2. BOTIZA, Maramureş
Botiza is the village of the commune with the
same name in Maramureş County,
Transylvania, Romania.
Situated at the foothills of theTibles
Mountains, the village is famous for wool rugs
with traditional, colorful motifs (using vegetal
pigments) and the wonderful popular harbor.
In recent years, agritourism has been
remarkable.
4. Wooden church in Botiza
At the end of the 19th century the old wooden
church in Botiza was replaced by the present
church, brought fromVişeu de Jos. It was built in
1699.The nave and the narthex have a
rectangular plan, the apse of the altar is cracked,
polygonal, and in the west there is an open
porch, wider than usual.The roof has a double
lap, the inner ridge being continuous around the
monument.The belfry tower, with the arbor and
the prolonged helmet, is above the pronaos.
