the mid to late 19th century, just prior to the Industrial Age, theearth has increased its annual median temperature. Some scientific theories, however, state that this effect has largely to do with humanity's propensity for burning fossil fuels, and speculate that this tendency will wreak devastating consequences on the earth due to this fact. On the other side of the debate lies those who state that these perceived effects of global warming is a hoax, as is the effect of humanity on the earth's average median temperature, Proponents that claim global warming is a fact that is largely in response to mankind's penchant for burning fossil fuels since the advent of the 20th century back up this assertion by alluding to the greenhouse effect. According to this greenhouse theory, the fossil fuels that are released into the earth's Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Example of a Debate Speech Thank you Madam Speaker. A very good morning I would like to wish to the honourable adjudicators, precise timekeepers, fellow members of the government, members of the opposition and members of the floor. We are gathered here today to debate on a very important motion that is THBT physically challenged people should not be seperated in schools. And, we, the government strongly back this motion. To address this motion, please allow me to start off by specifying my role and the role of my fellow members of the government. I, as the Prime Minister, have the main task in hand in which I have to state the motion, which I have already done earlier. Next, I will highlight some of the keywords and define the motion of today's debate. Following...show more content... everyone has their own aspiration and ambitions that serve to define themselves in their lives. self motivation comes from within the person. being able to compete with more physically able students personally makes a physically challenged student to get rid of his/her prejudice of him /herself(lack of physical abilities makes him/her unable to compete mentally with normal students), thus motivating and spurring the individual to move forward. put it at a way that you were able to beat one of your classmates that is more "complete" than you, how would that make you feel? of course, it makes you feel better of yourself. proving that nothing is impossible for you to do. for example, muhammad rosli and ahmad of sekolah kebangsaan seksyen 27 in shah alam were born as conjoined twins and now succesfully seperated following an operation in saudi arabia in 2002. eventhough they were not like normal students, they still manage to get good results in their upsr which was 4a's and 1b in 2011 and are still educated in a normal school. this relates back to being part of the society by having the attention of being able to do something you're more capable of. just imagine, ladies and gentlemen if they did not share the same school with normal people at their young ages, they probally would not get the self motivation needed for their future adulthoods being in the society itself. a great statistics to prove this is that, the national resources centre on learning disablity found that Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Essay on Nature vs Nurture Debate Nature vs Nurture Debate Nature versus Nurture is the issue of the degree to which environment and heredity influence behavior and development. In this issue nature can be defined as, behaviors due to heredity. Which means behaviors are based on the genetic makeup of an individual and is an influence of the individuals' growth and development throughout life. On the other hand nurture are causes of behaviors that are environmental. Which means the influence is from, parents, siblings, family, friends and all other experiences to which the individual is exposed to. Nurture promotes the twins to grow up as separate individuals. Its a lot better if a twin has his or her own personality rather than the same exact personality of the other half. I think this great debate weighs heavier on the nurture side. As a child my parents, and sibling overshadowed my genetic make–up. No matter how much I thought my physical traits made me behave. It did not affect me more than the things that I had seen and been exposed to. The more things that I had seen around and experienced made me the person that I am today. If my genetic make–up was totally different, to a certain extent, I am sure that I?d behave the same way that I do presently. There are exceptions to that. For instance if I were six foot five and one hundred and ninety pounds, I?d most likely be in the NBA and be really rich. I think if I was really rich and in the NBA I wouldn?t have the same worries that I have today. Even if before I were in the NBA I would have lots of attention and have a lot more confidence. So to an extent I would change a little if my genetic make–up were different. In a sense, genetic make–up is just a competitor to the environmental factors Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. The Debate Over Presidential Debates What topics are labeled important enough to be talked about during presidential debates? Topics such as terrorism and national security; the economy; jobs and employment; and the Affordable Care Act and Healthcare all managed to be the center of attention during all debates. What topics were almost entirely ignored? Topics such as gun policy; social issues like LGBT rights and abortion; and the environment andclimate change were put to the side to instead talk about Hillary Clinton's email scandal or the sexual assault charges brought up against Donald Trump. While terrorism and national security; the economy; jobs and employment; and the Affordable Care Act and Healthcare are all very important topics, but one topic that was ignored and should have been at the forefront of the debate was climate change. Issues like renewable energy, hydraulic fracking, anthropogenic greenhouse gases, and the Paris Agreement should have been hot topics during the three presidential debates. So why were they not? Both the Democrats and Republicans seemed to be more concerned with trying to make the opposing candidate look as bad as possible. However, climate change is not something that should be labeled as a Democratic or Republican problem, instead all political groups should be worried about this topic. Climate change can affect food production, water availability, wildlife and human health. Also, weather conditions such as storms, tornadoes, and earthquakes can damage roads, railroads, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Debate on Taxes Essay Controversy will always follow humans where ever we go. Humans have argued over many issues for centuries, often times with no conclusion or "correct" answer ever in sight. One common issue that has been debated since the early 1900s is whether or not the more wealthy individuals in a society should be taxed more heavily than their poorer counterparts. Many have argued over the pros and cons of the taxation of richer people, but when one looks at it objectively, the pros far outweigh the cons. Not only do the pros outweigh the cons, but a question one must ask oneself is whether or not prosperous people really need that extra money? Richer people should be taxed higher because it is better for the economy, social classes will...show more content... The encouragement of economic disparity because of these tax cuts is bad for America. The US should be aiming for more social and economic equality for everybody. Tax cuts can slow down the economy by putting more money into the wealthy peoples' hands and giving less to the people who need it. Another reason that the wealthy should pay more taxes is because they owe it to society to do so. Every person wouldn't be where they are today without the people who helped raise them and the society they were raised in. In "The Great Gatsby", Nick Carraway is disgusted with Tom and Daisy, "Tom and Daisy–they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness, or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made" (Fitzgerald 179). Nick is repelled by how Tom and Daisy, with all of their money, would do nothing to help the society or other people. Successful people are largely successful due to the society and conditions that they were raised in. Without the better conditions that they were luckily born into, it is logical to question just how successful someone in the top one or ten percent could have been. In a recent commencement speech last summer at Princeton, author Michael Lewis stated "Recognize that if you have had success, you also have had luck–and with luck comes obligation. You owe a debt, and not just to your Gods. You owe a debt to the unlucky". In a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. The Debate With-In Suicide As you walk upon the dark, stormy day making your way to the funeral you ask yourself, "How could they have done this? What lead them to the point of where their own life was the price they had to make to achieve happiness?" Moments before, you were woken up by a phone call at midnight, from your mother's friend, getting the unexpected news that your friend has recently shot themselves in the head. As the service is minutes away from ending, you start to wondering, "How could I miss the signs?" In school, they smiled at everyone, they were the highest ranked student in the school and was the leaning shoulder that everyone could rely on. Now the only thing that you have left from them is a small note thanking you for being there for them, but it wasn't enough. Your mind would be left to wonder the reason why they went for a permanent solution to solve their problems while they rest in eternal peace. According to CBS News, one person commits a suicide about every 40 seconds around the world. With more than half a million people committing this act, you are left to wonder why this is not a topic of controversy or a matter discussed worldwide. The topic of debate with–in suicide is that if someone were to commit this act, if rationalized or irrationalized, it can determine if they did it for honor or took the coward's way out. • 8. School Uniform Debate Essay "School Uniforms: Yes, or No" The concept of having school uniform is a topic that has been debated fir any years. Some students find uniforms necessary, others just hate the colors. I think that the students who think uniforms are unnecessary are wrong. Uniforms are an excellent idea and can help school students be more disciplined, have an equal environment, and enjoy greater academics. School uniforms are a great way to maintain a level of social equality. There are more positive effects of wearing school uniforms than negative. School uniform makes student's lives easier because it eliminates the job of spending hours on picking out clothes for school.First, having school uniform maintains discipline in school. Wearing...show more content... If students are required to wear school uniforms, then they will automatically dress appropriately. Some students hide weapons in their clothes, so if there is uniform, no one will be able to hide any weapon. Secondly, school uniforms create an equal environment. Uniforms eliminate competition. No student will be considered less important than the other. Staying out of uniform is not a problem for the rich students. If there is no uniform, children, who are rich, will wear brand name clothes and children who are poor will wear regular, simple clothing. The poor children will feel left out because they are different. When children wear school uniform, every child is equal. School uniforms are less expensive compared to regular "play clothing", it lasts longer, and they can be reused. School uniforms are professional and help kids take school more seriously. When School uniforms help maintain or rise a school's academic standards. Uniforms help change a person's attitude toward success. Students go to school to learn, not to show off. Without school uniform, kids will spend more time on picking out clothes rather than doing homework. If children don't have choice to show off, make fun, or feel left out, then they will concentrate more on their studies. It is proven that schools that have uniforms have higher benchmark scores, SAT scores, and students which decide to go to college. In conclusion, school uniforms do not affect who Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. The Great Homework Debate Before we move forward in determining what is effected by way of homework we need to examine the history that this debate is going through. The great homework debate has gone thru great changes since its inception. During earlier times children in the lower grades, grades one through four, received very little if any homework through the year, however the older grades received in upwards of three hours per night. As years went on we've seen this debate go from a positive factor for academics to a negative factor. There been many academic and child health organizations that have led various different movements on this debate. Just since the 1950s we have seen this debate take on numerous schools of thought from one extreme to the other. Often Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 11. My Reflection Of Speech : My Importance Of Debate This year I took debate and throughout this whole year I learned in many ways how taking debate is beneficial to me, and how it helped me throughout my school year and my later life in general. Such as how to speak clearly, extend my voice and how to pronounce and enunciate clearly so that my voice is vocalized clearly and in a way that is in a way that is very understandable to everyone. Which can be seen on numerous occasions from ballots at the beginning of the year such as " AST # 1 " which I learned a lot from as it was my first debate and at this tournament I took congressional debate and what I learned from this is that I have to use my voice because if I didn't I wouldn't be able to speak which is what happened to me and at my...show more content... One thing that greatly affected me was my self–confidence, that had taken the better of me before I had taken debate, and once I took the class my confidence in anything was much improved, for example just like our debate quote " I spoke my mind " more frequently after I took debate. Which has liberated my voice to what I want to say, no matter what anybody believes about me, and leading to myself not getting held back at all Debate has taught me how to have more in–depth conversations with people and a better way of communicating in a way that is clear and complex. I struggled in a lot of areas in debate and even currently I still struggle in a few areas. For example, these past 3 school quarters in debate I have not done so well and I fell short many times just trying to look for what my calling was in debate. But in the end, I found out what the purpose of a debate was which is, " an engagement of an argument by discussing opposing points " and for me the two sides of my debate where the part which learned and the part that struggled. Such as, the part of me that struggled remembering points and the part that forgot to practice, which held me back from succeeding in speech and debate. But the part of me learned, and it learned from the struggles I had, such as how I spoke to how I acted, and changed them to a more advanced and proper way, that where some areas I struggled in and how I learned from them. I can improve upon areas such as Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Debate of Globalization Essay 1. Globalization affects national sovereignty of both developing countries as well as developed countries. By sovereignty, we mean the independence of countries to make decisions and conduct policy in different areas like the economy, corporate and industry related legislation, environmental regulations, politics, etc. From the video, please provide one example each of how globalization infringes on the national sovereignty of, a) a developing country, and, b) a developed country? How, and through which agency/organization/rule, did each of the above infringements occur? Globalization infringes on the national sovereignty of a developing country and a developed country. Please provide two examples from the video of how globalization affected the culture of a country (can be more than one country)? Were the effects in your opinion, good or bad? France – In France, in order to prevent the dilution of their culture, they have prohibited the business use of US terms such as le weekend and le drugstore. They also protect their movie industry. France also went into battle with McDonalds. "In the battle for France, Jose BovГ©, the protester who vandalized a McDonald's in 1999 and was then running for president, proved to be no match for Le Big Mac. The first round of the presidential election was held on April 22, and BovГ© finished an embarrassing tenth, garnering barely 1 percent of the total vote. By then, McDonald's had eleven hundred restaurants in France, three hundred more than it had had when BovГ© gave new meaning to the term "drive–through." The company was pulling in over a million people per day in France, and annual turnover was growing at twice the rate it was in the United States. Arresting as those numbers were, there was an even more astonishing data point: By 2007, France had become the second–most profitable market in the world for McDonald's, surpassed only by the land that gave the world fast food. Against McDonald's, BovГ© had lost in a landslide." The French, in my opinion, had a right to protect their culture from US "Coca–colonization", a term that refers to globalization or cultural Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Team processes and preparation and public speaking skills are both equally important key factors for success in debating as team processes involved in preparation for debate, such as group personality composition that creates cohesion and synergy and group norms that enhance the group's ability to work together, equip the team to work effectively therefore improving performance however if team members are unable to deliver an argument to an audience with confidence due to communication apprehension, the speaker's credibility will be lessened therefore the message will be less persuasive and the intended communication goal may...show more content... When cohesion and synergy are achieved team performance and group effectiveness are increased. Barrick et al (1998: 382) argues that this is because cohesion and synergy improve communication, conflict resolution and distribution of workload. Tyler et al (2005: 225) explain the positive effects that synergy has on group effectiveness by stating that 'highly cohesive groups have a strong structure because their members are highly committed to the group and cooperate to preserve it'. Tyler et al (2005: 225) go on to state that cohesion improves group effectiveness as higher levels of commitment by team members is favourable to achieving higher levels of performance and that cohesion allows team members to concentrate on performance rather than group conflict. Barrick et al (1998: 380) furthers the argument that conscientiousness is a trait that leads to synergy and group effectiveness by suggesting that conscientiousness enables each team member to contribute more to the team performance therefore encouraging better results. The fact that group personality traits such as cooperation, agreeableness, conscientiousness, achievement motivation and helpfulness lead to cohesion and synergy and improved group Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. The Global Climate Change Debate Essay The Global Climate Change Debate – How do I know what to believe? Introduction: Climate change has been a topic of debate for decades. Scientists support climate change is happening with hard scientific evidence whereas the people who oppose climate change have evidence which is mainly opinion–based. This report will cover what climate change is, why climate change is happening, the science that supports climate change, the different views and opinions on climate change, the effects of climate change around the world and particularly the effects in New Zealand, my opinion on climate change and my conclusion on the issue. The science of Climate Change: (1)The process of climate change The most basic definition for climate change is a change in the average weather conditions and this has always been a part of the Earth's natural process however recently climate change has been used to refer to the change caused by human activities, this is known as Human–Induced Climate Change. Human–Induced Climate Change began after the Industrial Revolution but it didn't have a large effect until after the 1950s in which human activities greatly accelerated. Will Steffen in an interview referred to this as "The Great Acceleration" (2) (2)The Great Acceleration shows how human activities and environmental trends have increased of the past 60 years. You have no weapons, no hands, you have nothing but your mouth. Would you be successful or just another victim, the most likely scenario is the ladder. Today's generation is quick to use violence to resolve issues instead of using their words, and i am inclined to believe that it has to do with the fact that they do not know how to have a civilized debate. This is where debate comes into play, debate is when you argue against an opponent trying to prove that your right and your opponent is wrong. I have been in debate almost my entire highschool term and i can honestly say that debate has gotten me out of many sticky situations for the simple fact i knew how to talk to someone and get my point across. I remember when i was in a debate and the topic was, is "Urban Transit" a necessity in rundown neighborhoods. I was on the affirmative side, the side which is for the plan and my opponent asked would I be willing to ride the bus with convicts and criminals. Now everyone's initial answer should...show more content... Topicality debate is when the debate goes from facts to definitions this is by far the hardest form of debate because every word comes into play and you have to know the right definition I can think of many times where I completely beat my opponent on the definitions of there, they're or their. You would be surprised how many people don't know the difference. Now you're probably thinking what does that have to do with arguing but the truth is it has everything to do with it. If you don't know the right definitions how can you even argue someone. It's like trying to tell someone that the sky is blue we might know it's blue but if they truly believe it's a different color then there is no Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Anti-Vaxxer Debate Anti–Vaxxer Debate In these blog post "Enough is Enough with Blaming 'Anit–Vaxxers'" by Modern Alternative Health and "Enough is Never Enough with Blaming 'Anit–Vaxxers'" by SciBabe, they each gave their opinions about vaccination choice and their reaction to the 2015 measles outbreak at Disneyland. While Scibabe is more on the offensive side and pointing out Modern Alternative Health's flaws, Modern Alternative Health stays more on the defensive side in order to get her point across. Just one thing that both of these blogs post can agree on is that children are suffering one way or another, no doubt about it, the children are the first priority. For the Modern Alternative Health blog post, she is defending her side, which is having vaccine choice and her group of anti–vaxxers. This was all a reaction to the Disneyland...show more content... Throughout the blog post, SciBabe points out how MAH goes back and forth through her statistics only to make them sound more appealing to her readers. Also SciBabe did not seem happy of the thought that MAH is calling pro–vaxxers hate groups and making all pro–vaxxers seem like they attack little kids in playgrounds and in school. To balance out the hate, SciBabe attacks MAH's husband who goes by the name "The Happy Factory," which SciBabe claims that he makes fun of mentally handicapped people and points out how they are a Christian family. One thing that SciBabe could have done better in order to have a more persuasive argument would be to add some of her own facts or statistics, where scientific evidence can help back up her claims. She seemed more focused on persuading pro–vaxxers by doing the same thing that MAH did, by attacking each other. Even if MAH have good or bad facts, those facts help make MAH seem more convincing. It is only a matter on how you present things, but it is obvious that this is only two groups of people attacking each other for a particular Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Vaccination Debate Debate Reflection Personally, before doing any research and participating in this debate I was pro vaccines. Mainly due to my mom who is a nurse; she made sure my siblings and I received every vaccination needed for school and those not required for school. Her reason for why she made us get them when questioned by my brothers and I was that "you never know what anyone has and it will help protect you and keep you strong". This was one of the viewpoints brought up in the debate alongside many other viewpoints that helped to solidify my view of vaccines. The first perspective that was debated from was the health provider. It was from this perspective that I had to defend the use and importance of vaccinations. The major points that I and...show more content... Before this debate, I never really thought about what these companies were gaining and losing by producing and selling these vaccines. For me this perspective vastly altered my perception of the importance of vaccinations/immunizations. The only pro idea that had any value to me was how much money people and in the end society saved in medical expenses by vaccinating. The students that represented pharmaceutical companies against vaccinations indicated a variety of great justifications. A few that I found insightful were: 1) over time it has become less profitable for pharma companies to produce and sell vaccines, 2) they make more money from selling drugs compared to vaccines, and lastly 3) the negative impact of adverse events from vaccines on companies image a great which can hurt them when trying to sell the other things their company sells. After listening to those ideas, I was now truly stuck in the middle about the importance of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Mind Body Debate Essay The mind body debate has been occurring for all of human history. Ideas of a soul, or an existence beyond the physical can be found in ancient peoples, and can be found, at least in some capacity, in very religion. However, it came to academia after Descartes proposed that the mind and body are separate identies with the mind holding more power over a person than the brain. He states, "I knew I was a substance whose whole essence or nature is simply to think, and which does not require any place, or depend on any material thing, in order to exist. Accordingly this 'I' [that is, the mind . . .] is entirely distinct from the body, and [. . .] would not fail to be whatever it is, even if the body did not exist," and thus Dualism entered the scene...show more content... These particles and others behave like both particles and waves (Atmanspacher). They have simpler properties, but the difference in their nature is what causes confusion. In the same way, the brain and the mind have an extremely similar nature, but are often considered two different entities due to different of appearance. For example, two people may have similar brain functions, they can both be feeling the same emotion, like anger. When looking at the physical brain we can see that testosterone increases, cortisol decreases, and the left hemisphere of the brain is more active (Neus). But, we cannot see how these changes will react with the person's mind. One person may lash out and become violent and then is clam after a short while. The other may be seemingly clam on the outside, but filled with a rage that will last for weeks. What caused the differences? It was not a difference in physical characteristics; therefore, it must have been a non–physical component of the brain. While the neurology of the brain may give us an understanding of the way it works, to have a deeper understanding of the human being as a whole it is important to look at all aspects of the brain, including the metaphysical. Physical characteristics do not show the desires, dreams, or causations of a person's behavior, only the behavior in Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Democratic Debates In the democratic debates they focus on issues that they hold close to them and deem as important. The major topics in the democratic debates represented climate change, terrorism free college tuitions, Hilary Clintons past came up several times during the debate. Another major topic was the "racial divides" in our country and the civic group black lives matter. What struck me in a bad way was when they answered a question about if all lives matter or do black lives matter. Well they probably divided the whole country when they admitted to the nation that black lives matter. Which I believe was probably the stupidest thing that they could've said in my opinion because of course black lives matter but so do you white lives and any other ethnicities...show more content... If anything the debates have solidified my choices. They have been narrowed to two people Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz. There are several reasons I like the two, I will give you a couple of these reasons. Firstly, I like these two candidates because they are the younger of the whole group. For me they appeal to the younger generation, and we need to have a leader that can unite the younger generation as well as the older generations and the more conservative. Secondly, I like these two candidates because they aren't afraid to tell things like it is. They don't believe in the political correctness, if it needs to be said and is important to say they aren't afraid to say it. Finally, I like these great people because I believe that if we ever had to confront a challenge towards our country, they aren't going to be to politically correct to accomplish anything needed to further our safety as a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
