Districts and states provide student registration data (name, grade, date of
birth, etc.) before test day.
Saves time on test day because students no longer need to bubble in this
data on answer sheets.
Enables clean data and avoids potential student-gridded mistakes.

Labels start to arrive as early as September 13th.
Schools should affix labels to answer sheets prior to test day.

A few commonly asked questions about labels:
Q: What do I do if the label has incorrect information on it?
A: The data provided via bulk registration becomes part of the student’s record so it’s
important that it is correct. If a label has incorrect information, discard the label and have
the student fill in all fields on the answer sheet. HOWEVER: If address is the only
information that’s incorrect, the student should use that label. The student can update
his/her address online when they setup their account to view their scores.
Q: What is the sort group?
A: Sort group allows districts to indicate the order in which the labels are printed on the
label sheet. If districts don’t use this field, labels are sorted by grade level and last name.
Q: What do I do if I am missing a label for a student?
A: Have the student fill out all fields on the answer sheet, the ‘old fashioned’ way.

This slide and the next will be just for your own information… to provide you with insight into your district’s role in providing student data via bulk registration. The diagram above illustrates the bulk registration process and the role of each group.
To participate in bulk registration, districts/states are required to provide a minimum amount of student information (see fields in bold; AI Code, last name, first name, sex, date of birth and grade for example), but they may provide all of the data above (ethnicity, sort group, free and reduced lunch, etc.). The more data that is provided, the less students will need to grid in on their answer sheets. If you have any questions about these fields, more information is available on our website.
The labels themselves are sticky labels and will arrive on a sheet--think of Avery mailing labels. You can see an example label here. The labels should be affixed to the specified portion of the answer sheet.
Labels should be affixed to answer sheets before test day to allow you to focus on important tasks on test day. Also, it is very important that you do not use any labels that have incorrect information. If a label is incorrect, do not use the label and have the student grid in all the fields on the answer sheet.
Please note that the student ID on the label will only show the last 4 digits of a student’s ID number.
Please take a moment to look over these frequently asked questions.
This concludes all of the information about pre-test day and test day.
The data highlighted in yellow (AI_Code, AI_NAME, NAME_LAST, NAME_FIRST, NAME_MI, SEX, among others) could all be sourced from the bulk registration information your district provided.
Having the Student ID makes the process of incorporating this data into your information systems a lot easier. Your database administrators will thank you!
