The Inter-American Conference on Social Security (CISS), the Universidad Iberoamericana
(IBERO), and the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) are
jointly organizing the conference "Public Policies to Micro and Small Enterprises". The main
aim of this conference is to help systematize and socialize the evidence in relation to institutions,
programs and tools to support the Micro and Small Enterprises, especially in the region of the
Americas.
We invite specialist on the topic to propose research papers that present evidence in some of the areas described in the document

The Inter-American Conference on Social Security (CISS), the Universidad Iberoamericana
(IBERO), and the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) are
jointly organizing the conference "Public Policies to Micro and Small Enterprises". The main
aim of this conference is to help systematize and socialize the evidence in relation to institutions,
programs and tools to support the Micro and Small Enterprises, especially in the region of the
Americas.
We invite specialist on the topic to propose research papers that present evidence in some of the
following areas (abstracts will not be accepted):
1. Evolution of the public policies to support Micro and Small Enterprises in relation to change
of strategies, programs and tools of support in the last decades. We also are interested in
papers that document national or sub-national experiences in the coordination of policies and
programs.
2. The design of public policies that support Micro and Small Enterprises in a broad context of
the economic policy, including commercial policies, financial regulation, macroeconomic
policies, and innovation policies, among others.
3. Experiences in design, operational and impact evaluation of programs that support Micro and
Small Enterprises, as well as the use of evaluations to improve the programs.
A selection of the papers received will be invited to the Conference. All participant papers to the
conference will go through a blind peer reviewed process, based on which final decisions for
publication in Well Being and Social Policy (WBSP) will be made. WBSP is an academic
journal jointly coordinated by the CISS/IBERO published in both English and Spanish. The
Journal, currently listed on indexes of journals, is widely distributed in the American Continent
among policy makers, researchers, and students interested in the field. For more information

2. Organizers will pay plane tickets in economy class1, food, and accommodations during the
Conference for those authors whose articles are accepted and who consent to publish their work
in the journal Well-Being and Social Policy. The articles accepted to participate in the
Conference are not necessarily accepted for publication, as explained in the previous paragraphs.
