Designer
New generation BiFuel Engine Control Unit platform:
I was in charge to develop the next generation Engine Control Unit platform. The first task has been
spent to selected the more flexible hardware architecture, able to fit the requirements of safety critical
applications. After the design phase and I have worked closely with the PCB design team with the aim
of achieve the best EMC compromize.
Before being able to perform a complete porting of application software modules, basic software layer
has been redesign for the new 32bit based platform.

SW MDB develop:
My work has focused on the development of application software according to the procedures of
Model Based Design. Once collected specifications, I share with colleagues the architecture of the
control strategy to be implemented before moving to design, automatic code generation, integration
and testing phases. I have modify the development cycle by introducing a revisions and configuration
manager tool and a methodology to improve Software In the Loop simulation. I started the activities
for the implementation of an Hardware In the Loop system.

I have designed an add-on module to the standard conversion kit dedicated to the Korean market.
After the completion of the wiring diagram, I coordinated the routing phases and the product
industrialization working closely with production plant technicians. The activities ended with a trip to
the customer to follow the first installations of the module.

UDS - Unified Diagnostic Services
I dealt with the develop of a firmware module that implements the communication protocol for
diagnostic services in accordance with the UDS standard (ISO-14229). The task of integrating the
module into the existing SW structure has also led to a major overhaul of the software architecture of
the GAS electronic control unit.

It was my job to coordinate a team of three people through all project phases of an electronic control
unit designed to equip LPG Fiat group cars.The work was carried out starting from the idea to the
production launch, passing through the design and qualification phases according to the guidelines of
APQP procedures. This experience has allowed me to investigate both the technical design and more
managerial/organizational aspects.

DCDC Digital Control:
I dealt with the develop of digital control system, based on Freescale microcontroller, for power
electronic (INVERTER, DCDC, PFC, …). The activity of hardware design was often supported with a
substantial work of modeling and simulation of the developing system. This approach made it possible
to validate in advance some design choices and to proceed with the definition of the control
algorithms.

KERS – Kinetic Energy Recovery System:
Together with the team I joined, we dealt with the study, development and testing of a kinetic energy
recovering system for high performance cars. I was involved in the activities of system model definition
in Matlab/Simulink. I have developed some low-level firmware modules and I was involved into the
test of first prototype hardware. Later, I switch to the testing of the complete system, first in the labs
and then at the dyno bench. Through these activities I have gained good experience in the field of
power electronic systems.
