Four Myths Of Conflict
Part A (10%)
Explain the terms of Conflict based on your own understanding. Identify and explain 4 (FOUR) myths of conflict.
Introduction
In the first part of the assignment, we are required to share and discuss the terms of conflict and the myths that evolve around it based on our own
understanding. Conflict is understood unequivocally by the influence of the way one ponders the idea of conflict. Meanings of conflict move in
reverse and advance between the strife being seen as a negative or as a positive procedure. (Lyamouri–Bajja, Genneby, Markosyan and Ohana, 2012).
Sometimes, conflict is presented as a marvel characteristic, an outsider or irregular occurrence in social life, but others consider it as an important
condition for the advancement and development...show more content...
The most joyful wedded couples are not the ones that never have conflicts but rather the ones that deal with their conflicts in a nurturing way. The truth
be told, healthy and unhealthy relationships have different opinions and fight about a similar number of things. There are couples who have conflicts
but regard each other. Likewise, they are honest and willing to apologize. ( Pearson, 2007). The fourth myth is not all conflicts can be determined.
Every conflict cannot be settled. At times, you may have an esteem distinction with an individual that you can't resolve and all the contending on the
planet wouldn't alter both of your opinions. So you should quit and understand that it will be an unsettled conflict.
Conclusion
Conflict is a typical cycle of persisting connections. It is unavoidable and unresolved only because numerous feelings influences conflict. ( Herstin,
2002 ). On the other hand, compassion can be used as a shared responsibility with poise and regard. At the end of the day, being genuinely merciful
means minding enough to take part in inventive conflicts with somebody. That is a capable opportunity so there is no need to avoid

Prompt: Conflict is essential for growth and advancement
Good evening all. Today I am here to talk to you about the great debate of climate change. For those of you who don't know, climate change is the
change in global or regional climate patterns and is attributed largely to the increased levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide produced by the use of
fossil fuels. In today's society the general lack of interest and ignorance to climate change is astounding. You today are the generation of the future and
if you want a planet for yourself and your future children it is your responsibility to act now and retaliate to the sceptics and deniers! Human
advancement has been dependent on pushing the boundaries...show more content...
Obama said "The shift to a cleaner economy won't happen overnight, and it will require tough choices along the way. But the debate is settled. Climate
change is a fact". Obama is right in saying that climate change is not easily solved there is work to do which can cause further conflict like that of
the loss of jobs in mining, but this can be compensated for the amount of new jobs in renewable energy. We can look to other countries for help
like that of Samso in Denmark which has reached its goal of 100% renewable energy which was supposed to be reached by 2050 but was reached
just 2 years ago. If one small country like this can do it, why can't we? Other places around the world like Norway which has a population of over 5
million have nearly reached the goal (are currently around 98%) of complete solar power. People like you in these countries have started a
revolution where they want a brighter a future and you could have that here too. Over 80% of the Australian population believe that climate change is
happening according to the CSIRO survey. If that many people believe it is happening then why aren't we still doing anything about it? We have
opportunities with technology nowadays to make this conflict known and get it out there. Vote for a new prime minister, rally for what you believe,
inform people that don't know. Do what you need to do in order to make this world a more liveable

Encountering Conflict
Encountering conflict
My main intention is to persuade the audience on the topic that those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it and to pass year 12. The
violent encounters of the past contain valuable lessons about resolving conflict. This writing is to be directed at the people reading it, which will be the
general audience that doesn't really understand the lessons of past and present conflict. Based on real world examples, and examples from the crucible.
The style of writing is an expository.
Conflict can bring out the best and worst qualities in individuals, and also in communities. Arthur Miller explores this in his play The Crucible. When
witchcraft is declared in Salem, the reactions of the members of this...show more content...
Suspicions were often given credence despite inconclusive or questionable evidence, and the level of threat posed by a person's real or supposed leftist
associations or beliefs was often greatly exaggerated. Many people suffered loss of employment, destruction of their careers, and even imprisonment.
Most of these punishments came about through trial verdicts later overturned, laws that would be declared unconstitutional, dismissals for reasons later
declared illegal or actionable, or extra–legal procedures that would come into general disrepute
Getting away from the crucible, conflict tests the character of a sporting a club or team, just look at Brendan Fevola the former Carlton and
Brisbane Player the conflict he caused for both clubs really test the character of the football club and when it came to whether he had to be sacked
or not, showed there strength as football club and how they won't stand for such nonsense with a player of their football club. They had a player
who all he did wrong at their club was get drunk on New Year's Eve which surely he wasn't the only the one, flashing a women which the police
cleared him of anyway it seemed they were eager to this as a scapegoat to get rid of him, the whole Lara Bingle conflict which actually happened at
another club and none of this could've possibly came into consideration but it all somehow did have an effect on the final

Words To Describe Conflict
People can best describe conflict by having a positive attitude and also have positive thinking in themselves and other people. The first paragraph
is about a young girl that was Jewish and was small for her life to end so quick and that story is a good way to describe positive thinking because she
was smart and know what was going on and she survived those years good she always had a positive attitude and positive thinking in all those
years that she was locked in a secret hiding place. The second paragraph is also a good way for people to respond to conflict with positive attitude and
thinking. The paragraph is about a girl that was a good speaker and she saved the world and she was actually shot in the head and people didn't know she

CONFLICTS and
FRUSTRATIONS
Conflict * It is the emotional state or condition in which people have to make difficult decisions about two or more competing motives, behaviors or
impulses. * Kurt Lewin(was a German–American psychologist, known as one of the modern pioneers of social, organizational, and applied psychology)
* He described two opposite tendencies of conflict: approach and avoidance. When something attracts us, we want to approach it; when something
frightens us, we try to avoid it. * For example: Choosing between two equally desirable academic courses, both of which will advance your career
plans but which meet at the same schedule .

* The environment does not afford all incentives that our various motives require.
Example conditions: * Food may not be available to satisfy hunger. * One may not have the money to purchase what he wants or needs. * One's
friends may not provide the attention and admiration that required to satisfy his desires for status, love and so on.
Sources of frustration (Lerit)
Human frustrations stems from three sources: * Inability to overcome obstacles in the physical environment. * Inability to overcome restrictions
imposed by other people. * Inability to satisfy conflicting motives or to obtain incompatible goals.
*Physical Environment (lerit) * It is always the focus of some frustrations, is of primary importance during infancy and early childhood. * In
adulthood, it is not usually a major source of frustration except for the physically or economically handicapped or in times of natural disasters.
Examples: * Disease * Debility * Slum overcrowding * Floods * Fires * Accidents and storms For example: A drought or typhoon can frustrate a
farmers because it adversely affect their harvest.
*Social Environment (lerit) * it presents such obstacles as restrictions imposed by other people and the customs and laws of the community. * For
example: Children are thwarted by parental denial, disapproval and postponement.
*Organism(itself) (Lerit) * within individuals

Conflict: Human and Lives Essay
We can never avoid conflict, we have to face it one way or another. In a world filled with diversity, conflict is an inescapable and incredibly
important element in our lives. Conflict occurs when there is a difference of opinions, ideas or morals between individuals, groups or even within
ourselves. It is what allows us to grow and further develop our lives and forces us to change the way we think and act. Conflict makes us
compromise and learn from our mistakes. It is true that we can never avoid conflict and we must face it in one way or another in our lifetime. In our
existence we face many different types of conflicts; some bear little significance while others immensely transform our way of life. Different parts of
our world are...show more content...
To desire more than what is needed is second nature to humans. Often this is complemented by jealously and is a recipe for disaster. Throughout
our lives we will be envious of those around us and feel as if what we possess is not adequate for our needs. Not only does this cause conflict
between individuals and groups, it destroys relationships between families and friends. Many conflicts around the world arise from envy. A key
example of this can be seen in a conflict between India and Pakistan over the northern border of Kashmir separating the two countries. Each claims
it to be theirs and has caused frequent conflicts over the past decade resulting in the deaths of many civilians. We as humans must overcome many
conflicts in our daily lives. These may be small and trivial at times but can also be immense and life changing. Even the simple task of getting out of
bed on a cold morning may seem like a huge undertaking while a severe dispute within a social group resulting in exile will lead to life changing
consequences. Conflict may even occur unknowingly to one's self through actions that affect other individuals. Not everyone gets along with the
people around them due to different habits, behaviour traits and way of life leading to disparities and conflicts Many people argue that it is possible to
avoid conflict during our lives. They believe that living amicably and without resentment can help avoid conflict. Even though this is a

Conflict is the true test of an individual's internal strength and understanding, encountering conflict can evoke an individual to reassess their values,
morals and beliefs', staying true is the best way to deal with the animosity. It is through this that social order can deteriorate into conflict and anarchy
with disturbing ease; it is a fear of difference and is not always easy to distinguish the innocent from the guilty in contesting situations. Conflict can be
the struggle between the protagonists or antagonists against nature, contradictory emotions or opposing forces, manipulating an individual to fulfill the

unreal; the environment resembles an absence of spontaneity, emotional colouring and depth, contrasting to the authenticity of reality. The
psychological connections between Winston Smith and Othello are formulated through the internal battle to stay true to core values, morals and beliefs
when dealing with the animosity. The conflict of the party being enabled to control and manipulate the encounters of the past, formulating an altered
present truth while subduing the minds of innocent humans erupts. The internal strength and understanding of Winston Smith becomes embroiled and

11/30/07 Life Change Imagine starting a book that you have to read for class, one that really looks interesting and you can't wait to get into the
middle of it to find out who dies, who cheats, or who solves the world's mystery. All of the anticipation is for nothing. You can't read it, your mind
wanders and thinks of everything else but concentrating on the story. Some people call it laziness, but to others it is a serious mind problem that just
won't let you concentrate no matter how hard you try. I can remember rereading paragraphs multiple times because my mind would wander into some
other world; I would still be reading, but unable to absorb the content of the text. My life changing event was when I was finally able to sit down and

just sitting here peacefully writing my essay for English. Do you remember when you read your first book and while reading it you couldn't put it
down, for who knew what would happen next. I remember it clear as day, I had to read a novel for English class Senior year and it really looked
like a book I would just look at on "Spark Notes", but I decided to give it a try. When I read my first book without being distracted by spacing out or
any little sound that I heard I loved it. The novel was a Tail of Two Cities". Most of my classmates dislikes this book, but I found it very interesting.
I could never wait for what would come next and it had some historical significance to it as well. I was amazed on how complex some characters
can be in just a simple story. The way the writer was able to detail the setting and give the reader such a clear picture was perfect. It was as if I was
there with that characters throughout the whole period of time that the novel took place. Reading became one of my hobbies after I obtained pills
for ADD, I could really put myself right in the story and it became my own little world. I was never before able to read a book without reading the
chapter a couple of times. My homework would take twice as long as many other students, so most of the time I would use "Spark Notes" and not even

Handling Conflict
Throughout my life, there have been many different times in which I have faced conflict. While conflict is not the most comfortable obstacle to
encounter, it can often have a beneficial outcome for most parties. Conflict occurs when contrasting beliefs, information, or opinions are present in a
situation. This contrast can often lead to cognitive dissonance. In order to resolve this dissonance, the conflicting feelings or opinions need to find
some kind of common ground to reach a mutual agreement. In my experience, when I find myself in conflict, I'm very understanding to others' points of
views, but I also know when to stand my ground. The place where I've encountered conflict most is in my personal life, or relationship conflict. As
I've grown, I've learned that people come and go in your life due to many different reasons. More times than not, people grow apart from their old
friends because they simply...show more content...
According to the "Strategies for Handling Conflict" survey, I have a normal ability to handle conflict, and I employ many of the different
strategies there are to combating problems. However, there are some that I use more than others. I try not to avoid conflict because I feel that this
often times can create even more conflict. There are times when I am too assertive, and I can be hesitant to bring in outsiders, even though this can
be a very effective way to resolve conflict. I've also learned that sometimes the hardest part in reaching functional outcomes is recognizing when
there is conflict, and deciding on what the best approach is to solving the issue. After taking this class, I will have much more tools to step back
from conflict and look at it with a more informed lens. I will know all of the major ways in which conflict can be handled, and I will be able to assess
which one will fit the conflict at

Concept of Conflict
CONFLICT: BASIC CONCEPT The word conflict has been derived from the Latin word 'Confligere'; which means to Strike or attack altogether. In
the present world, there are conflicts found everywhere. Each conflict has a reason behind it. these conflicts usually occur when two or more
individuals or groups feel they have irreconcilable differences, or they feel that there needs, interests or wants are threatened by the existence of the
other groups demands. Hence clashes become inevitable. People all over the world, have different perspectives on life, and its problems, depending
upon the environment, in which they have lived. CLASSIFICATION Latent Conflict– Conflicts exist but are not expressed. Overt Conflict – Conflicts

Identity Theory: 1)Through facilitated workshops and dialogue for conflicting parties to identify threats and fears they each feel & to build empathy &
reconciliation within themselves. 2)To jointly reach agreements that recognize the core– identity needs of all parties. Inter–cultural Miscommunication
Theory: 1)To increase the conflicting parties knowledge for each other's culture. 2)To weaken negative stereotypes they have of each other & ultimately
to enhance effective inter– cultural communication. REVIEW Unmet needs would always place high demands and higher damages in any conflict.

Safety, Respect & Participation. Unmet needs for identity, culture, religion, values or a perception that these are threatened.

Definition Essay On Conflict
In our world conflict is an issue no human can avoid. Whether hearing about it through the news or through a trusted source, or simply just
experiencing it in daily lives. Conflict in my definition is when there is a disagreement or problem at stake and an issue forms. For example a
conflict can be as little as a small argument of opinions or a fight about toys between siblings, to as immense as a war starting or starvation in certain
countries. Conflict can be emotional, or it can be physical, like a fight. Conflict has happened all over the world. Conflict is what starts wars and can
create chaos among humans. This is similar to the disagreements that took place during a quarrel between the Native Americans and the non–natives
coming into what was the Washington territory. The conflict that happened between these different cultures was both...show more content...
The definition of the action to assimilate according to Merriam Webster is "to absorb into the cultural tradition of a population or group". But in the
case of the Native Americans their assimilation was much more forced. The kids were taken off into boarding schools that taught them how to become
like the white people or the settlers, during this they lost a majority of their culture and background, relationships with family, and even their language
because whenever they tried to speak their native tongue they were beaten and punished. Each child was given a new name according to the English
culture along with learning English, and even dressing like they would.
These were just three of the many factors that played into the conflict between the Native Americans and the Settlers. Out of these three factors I
believe that assimilation is the most important factor. I think that this is so because when the settlers attempted to assimilate the Indians the first time a
major event that happened was the Whitman

Overcome Conflict
People face conflict every day of their lives and, most often, many different types of conflict in one day. Conflict is something that causes anxiety
and fear and most often is something people want to avoid if they can. The good thing about conflict is that is forces a person to focus on the skills
they have to find a solution that makes them feel good inside. How people respond to conflict depends on their understanding of the problem facing
them, deciding to overcome the challenge successfully and then using brainstorming and decision making skills to actually implement a plan to
overcome the conflict they are facing. Claim? All conflict situations are based upon facts and a truth. Conflicts are supported by the relationship
between causes and effect; a person can usually determine very easily the outcome of every conflict if certain decision is made in how to solve the
conflict. For example, a student has been invited to attend an event on the same night he knows he should study for a test. The student knows he
does not know the test subject well and therefore knows he will not do well on the test if he does not study. The cause of the conflict is the test; the
effect of not studying for the test is most likely going to be the student getting a poor grade on the test. The logic is very simple in this example. The
student can easily foresee what will happen if he chooses not to study for the test. Conflict often have a simple truth...show more content...

Reflection On Conflict
In this paper I will describe a conflict that has occurred in my life. It had a huge impact on my second year of college and even today things still pop
up from it, because I still run into each of these girls. In this particular conflict between my old roommates we will review a course concept involving
the four phases of conflict escalation. Starting with phase one, a perceived threat to someone, followed by defensiveness, then stonewalling, and lastly
contempt. After the conflict occurs, one of the parties' uses the course concept of face saving by portraying something that is not really her true
feeling. In order to overcome this conflict, I will discuss how the parties need to mediate and learn to communicate efficiently, as well as listen to
each other more. The course concept I will use to help solve the conflict is a facultative method with a third party intervention. I am also hoping to
make a facilitating reappraisal, where it might be possible to reframe the conflict. While discussing facilitating reappraisal we will dig deeper into
discussing third party intervention, which I believe both parties may need.
My rationale for this particular choice of conflict is based on the horrible living experience I went through last year. After the conflict, my
roommates continued to struggle to get along and would argue over little things, when there seemed to be something deeper. It bothered me for a
long time because it also impacted me. Our first year of living together everything went well, however it all started when our lease came to an end so
we were going to have to resign. So my roommates and I ended up picking a different town house in the same apartment complex because it was
bigger. The week before it came time to sign Kaia had said that she wanted a room on the third floor. Beth at some point in time had said she wanted
a room with a window since the previous year she had not had one. Well, a week went by and the last day to sign was here. However, Kaia got up
that morning and went ahead and signed because she was going to be gone all day bridesmaid shopping for her sister. When Beth went up to sign later
she was upset because she had apparently wanted the third floor with the window and didn't

Four Myths Of Conflict

  • 1. Four Myths Of Conflict Part A (10%) Explain the terms of Conflict based on your own understanding. Identify and explain 4 (FOUR) myths of conflict. Introduction In the first part of the assignment, we are required to share and discuss the terms of conflict and the myths that evolve around it based on our own understanding. Conflict is understood unequivocally by the influence of the way one ponders the idea of conflict. Meanings of conflict move in reverse and advance between the strife being seen as a negative or as a positive procedure. (Lyamouri–Bajja, Genneby, Markosyan and Ohana, 2012). Sometimes, conflict is presented as a marvel characteristic, an outsider or irregular occurrence in social life, but others consider it as an important condition for the advancement and development...show more content... The most joyful wedded couples are not the ones that never have conflicts but rather the ones that deal with their conflicts in a nurturing way. The truth be told, healthy and unhealthy relationships have different opinions and fight about a similar number of things. There are couples who have conflicts but regard each other. Likewise, they are honest and willing to apologize. ( Pearson, 2007). The fourth myth is not all conflicts can be determined. Every conflict cannot be settled. At times, you may have an esteem distinction with an individual that you can't resolve and all the contending on the planet wouldn't alter both of your opinions. So you should quit and understand that it will be an unsettled conflict. Conclusion Conflict is a typical cycle of persisting connections. It is unavoidable and unresolved only because numerous feelings influences conflict. ( Herstin, 2002 ). On the other hand, compassion can be used as a shared responsibility with poise and regard. At the end of the day, being genuinely merciful means minding enough to take part in inventive conflicts with somebody. That is a capable opportunity so there is no need to avoid Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Encountering Conflict Encountering Conflict– The Life of Galileo Prompt: Conflict is essential for growth and advancement Good evening all. Today I am here to talk to you about the great debate of climate change. For those of you who don't know, climate change is the change in global or regional climate patterns and is attributed largely to the increased levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide produced by the use of fossil fuels. In today's society the general lack of interest and ignorance to climate change is astounding. You today are the generation of the future and if you want a planet for yourself and your future children it is your responsibility to act now and retaliate to the sceptics and deniers! Human advancement has been dependent on pushing the boundaries...show more content... Obama said "The shift to a cleaner economy won't happen overnight, and it will require tough choices along the way. But the debate is settled. Climate change is a fact". Obama is right in saying that climate change is not easily solved there is work to do which can cause further conflict like that of the loss of jobs in mining, but this can be compensated for the amount of new jobs in renewable energy. We can look to other countries for help like that of Samso in Denmark which has reached its goal of 100% renewable energy which was supposed to be reached by 2050 but was reached just 2 years ago. If one small country like this can do it, why can't we? Other places around the world like Norway which has a population of over 5 million have nearly reached the goal (are currently around 98%) of complete solar power. People like you in these countries have started a revolution where they want a brighter a future and you could have that here too. Over 80% of the Australian population believe that climate change is happening according to the CSIRO survey. If that many people believe it is happening then why aren't we still doing anything about it? We have opportunities with technology nowadays to make this conflict known and get it out there. Vote for a new prime minister, rally for what you believe, inform people that don't know. Do what you need to do in order to make this world a more liveable Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Encountering Conflict Encountering conflict My main intention is to persuade the audience on the topic that those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it and to pass year 12. The violent encounters of the past contain valuable lessons about resolving conflict. This writing is to be directed at the people reading it, which will be the general audience that doesn't really understand the lessons of past and present conflict. Based on real world examples, and examples from the crucible. The style of writing is an expository. Conflict can bring out the best and worst qualities in individuals, and also in communities. Arthur Miller explores this in his play The Crucible. When witchcraft is declared in Salem, the reactions of the members of this...show more content... They had a player who all he did wrong at their club was get drunk on New Year's Eve which surely he wasn't the only the one, flashing a women which the police cleared him of anyway it seemed they were eager to this as a scapegoat to get rid of him, the whole Lara Bingle conflict which actually happened at another club and none of this could've possibly came into consideration but it all somehow did have an effect on the final Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The first paragraph is about a young girl that was Jewish and was small for her life to end so quick and that story is a good way to describe positive thinking because she was smart and know what was going on and she survived those years good she always had a positive attitude and positive thinking in all those years that she was locked in a secret hiding place. • 7. Conflict: Human and Lives Essay We can never avoid conflict, we have to face it one way or another. In a world filled with diversity, conflict is an inescapable and incredibly important element in our lives. Conflict occurs when there is a difference of opinions, ideas or morals between individuals, groups or even within ourselves. It is what allows us to grow and further develop our lives and forces us to change the way we think and act. Conflict makes us compromise and learn from our mistakes. It is true that we can never avoid conflict and we must face it in one way or another in our lifetime. In our existence we face many different types of conflicts; some bear little significance while others immensely transform our way of life. Different parts of our world are...show more content... To desire more than what is needed is second nature to humans. Often this is complemented by jealously and is a recipe for disaster. Throughout our lives we will be envious of those around us and feel as if what we possess is not adequate for our needs. Not only does this cause conflict between individuals and groups, it destroys relationships between families and friends. Many conflicts around the world arise from envy. A key example of this can be seen in a conflict between India and Pakistan over the northern border of Kashmir separating the two countries. Each claims it to be theirs and has caused frequent conflicts over the past decade resulting in the deaths of many civilians. We as humans must overcome many conflicts in our daily lives. These may be small and trivial at times but can also be immense and life changing. Even the simple task of getting out of bed on a cold morning may seem like a huge undertaking while a severe dispute within a social group resulting in exile will lead to life changing consequences. Conflict may even occur unknowingly to one's self through actions that affect other individuals. Not everyone gets along with the people around them due to different habits, behaviour traits and way of life leading to disparities and conflicts Many people argue that it is possible to avoid conflict during our lives. They believe that living amicably and without resentment can help avoid conflict. Even though this is a Get more content on HelpWriting.net

It is through this that social order can deteriorate into conflict and anarchy with disturbing ease; it is a fear of difference and is not always easy to distinguish the innocent from the guilty in contesting situations. Personal Conflict 11/30/07 Life Change Imagine starting a book that you have to read for class, one that really looks interesting and you can't wait to get into the middle of it to find out who dies, who cheats, or who solves the world's mystery. All of the anticipation is for nothing. You can't read it, your mind wanders and thinks of everything else but concentrating on the story. Some people call it laziness, but to others it is a serious mind problem that just won't let you concentrate no matter how hard you try. I remember it clear as day, I had to read a novel for English class Senior year and it really looked like a book I would just look at on "Spark Notes", but I decided to give it a try. When I read my first book without being distracted by spacing out or any little sound that I heard I loved it. The novel was a Tail of Two Cities". Most of my classmates dislikes this book, but I found it very interesting. I could never wait for what would come next and it had some historical significance to it as well. I was amazed on how complex some characters can be in just a simple story. The way the writer was able to detail the setting and give the reader such a clear picture was perfect. It was as if I was there with that characters throughout the whole period of time that the novel took place. Reading became one of my hobbies after I obtained pills for ADD, I could really put myself right in the story and it became my own little world. I was never before able to read a book without reading the chapter a couple of times. • 10. Handling Conflict Throughout my life, there have been many different times in which I have faced conflict. While conflict is not the most comfortable obstacle to encounter, it can often have a beneficial outcome for most parties. Conflict occurs when contrasting beliefs, information, or opinions are present in a situation. This contrast can often lead to cognitive dissonance. In order to resolve this dissonance, the conflicting feelings or opinions need to find some kind of common ground to reach a mutual agreement. In my experience, when I find myself in conflict, I'm very understanding to others' points of views, but I also know when to stand my ground. The place where I've encountered conflict most is in my personal life, or relationship conflict. As I've grown, I've learned that people come and go in your life due to many different reasons. More times than not, people grow apart from their old friends because they simply...show more content... According to the "Strategies for Handling Conflict" survey, I have a normal ability to handle conflict, and I employ many of the different strategies there are to combating problems. However, there are some that I use more than others. I try not to avoid conflict because I feel that this often times can create even more conflict. There are times when I am too assertive, and I can be hesitant to bring in outsiders, even though this can be a very effective way to resolve conflict. I've also learned that sometimes the hardest part in reaching functional outcomes is recognizing when there is conflict, and deciding on what the best approach is to solving the issue. After taking this class, I will have much more tools to step back from conflict and look at it with a more informed lens. I will know all of the major ways in which conflict can be handled, and I will be able to assess which one will fit the conflict at Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 12. Definition Essay On Conflict In our world conflict is an issue no human can avoid. Whether hearing about it through the news or through a trusted source, or simply just experiencing it in daily lives. Conflict in my definition is when there is a disagreement or problem at stake and an issue forms. For example a conflict can be as little as a small argument of opinions or a fight about toys between siblings, to as immense as a war starting or starvation in certain countries. Conflict can be emotional, or it can be physical, like a fight. Conflict has happened all over the world. Conflict is what starts wars and can create chaos among humans. This is similar to the disagreements that took place during a quarrel between the Native Americans and the non–natives coming into what was the Washington territory. The conflict that happened between these different cultures was both...show more content... The definition of the action to assimilate according to Merriam Webster is "to absorb into the cultural tradition of a population or group". But in the case of the Native Americans their assimilation was much more forced. The kids were taken off into boarding schools that taught them how to become like the white people or the settlers, during this they lost a majority of their culture and background, relationships with family, and even their language because whenever they tried to speak their native tongue they were beaten and punished. Each child was given a new name according to the English culture along with learning English, and even dressing like they would. These were just three of the many factors that played into the conflict between the Native Americans and the Settlers. Out of these three factors I believe that assimilation is the most important factor. I think that this is so because when the settlers attempted to assimilate the Indians the first time a major event that happened was the Whitman Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Overcome Conflict People face conflict every day of their lives and, most often, many different types of conflict in one day. Conflict is something that causes anxiety and fear and most often is something people want to avoid if they can. The good thing about conflict is that is forces a person to focus on the skills they have to find a solution that makes them feel good inside. How people respond to conflict depends on their understanding of the problem facing them, deciding to overcome the challenge successfully and then using brainstorming and decision making skills to actually implement a plan to overcome the conflict they are facing. Claim? All conflict situations are based upon facts and a truth. Conflicts are supported by the relationship between causes and effect; a person can usually determine very easily the outcome of every conflict if certain decision is made in how to solve the conflict. For example, a student has been invited to attend an event on the same night he knows he should study for a test. The student knows he does not know the test subject well and therefore knows he will not do well on the test if he does not study. The cause of the conflict is the test; the effect of not studying for the test is most likely going to be the student getting a poor grade on the test. The logic is very simple in this example. The student can easily foresee what will happen if he chooses not to study for the test. Conflict often have a simple truth...show more content... N.p., n.d. Web. 26 Jan. 2016. Hereford, Zorka. • 14. Reflection On Conflict In this paper I will describe a conflict that has occurred in my life. It had a huge impact on my second year of college and even today things still pop up from it, because I still run into each of these girls. In this particular conflict between my old roommates we will review a course concept involving the four phases of conflict escalation. Starting with phase one, a perceived threat to someone, followed by defensiveness, then stonewalling, and lastly contempt. After the conflict occurs, one of the parties' uses the course concept of face saving by portraying something that is not really her true feeling. In order to overcome this conflict, I will discuss how the parties need to mediate and learn to communicate efficiently, as well as listen to each other more. The course concept I will use to help solve the conflict is a facultative method with a third party intervention. I am also hoping to make a facilitating reappraisal, where it might be possible to reframe the conflict. While discussing facilitating reappraisal we will dig deeper into discussing third party intervention, which I believe both parties may need. My rationale for this particular choice of conflict is based on the horrible living experience I went through last year. After the conflict, my roommates continued to struggle to get along and would argue over little things, when there seemed to be something deeper. It bothered me for a long time because it also impacted me. Our first year of living together everything went well, however it all started when our lease came to an end so we were going to have to resign. So my roommates and I ended up picking a different town house in the same apartment complex because it was bigger. The week before it came time to sign Kaia had said that she wanted a room on the third floor. Beth at some point in time had said she wanted a room with a window since the previous year she had not had one. Well, a week went by and the last day to sign was here. However, Kaia got up that morning and went ahead and signed because she was going to be gone all day bridesmaid shopping for her sister. When Beth went up to sign later she was upset because she had apparently wanted the third floor with the window and didn't Get more content on HelpWriting.net
