Mr Keaoleboga Budani
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
University of Bradford 2010 – 2015
Electrical and Electronic Engineering (MEng) - First Class with Diploma in Industrial Placement
My final year project was a design of a camera tracking RFID motion
sensor. This is a motion detection system that controls a camera to take
and send images of the detected object within the sensor range to the
computer, mobile device or external memory. The system was covering all aspects a user needed to
operate on security system of any kind.
Relevant Modules:
o Advanced Embedded Systems Design & Applications; Advanced Numerical Methods; Design
Optimization; Interdisciplinary Competitive Design; Electronics Application Project; Engineering
Analysis; Financial Management; Engineering Computation; Power Convers and Applications;
Group Project Design; Risk Management.
University of Botswana 2008 – 2010
Bachelor of Science (General) – Average (GPA) = 4.3/5.0
Relevant Modules:
o Communication and Study Skills, Computing & Information Skills, Calculus,
Introduction to Linear Algebra, Matlab, Structured Programming, Electricity &
Magnetism and Newtonian Mechanics.
TECHNICAL SKILLS AND ACHIEVEMENTS
Trained on SAFEMine programs (TL1, TL2 and SMTrack) under Hexagon Mining Supervision:
Working with the SAFEMine QC250 CAS/Track Main
Unit using WiFi with remote display on the Collision
Avoidance System (CAS) in the vehicles/equipment
operating on surface mines.
Doing the physical installation of CAS, Radar &
Camera system.
SAFEmine CAS - Traffic Awareness & Collision Avoidance for all mine vehicles to reduce accidents by alerting
operators to imminent threats;
o Configuration/programming of the QC250 after installation of CAS to the respective equipment by
defining variables needing monitoring on installed equipment.
o Working with SyncStation for both configuration and firmware updates. Using the SyncStation to
check the functionality of the SAFEMine equipment on installed vehicles.
o Integration of the BoomGate system with that of CAS. This setup is to get CAS installed vehicles to
trigger the BoomGate to open for their access to restricted areas. Capability of configuring the
BoomGate to operate as a SyncStation for light vehicle.
o Working with Remote Display and Scope Screen to visualise and animate the data interpreted by the
connected QC250 SAFEMine unit.
o Monitoring the associated Vehicle Register used for CAS configuration. Creating the required vehicle
models with the respect to the mine equipment.
o Basic incident reporting and downloading of files from the equipment involved in an incident and

2. supplying the Office with data for critical analysis.
TRACK - Tracking and reporting for the entire fleet: Live tracking & in-vehicle monitoring through a web
interface over WiFi. Customisation of sophisticated reporting of real-time alerts and events like speeding,
usage and others;
o Running WiFi strength and connectivity tests onsite using SAFEMine Tool, SMTool and reporting
directly to SAFEMine office for results interpretation and support.
o Monitoring the onsite SMTrack by uploading installed equipment and downloading the customized
reports.
TrackingRadar - Detect and track unprotected objects, vehicles and ground personnel;
o Installation of these sensors and integrating them with SAFEmine CAS.
o Configuring the sensors with respect to their position on equipment and to site-specific requirements,
such as maximum detection range, speed, and critical zones.
ShovelAssist - Helps avoid incidents between shovels and surrounding machines;
o De-clutters the cabin by integrating cameras, TrackingRadar, and CAS pertaining to safety.
o Elimination of blind spots.
o Generating full near-misses records to support investigation, improve operator training, and enhance
safety measures.
Working Arduino and Proteous software:
a) Teamwork – Can manage, lead & work with a team with minimum of 12 persons.
b) Communication – Acquired great communication skills both from the Industry and Universities attended.
c) Organisational – Effective in completing all scheduled work on time referencing a Gantt chart.
