What Is Self Discipline Essay
We already know that self discipline is important, but do we really need it?
We know about success tools, and we familiarize ourselves with many useful resources that lead us to success, so why do we need self discipline?
We all have goals for many areas of our lives. Some of uswant successful relationships, some like to get more money, others want simply happiness in
their lives and others seek better health with less weight. These are common goals, and we sometimes fail or succeed in achieving them. The general
question is: Why we don't achieve those goals? Why we don't become successful in these goals?
The general answer is: Lack of self discipline.
Success needs time. It does not happen at once. What you do today will determine the results in your future. If you change your present, you change
your future. If you eat a lot of pizzas and delicious food today, you will gain weight, and this will show in your future weight. If you spend more
money than what you earn today, you will have less money in the future.
Present steps determine future results.

We also know that successful persons became successful just by following these laws. Many experts studied successful people for many years and
wrote many rich & useful books about them. One top expert in this field, Brian Tracy, claims that one main skill that youneed to achieve success is the
resource of self discipline. You may know many laws of success, and you may have a map for your goals, but this map will not work if you do not
exercise self control for your goals. It is a fact that 97% of people do not write their goals, and this by itself is a major obstacle to success, but
simply by writing the goals is not enough unless it is combined with self discipline. It is your practical map for success. It is your actual pragmatic
steps that lead you to translating your goals into

Virtue: Self-Discipline
Virtue #1: Self– Discipline
...Defining Self–Discipline... Self–Discipline, basically, is the ability to discipline oneself. A self–disciplined person can do what needs to be done and
get by distractions. He has focus and does not stray away from his main goal. He can find his own faults and weaknesses, and can improve himself
based on that. Instead of acting irrationally and on instinct, a person who has self–discipline can stop himself and think about a rational decision.
...Its Importance... *You will always stay focused, therefore work is easier and done in a shorter time span. *Misunderstandings can be avoided
because every word a self–disciplined person communicates is well–thought out. *This virtue is essential in the improvement of oneself, because once
you accept that these weaknesses are a part of you, you can find a way to fix them. *This is important in...show more content...
If you see a good future, you will work hard for it, and ultimately, will achieve it.*Optimism can change your perspective on life. If before, you had a
pessimistic outlook, believing that everything you do just goes to waste, having optimism can make you a more productive and happier person,
benefiting yourself, your family, and your community. *With optimism, people can achieve higher and better things. This is because you don't think
that what you can do is limited, so you break boundaries and soar higher. ...Optimism in Practice... *When life knocks you down, choose to get back
up. There's always a second chance, and you have to believe that you can do it. *Don't reject ideas just because they are "unrealistic". You can make
that happen in the future, so don't stop yourself from innovating.
Think of the glass as half–full, not half–empty. There are always different perspectives on a situation, and you just have to choose the one that you can

Letter on Self-Discipline
Hey Jack! Your principal speaks very highly of you! He says you are a special kid and sees a lot of potential in you. I am just starting my career as
a professional chef, and the principal asked me to talk to you because you might also be interested in following in this path. The principal also
knows that you and I have a lot in common. He also said that like me, you might be interested in going into the armed forces for a few years so that
your college tuition would be easier for you to handle. I think that is a great idea and I hope that I can encourage you to pursue your dreams. Even if
you forget everything that I tell you, I hope that you can remember the three most important things. I had to learn these things the hard way I hope you
don't. The three most important things I think you need to know are: choose your friends wisely, stay healthy, and have self–discipline. First, it's really
important to surround yourself with good, positive people. Ask yourself who your true friends are the people who genuinely care about you. When
was the last time your friends were there for you, as opposed to using you to get something they want? Get rid of anyone who you does not care
about you. Look, sometimes your friends choose you. I know that. The kids I grew up with, for example, they were like family to me. When they
started getting into drugs and bad behavior, I followed along because, well you know, they were my buddies! It took a lot of pain and hard work to
realize that

Importance Of Self Discipline Essay
Various morals and values are prominent in today's society. One value that dominates in my life and constantly promotes itself is self–discipline.
Self–discipline can be defined in many ways, as such my own definition is that self–discipline includes a continuously changing and evolving personal
improvement and values build from ourselves and others. This value involves my strong willed and structured inner self persistently in pursuit of what
I believe to be right despite external and internal temptations to abandon my own value. An individual practicing the value of self–discipline can be
seen consistently in various forms throughout the day. Their actions and choices they make can be observed to easily show a true self–disciplined

A benefit of this, persons demonstrating proper self–discipline consistently are evolving in their beliefs while staying true to their own allowing them
to continuously better themselves as individuals and prominent self–disciplined members in society. As I have grown an developed, the value of
self–discipline has been taught to me in various ways by a multitude of people. Everyone I come into contact with will affect my self–discipline in
some way, whether that be beneficial or negative. Throughout my childhood, certain values of self–discipline were taught to me by my parents and
relatives such as dependance on yourself rather than on others. They taught me to have stronger self–reliance in myself. Next, I found that friends
schooling system helped to teach me during my adolescence the aspect of properly expressing emotions. I learned that emotions were an okay feeling
to release and that they should never be forever contained inside ourselves. Finally, I was taught self–discipline with my social interactions with society
and most importantly I was self–taught. Throughout numerous failures and struggles at maintaining self–discipline, I found that with the slight
influence of others that no one is superior at teaching me this moral than myself. With trial and error, I found that allowing myself to accept my faults
while continuing to improve myself that I could achieve more than initially thought. As a child,

ESSAY 5:
"THE FIRST DAWNING OF SELF–DISCIPLINE COMES THROUGH WORK". DISCUSS THIS STATEMENT.
Montessori believed that inner discipline, or self–discipline, is an active skill which is developed over time within each child, and is not something that
pre–exists. She held it to be a natural part of the normal progression and growth of the child, but nevertheless, something that must be nurtured in the
right way in order for it to develop fully. In her view, every child is born with the innate ability and desire to develop himself and his self–discipline, in
a constructive manner, through work and under gentle guidance which nevertheless allows the child freedom to interact in his environment.
Through her observations, Montessori noted...show more content...
As the child continues to act deliberately in his environment, his will and self–discipline grow stronger, as he adapts and restricts himself to his chosen
task, and "by repeating an action they have chosen, they develop an awareness of their actions"(Montessori, The Absorbent Mind, p.231). At this stage,
in line with the general lack of order and structure in his mind, the self–discipline is not consistent, and one often finds that a task that held a child's
attention to completion and perfection on one occasion, may not be able to be completed the next.
In the second stage of development of the will, the child's powers of concentration have increased, and this has allowed him to gain further
independence and power over himself. The child can now make conscious decisions about what to do, based on experience and not just impulse.
Through this free activity, the child's spirit is awakened, and his will is able to be cultivated through this conscious development and sensorial activity.
The child actively chooses his tasks and uses his creative abilities in a practical and reality–based fashion leading to an independence of thought and
action. This teaches him to accept responsibility for his task, and to have an active self–discipline. As Montessori writes, "the discipline we are looking
for is an active one. We do not

Essay The Consequences of Lack of Self Discipline
The Consequences of Lack of Self Discipline
Here I am going to look at the police service and investigate how members of this service could bring the force to disrepute by not having sufficient
self discipline and behaving in an inadequate way. Such behaviours could have terrible consequences. I shall be talking about the following
consequences:
Y Consequences involving members of the public
Y Consequences affecting members of that public service
Y Consequences involving the force
Consequences involving members of the public:
Members of the police force behaving inappropriately can lead to a member of the public suffering negative consequences.

This would affect the morale of the team as they would feel frustrated about the events that had taken place and they would loose trust in one another.
Consequences involving the force:
I shall now give two examples of situations which can affect the police force as a whole:
– If when making an arrest a group of officers used excessive force and the subject sustained serious injuries, then turns out to be innocent. The subject
would quite rightly be unhappy about the situation and would sue the force and receive compensation.
– Police officers carrying out a 'stop and search' without lawful reasons bring the police into disrepute, as it can then be assumed by people that this
'stop and search' was carried out because of a stereotype towards that person, this could be because of their race, age, or because of the way in which
that person is dressed.
Incidents like the ones I have written about have serious consequences in the ways society view the police force. The public would loose respect for
the force, and therefore loose part of the authority they have which in turn would make policing in the area harder.
Self discipline:
It is important that a good level of self discipline is maintained. This

Why Self Discipline Is Better Than Motivation?
Many will say that inspiration is not a big deal with being motivated because self discipline is really all you need; but in fact that isn't true. For
example, self discipline helps you maintained the thrive of being motivated. Plus, it can also be useful for self control because self discipline shows a
sign of inner strength which it has the ability to control yourself, your actions, and your reactions. In the article of "Why Self Discipline is Better than
Motivation", it stated, " Discipline inculcates some great value in you, that are of paramount importance if you want to be productive, like: it will give
you self confidence and will have self control." It means that discipline teaches you great values that can be important if you want to use it in your
daily life. Self discipline also gives you the endowment to your decisions and follow them through without changing your mind, and it can also help
you overcome addictions, procrastination, and laziness which helps you follow through with whatever you want to do. Therefore, it is one of the
important requirements for achieving goals. But even though having self discipline can go on with being motivated, inspirations is more powerful than
self discipline.
Having many inspirations with in oneself is more powerful than self discipline because it takes a person from apathy to the feeling of possibilities and
altered it to our capabilities. In the article, "Why inspiration matters", Scott Barry Kaufman acknowledges that

Teenagers Today Lack Moral Values and Self
–Discipline
Moral values and graciousness, in the past, were prominent in most teenagers. Majority of the youths then learnt respect, courtesy, consideration,
decency, propriety, honesty and righteousness from a young age, and had enough self–discipline to hold to these values. However, these moral values
and self–discipline are slowly diminishing over the years, as most of the younger generation are gradually disregarding these ethics. The listed values
have slowly faded away, as they mean little to these adolescents, as moral values and self–discipline are on the verge of disappearing.
This lack of self–discipline and self–control is becoming more and...show more content...
One reason for this is that many teenagers lack the self–discipline to resist the temptation, and their raging hormones overpower their ethics. This lack
in self–control in resisting their impulses leads to pre–marital sex. Another reason is that many teenagers lack the courage or self–discipline to stop
themselves from breaking under peer pressure. Thus, when lead on, they are unable to say 'no' to their boyfriends of girlfriends. Under western
influence, subjects such as sex are no longer considered taboo. Therefore, youths feel that it is thus okay for them to be promiscuous, which is a clear
lack of principles.
Another lack of propriety can be seen in the fact that the multitude of juveniles today are turning to less ethical forms of activities. Some such examples
are drugs, smoking, drinking and shoplifting. As the younger generation is becoming more and more materialistic, numerous teenagers are slowly
putting aside their morality to make way for their desires. Thus, actions such as shoplifting are not uncommon anymore. These young adults have
strong desires for material objects, which drive them lose control of their impulses to get what they want. The apparent lack of morality and
self–discipline leads to teens failing to stop themselves from committing crimes. Furthermore, drugs, smoking and drinking are unethical activities that
can prove to be harmful to

Importance Of Self Discipline
The art of self–discipline is one of the best gifts that you could ever give to yourself. Acquiring the ability to say "no" to yourself is a very crucial
step toward becoming a stronger, wiser, and more mature individual. Of course, self–discipline is not always easy but there are lots of benefits that
come when you are able to master this art of personal control: – Self–discipline can not only aid you in reaching your goals but also your dreams. So
often we have to sacrifice time, money, energy, etc. in order to reach the goals that we have in place for ourselves. Are you prepared to have this
commitment? – Self–discipline also aids you in accomplishing more. When you eliminate the things that waste your time throughout the day you are
able to accomplish so much more and therefore reach your goals sooner rather than later. If you lack the self–discipline to stick to a task you will be
distracted by other unimportant things. Are you prepared to do away with distractions? – Self–discipline helps you have more focus. When you shut
out those things that distract you from what you need to do you are more able to focus on those things that are of importance. Understand that it is
impossible to always say "yes" to everything and everyone. There are times when you need to concentrate on one thing and do it properly. It is all but
impossible to truly focus when you lack self–discipline. Likewise, the goals you have set are practically impossible to attain when you lack focus. Are
you prepared to focus on achieving your goals? The keys to self–discipline are easy. When you commit to someone honor your commitment. If you
commit to yourself stay committed totally! When you do break a commitment you made to yourself understand that you are human. Prioritize your
commitments that you make to yourself the same way you do regarding others. With self–discipline comes self–respect. You cannot live the life you
want if you do not care for yourself. Honor all parts of you: 1. Respect your body. When your body sends signals to pay attention to them. You are a
design masterpiece and your body is able to let you know when something isn't quite right. Take note of what your body says and give yourself VIP
treatment so that you can

The Theory Of Self Disciplined Approach
Introduction The self disciplined approach is a valuable contribution to the global ethics. This can help to achieve good work place ethics. It is
revealed that self discipline can motivate a person to make good choices. This assists a person to do the things ethically correct. It also makes a
person more accountable for actions. The self discipline practice is a rigorous practice but it is very important for the ethics management. If the person
is willing to eliminate harmful habits, certainly the ethical practices can be implemented easily. This self disciplined approach can be helpful for a
person to take action against any unlawful and unethical practice for completing the tasks. The person can sustain the peer pressure for managing
ethics and will not compromise with moral principles. The activities chosen by me are attending three yoga classes at a studio, eating healthy foods
for one week and abstaining from meat for self. The reasons are illustrated. The yoga classes can bring in very good results in perspective of
maintaining health. Yoga and its cleansing practices can be immensely helpful in effective treatments for various disorders. Yoga is found very
effective in increasing flexibility in body. There are many position that stretch body and beneficial for various physical joints of the body. Yoga can
increase the lubrication of ligaments, joints and tendons. The body starts feeling very flexible. Yoga can help to message all organs of body. Yoga also

Self Discipline, Hard Work, And Drive
Self–discipline, hard work, and drive have all led me to where I currently am. I am grateful and proud to be the first person in my family to pursue a
master's degree. My parents migrated from Mexico with little advanced education and were able to establish a successful business to provide a great
life for my siblings and me. My parents showed me that through hard work and determination one could prosper despite the odds. These values have
been instilled in me and in everything I do, whether in work, academics, relationships, sports, or internships; I stay dedicated and involve myself in
various organizations while managing a full–time school workload. Through experience, I have noticed that I work better under pressure and while
multitasking.
Not only did I learn a lot from my parents, but I also started gaining an interest for all aspects of the criminal justice system and found my passion
through listening to their experiences. It began originally with immigration and the opportunities for growth in the United States that other countries
do not have to offer. While I was in high school, I debated greatly entering the military, but decided against it and instead reached for a higher
education. Initially, when I decided to study criminal justice, it was because I was interested in working as a special agent for the FBI. After taking a
multitude of classes in diverse subjects like juvenile justice, penal policies, immigration and identity, and much more I realized that I

Persuasive Essay About Self Discipline
Everybody at some point in their life has wanted to make a change, hopefully for the better. For most, it can take some serious self discipline to
actually put these changes into full force. Here's a proposition: take the time out of the day to sit down and actually think about the outcomes of the
problem, and then decide if it's worth going through the motions to make that change. Because everyone on this earth has a given amount of time
everyday, no one can use the excuse that they don't have the time of day; that's bullshit. Yes, some may have a busy schedule but you have breaks
throughout the day. May it be the required break they get from work, the commute from school to home, or when they're alone with their thoughts at
night;...show more content...
They should've known that they weren't truly alone, since the individual has been there for them always, but they really must've to think that their best
friend wouldn't been with them the one time. The minute the individual found out about their friend's death, they started to crash and burn, tearing
themselves apart, blaming themselves, saying that it's their fault that they couldn't save you since they didn't know. Their mental and physical state
started to deplete and they've become accustomed to the numbness that has spread throughout their body. They start to eat unhealthily and just stop
working out all together. Minor health problems start to invade their system, they get sick more easily than before and just wait until it surpases. It gets
to the point where they've been dealing with so much numbing pain that they, themselves, start to contemplate the same thoughts their friend was
thinking years back. They have the mindset that, they'll be reunited with their best friend if they were to meet the same fate. Eventually, they will, but
they're thinking about meeting that fate sooner rather than later. But they don't want to really do this, they want to get better, but the rut they've
created is so coarse and rugged that it'll be difficult to fix those problems. First off, the individual finally decides to go through with

Essay On Self Discipline
The self–discipline required to be an academically successful college student is at a much higher level than that of the required self–discipline of a high
school student. Fortunately, I attended a private Catholic high school that prepares its students very well for college. The age gap between a senior in
high school and a college freshman may only be a few months to a year, but the way they are treated is the comparison of a baby to an adult. College
professors try very hard to instruct the students but they realize that it is up to the students to put in the efforts to achieve success. The student's
amount of effort will determine how much is learned or how little is learned in a class. The atmosphere of high school is much...show more content...
The students are on a very time oriented schedule. Schedules are the same each day and if a student does not make it to class on time or come at
all, these mistakes are sometimes punishable. In college, if someone is late to classes or do not show up at all, the student misses out and grades
will suffer. Professors more or less do not care if a student show up or not. In the end, not showing up only effects the student. If you fall behind in a
class because you have poor attendance they consider it unfortunate and expect the student to find a way to catch up on work. Faculty will rarely tell
students to come to class. The schedule may be different for each day of the week and a student is expected to be responsible enough to keep up with
the schedule and all of the classwork.
While in high school, the goal is to receive a general understanding of different subjects so when you enroll in college, you will be able to narrow
down your interests. A college curriculum may differentiate greatly from a high school curriculum. When in college, most students have a general
understanding of what they might like to focus on as a potential career so their courses reflect that. Some college students might have absolutely no
idea what they want to do, but that is okay.
In high school, all students take similar general classes like English, math, history, and science. Of course, there are always different variations of
classes that

Speech On Self Discipline
Many of us associate the terms self discipline with images ranging from a grocery list to managing a giant construction project to memories of
Mom and Dad trying to get us to conform to the norms of society. But what is self discipline really? And how does it relate to success? Why do so
many of us perceive self discipline as something to be avoided, as if it was some kind of threat? A threat to what? Is there a part of us that suspects
something that another part of us doesn't want to know about?
Aside from the whole multiple personality disorder aspect of these questions, if you go out on the street and ask people at random what they think
self discipline is you are likely to get a stunning array of answers that reflect a broad range of perceptions of this concept. I believe that part of the
reason why we respond to these terms in negative ways is that back when we were young and society was trying to get us to go along with its
program, they used the concept of self discipline to disguise the real process that was going on, which was more about social, economic and political
indoctrination. After all, the system has to have drones.
Mind, Focus And Attention
Cynical perspectives aside, there is something of genuine value here and to discover it we need to take a closer look at just what self discipline might
actually be. One of the definitions of discipline in the dictionary is 'training that develops self control'. Training uses the power of conditioning to
achieve its

Employee Discipline Essay
Employee discipline is a concept that could automatically set a negative tone in the workplace. Ideally in a perfect world the workplace would be
conflict free and every employee would be the perfect employee. However, unfortunately there probably is not a thing as perfect world. Employee
discipline method that can be used by organizational leaders on trying to utilize various methods to help promote and encourage orderly conduct in the
workplace. According to Zachary (2013), an organization should have the proper systems in place that helps to encourage proper behavior in the
workplace. The right methods to be used to change that behavior if it negatively impacts the organization. In situations where discipline is required the
HR perspective would be the type of "punishment" that might have to be administered by HR managers this could often times be unpleasant for both
the administrator and the employee. Whether it is dismissing the employee. Perhaps suspending the employee. Even just a written warning. Regardless
of the intensity of the punishment it requires that leadership utilize the right methods to help ensure that minimum fallout transpires from the discipline
that is used. When an employee experiences separation from an organization it does not necessary mean that it is all due to poor behavior on the part
of the employee. According to Kemery, Dunlap, and Bedelan, (1989) separation could involve various forms such as lay–off, discharge, resignation,
suspension.

Speech On Self Discipline
Have you ever wondered how other people seem to achieve more but yet you work just as hard? Have you ever wondered how others seem to be
more successful and you know that you are just as intelligent, just as capable but yet for some reason you aren't doing as well? There could be one
key ingredient that you are missing to achieving your goals. It is an ingredient that is often taken for granted and overlooked because it is so
simple and that is "self discipline". What is self discipline? It is the ability to do what you should do when you should do it whether you feel like it
or not. This is a quality you need to posses while on your journey to reaching your destination. Without it, you will struggle in reaching your goal.
What has been holding you back? Before you can begin thinking about how to improve your self discipline, you need ask yourself what has been
holding you back. This will give you a better idea of your thought processes, your beliefs, your behaviours and what action you can take to
empower yourself to make positive changes. So here are some questions I would like you to consider: 1.Why aren't you as successful as you
would like to be? 2.What beliefs do you think have been disempowering you? and 3.What behaviours do you think you could improve on? Here are
some other questions to consider? Do you make excuses or procrastinate? Are unclear and aren't sure of what you really want? Do you think you
deserve those rewards or are you unconsciously sabotaging your potential to achieve your goals? Is there some part of you that believes you aren't
capable? Or maybe all of the above are just excuses. Here is a secret to making that big change in your life... stop making excuses. You can either
have REASONS or you can have RESULTS! Which one do you chose? Are you clear on what you want? Before we start planning on what actions
we can take to move in the right direction, we need to be clear on what that direction is, therefore it is imperative that you understand what success
means to you. Everyone has their own definition of success and it doesn't make you right or wrong. It is what works for you and is based on your
values. Is it about living up to your own expectations not someone else's?

Importance of Self-Discipline

  • 1. What Is Self Discipline Essay We already know that self discipline is important, but do we really need it? We know about success tools, and we familiarize ourselves with many useful resources that lead us to success, so why do we need self discipline? We all have goals for many areas of our lives. Some of uswant successful relationships, some like to get more money, others want simply happiness in their lives and others seek better health with less weight. These are common goals, and we sometimes fail or succeed in achieving them. The general question is: Why we don't achieve those goals? Why we don't become successful in these goals? The general answer is: Lack of self discipline. Success needs time. It does not happen at once. What you do today will determine the results in your future. If you change your present, you change your future. If you eat a lot of pizzas and delicious food today, you will gain weight, and this will show in your future weight. If you spend more money than what you earn today, you will have less money in the future. Present steps determine future results. Self discipline takes place in your present which will lead to your future....show more content... We also know that successful persons became successful just by following these laws. Many experts studied successful people for many years and wrote many rich & useful books about them. One top expert in this field, Brian Tracy, claims that one main skill that youneed to achieve success is the resource of self discipline. You may know many laws of success, and you may have a map for your goals, but this map will not work if you do not exercise self control for your goals. It is a fact that 97% of people do not write their goals, and this by itself is a major obstacle to success, but simply by writing the goals is not enough unless it is combined with self discipline. It is your practical map for success. It is your actual pragmatic steps that lead you to translating your goals into

  • 3. Virtue: Self-Discipline Virtue #1: Self– Discipline ...Defining Self–Discipline... Self–Discipline, basically, is the ability to discipline oneself. A self–disciplined person can do what needs to be done and get by distractions. He has focus and does not stray away from his main goal. He can find his own faults and weaknesses, and can improve himself based on that. Instead of acting irrationally and on instinct, a person who has self–discipline can stop himself and think about a rational decision. ...Its Importance... *You will always stay focused, therefore work is easier and done in a shorter time span. *Misunderstandings can be avoided because every word a self–disciplined person communicates is well–thought out. *This virtue is essential in the improvement of oneself, because once you accept that these weaknesses are a part of you, you can find a way to fix them. *This is important in...show more content... If you see a good future, you will work hard for it, and ultimately, will achieve it.*Optimism can change your perspective on life. If before, you had a pessimistic outlook, believing that everything you do just goes to waste, having optimism can make you a more productive and happier person, benefiting yourself, your family, and your community. *With optimism, people can achieve higher and better things. This is because you don't think that what you can do is limited, so you break boundaries and soar higher. ...Optimism in Practice... *When life knocks you down, choose to get back up. There's always a second chance, and you have to believe that you can do it. *Don't reject ideas just because they are "unrealistic". You can make that happen in the future, so don't stop yourself from innovating. Think of the glass as half–full, not half–empty. There are always different perspectives on a situation, and you just have to choose the one that you can work with and turn into a better Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Letter on Self-Discipline Hey Jack! Your principal speaks very highly of you! He says you are a special kid and sees a lot of potential in you. I am just starting my career as a professional chef, and the principal asked me to talk to you because you might also be interested in following in this path. The principal also knows that you and I have a lot in common. He also said that like me, you might be interested in going into the armed forces for a few years so that your college tuition would be easier for you to handle. I think that is a great idea and I hope that I can encourage you to pursue your dreams. Even if you forget everything that I tell you, I hope that you can remember the three most important things. I had to learn these things the hard way I hope you don't. The three most important things I think you need to know are: choose your friends wisely, stay healthy, and have self–discipline. First, it's really important to surround yourself with good, positive people. Ask yourself who your true friends are the people who genuinely care about you. When was the last time your friends were there for you, as opposed to using you to get something they want? Get rid of anyone who you does not care about you. Look, sometimes your friends choose you. I know that. The kids I grew up with, for example, they were like family to me. When they started getting into drugs and bad behavior, I followed along because, well you know, they were my buddies! It took a lot of pain and hard work to realize that Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 6. Importance Of Self Discipline Essay Various morals and values are prominent in today's society. One value that dominates in my life and constantly promotes itself is self–discipline. Self–discipline can be defined in many ways, as such my own definition is that self–discipline includes a continuously changing and evolving personal improvement and values build from ourselves and others. This value involves my strong willed and structured inner self persistently in pursuit of what I believe to be right despite external and internal temptations to abandon my own value. An individual practicing the value of self–discipline can be seen consistently in various forms throughout the day. Their actions and choices they make can be observed to easily show a true self–disciplined ...show more content... A benefit of this, persons demonstrating proper self–discipline consistently are evolving in their beliefs while staying true to their own allowing them to continuously better themselves as individuals and prominent self–disciplined members in society. As I have grown an developed, the value of self–discipline has been taught to me in various ways by a multitude of people. Everyone I come into contact with will affect my self–discipline in some way, whether that be beneficial or negative. Throughout my childhood, certain values of self–discipline were taught to me by my parents and relatives such as dependance on yourself rather than on others. They taught me to have stronger self–reliance in myself. Next, I found that friends schooling system helped to teach me during my adolescence the aspect of properly expressing emotions. I learned that emotions were an okay feeling to release and that they should never be forever contained inside ourselves. Finally, I was taught self–discipline with my social interactions with society and most importantly I was self–taught. Throughout numerous failures and struggles at maintaining self–discipline, I found that with the slight influence of others that no one is superior at teaching me this moral than myself. With trial and error, I found that allowing myself to accept my faults while continuing to improve myself that I could achieve more than initially thought. • 7. ESSAY 5: "THE FIRST DAWNING OF SELF–DISCIPLINE COMES THROUGH WORK". DISCUSS THIS STATEMENT. Montessori believed that inner discipline, or self–discipline, is an active skill which is developed over time within each child, and is not something that pre–exists. She held it to be a natural part of the normal progression and growth of the child, but nevertheless, something that must be nurtured in the right way in order for it to develop fully. In her view, every child is born with the innate ability and desire to develop himself and his self–discipline, in a constructive manner, through work and under gentle guidance which nevertheless allows the child freedom to interact in his environment. Through her observations, Montessori noted...show more content... As the child continues to act deliberately in his environment, his will and self–discipline grow stronger, as he adapts and restricts himself to his chosen task, and "by repeating an action they have chosen, they develop an awareness of their actions"(Montessori, The Absorbent Mind, p.231). At this stage, in line with the general lack of order and structure in his mind, the self–discipline is not consistent, and one often finds that a task that held a child's attention to completion and perfection on one occasion, may not be able to be completed the next. In the second stage of development of the will, the child's powers of concentration have increased, and this has allowed him to gain further independence and power over himself. The child can now make conscious decisions about what to do, based on experience and not just impulse. Through this free activity, the child's spirit is awakened, and his will is able to be cultivated through this conscious development and sensorial activity. The child actively chooses his tasks and uses his creative abilities in a practical and reality–based fashion leading to an independence of thought and action. This teaches him to accept responsibility for his task, and to have an active self–discipline. As Montessori writes, "the discipline we are looking for is an active one. Essay The Consequences of Lack of Self Discipline The Consequences of Lack of Self Discipline Here I am going to look at the police service and investigate how members of this service could bring the force to disrepute by not having sufficient self discipline and behaving in an inadequate way. Such behaviours could have terrible consequences. I shall be talking about the following consequences: Y Consequences involving members of the public Y Consequences affecting members of that public service Y Consequences involving the force Consequences involving members of the public: Members of the police force behaving inappropriately can lead to a member of the public suffering negative consequences. This would affect the morale of the team as they would feel frustrated about the events that had taken place and they would loose trust in one another. Consequences involving the force: I shall now give two examples of situations which can affect the police force as a whole: – If when making an arrest a group of officers used excessive force and the subject sustained serious injuries, then turns out to be innocent. The subject would quite rightly be unhappy about the situation and would sue the force and receive compensation.
  • 9. – Police officers carrying out a 'stop and search' without lawful reasons bring the police into disrepute, as it can then be assumed by people that this 'stop and search' was carried out because of a stereotype towards that person, this could be because of their race, age, or because of the way in which that person is dressed. Incidents like the ones I have written about have serious consequences in the ways society view the police force. The public would loose respect for the force, and therefore loose part of the authority they have which in turn would make policing in the area harder. • 10. Why Self Discipline Is Better Than Motivation? Many will say that inspiration is not a big deal with being motivated because self discipline is really all you need; but in fact that isn't true. For example, self discipline helps you maintained the thrive of being motivated. Plus, it can also be useful for self control because self discipline shows a sign of inner strength which it has the ability to control yourself, your actions, and your reactions. In the article of "Why Self Discipline is Better than Motivation", it stated, " Discipline inculcates some great value in you, that are of paramount importance if you want to be productive, like: it will give you self confidence and will have self control." It means that discipline teaches you great values that can be important if you want to use it in your daily life. Self discipline also gives you the endowment to your decisions and follow them through without changing your mind, and it can also help you overcome addictions, procrastination, and laziness which helps you follow through with whatever you want to do. Therefore, it is one of the important requirements for achieving goals. But even though having self discipline can go on with being motivated, inspirations is more powerful than self discipline. Having many inspirations with in oneself is more powerful than self discipline because it takes a person from apathy to the feeling of possibilities and altered it to our capabilities. • 11. Teenagers Today Lack Moral Values and Self –Discipline Moral values and graciousness, in the past, were prominent in most teenagers. Majority of the youths then learnt respect, courtesy, consideration, decency, propriety, honesty and righteousness from a young age, and had enough self–discipline to hold to these values. However, these moral values and self–discipline are slowly diminishing over the years, as most of the younger generation are gradually disregarding these ethics. The listed values have slowly faded away, as they mean little to these adolescents, as moral values and self–discipline are on the verge of disappearing. This lack of self–discipline and self–control is becoming more and...show more content... One reason for this is that many teenagers lack the self–discipline to resist the temptation, and their raging hormones overpower their ethics. This lack in self–control in resisting their impulses leads to pre–marital sex. Another reason is that many teenagers lack the courage or self–discipline to stop themselves from breaking under peer pressure. Thus, when lead on, they are unable to say 'no' to their boyfriends of girlfriends. Under western influence, subjects such as sex are no longer considered taboo. Therefore, youths feel that it is thus okay for them to be promiscuous, which is a clear lack of principles. Another lack of propriety can be seen in the fact that the multitude of juveniles today are turning to less ethical forms of activities. Some such examples are drugs, smoking, drinking and shoplifting. As the younger generation is becoming more and more materialistic, numerous teenagers are slowly putting aside their morality to make way for their desires. Thus, actions such as shoplifting are not uncommon anymore. These young adults have strong desires for material objects, which drive them lose control of their impulses to get what they want. The apparent lack of morality and self–discipline leads to teens failing to stop themselves from committing crimes. • 12. Importance Of Self Discipline The art of self–discipline is one of the best gifts that you could ever give to yourself. Acquiring the ability to say "no" to yourself is a very crucial step toward becoming a stronger, wiser, and more mature individual. Of course, self–discipline is not always easy but there are lots of benefits that come when you are able to master this art of personal control: – Self–discipline can not only aid you in reaching your goals but also your dreams. So often we have to sacrifice time, money, energy, etc. in order to reach the goals that we have in place for ourselves. Are you prepared to have this commitment? – Self–discipline also aids you in accomplishing more. When you eliminate the things that waste your time throughout the day you are able to accomplish so much more and therefore reach your goals sooner rather than later. If you lack the self–discipline to stick to a task you will be distracted by other unimportant things. Are you prepared to do away with distractions? – Self–discipline helps you have more focus. When you shut out those things that distract you from what you need to do you are more able to focus on those things that are of importance. Understand that it is impossible to always say "yes" to everything and everyone. There are times when you need to concentrate on one thing and do it properly. It is all but impossible to truly focus when you lack self–discipline. Likewise, the goals you have set are practically impossible to attain when you lack focus. Are you prepared to focus on achieving your goals? The keys to self–discipline are easy. When you commit to someone honor your commitment. If you commit to yourself stay committed totally! When you do break a commitment you made to yourself understand that you are human. Prioritize your commitments that you make to yourself the same way you do regarding others. With self–discipline comes self–respect. You cannot live the life you want if you do not care for yourself. Honor all parts of you: 1. Respect your body. When your body sends signals to pay attention to them. You are a design masterpiece and your body is able to let you know when something isn't quite right. Take note of what your body says and give yourself VIP treatment so that you can Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 14. Self Discipline, Hard Work, And Drive Self–discipline, hard work, and drive have all led me to where I currently am. I am grateful and proud to be the first person in my family to pursue a master's degree. My parents migrated from Mexico with little advanced education and were able to establish a successful business to provide a great life for my siblings and me. My parents showed me that through hard work and determination one could prosper despite the odds. These values have been instilled in me and in everything I do, whether in work, academics, relationships, sports, or internships; I stay dedicated and involve myself in various organizations while managing a full–time school workload. Through experience, I have noticed that I work better under pressure and while multitasking. Not only did I learn a lot from my parents, but I also started gaining an interest for all aspects of the criminal justice system and found my passion through listening to their experiences. It began originally with immigration and the opportunities for growth in the United States that other countries do not have to offer. While I was in high school, I debated greatly entering the military, but decided against it and instead reached for a higher education. Initially, when I decided to study criminal justice, it was because I was interested in working as a special agent for the FBI. After taking a multitude of classes in diverse subjects like juvenile justice, penal policies, immigration and identity, and much more I realized that I Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Persuasive Essay About Self Discipline Everybody at some point in their life has wanted to make a change, hopefully for the better. For most, it can take some serious self discipline to actually put these changes into full force. Here's a proposition: take the time out of the day to sit down and actually think about the outcomes of the problem, and then decide if it's worth going through the motions to make that change. Because everyone on this earth has a given amount of time everyday, no one can use the excuse that they don't have the time of day; that's bullshit. Yes, some may have a busy schedule but you have breaks throughout the day. May it be the required break they get from work, the commute from school to home, or when they're alone with their thoughts at night;...show more content... They should've known that they weren't truly alone, since the individual has been there for them always, but they really must've to think that their best friend wouldn't been with them the one time. The minute the individual found out about their friend's death, they started to crash and burn, tearing themselves apart, blaming themselves, saying that it's their fault that they couldn't save you since they didn't know. Their mental and physical state started to deplete and they've become accustomed to the numbness that has spread throughout their body. They start to eat unhealthily and just stop working out all together. Minor health problems start to invade their system, they get sick more easily than before and just wait until it surpases. It gets to the point where they've been dealing with so much numbing pain that they, themselves, start to contemplate the same thoughts their friend was thinking years back. They have the mindset that, they'll be reunited with their best friend if they were to meet the same fate. Eventually, they will, but they're thinking about meeting that fate sooner rather than later. But they don't want to really do this, they want to get better, but the rut they've created is so coarse and rugged that it'll be difficult to fix those problems. First off, the individual finally decides to go through with Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Essay On Self Discipline The self–discipline required to be an academically successful college student is at a much higher level than that of the required self–discipline of a high school student. Fortunately, I attended a private Catholic high school that prepares its students very well for college. The age gap between a senior in high school and a college freshman may only be a few months to a year, but the way they are treated is the comparison of a baby to an adult. College professors try very hard to instruct the students but they realize that it is up to the students to put in the efforts to achieve success. The student's amount of effort will determine how much is learned or how little is learned in a class. The atmosphere of high school is much...show more content... The students are on a very time oriented schedule. Schedules are the same each day and if a student does not make it to class on time or come at all, these mistakes are sometimes punishable. In college, if someone is late to classes or do not show up at all, the student misses out and grades will suffer. Professors more or less do not care if a student show up or not. In the end, not showing up only effects the student. If you fall behind in a class because you have poor attendance they consider it unfortunate and expect the student to find a way to catch up on work. Faculty will rarely tell students to come to class. The schedule may be different for each day of the week and a student is expected to be responsible enough to keep up with the schedule and all of the classwork. While in high school, the goal is to receive a general understanding of different subjects so when you enroll in college, you will be able to narrow down your interests. A college curriculum may differentiate greatly from a high school curriculum. When in college, most students have a general understanding of what they might like to focus on as a potential career so their courses reflect that. Some college students might have absolutely no idea what they want to do, but that is okay. In high school, all students take similar general classes like English, math, history, and science. Of course, there are always different variations of classes that Get more content on HelpWriting.net
