PROFILE
Highly experienced in all matters relating to export sales (particularly Middle east) including all
aspects of brand management, distributor selection & management, local marketing
methods (e.g. territory seminars), identification and relationship building with key decision
makers (e.g. consultants, architects and end users) and all aspects of export paperwork
including price negotiation, administration of Letters of Credit, invoicing, packing lists
and Certificates of Origin.
EMPLOYMENT HISTORY
Feb 2002 to Sept 16 Export Sales manager APT Security Systems
A £5m t/o business which designs, manufactures, installs and services a range of vehicle
based access control and hostile vehicle mitigation systems.
Employed to help the business expand into new markets outside of the UK where the business
could gain good revenues from their planned new developments. Using my vast exporting
experience (particularly of the Middle East), I was able to grow this market from zero to £1.5m
by 2015. My role included all aspects of the export market including sourcing of suitable
partners, getting the product specified, identifying & attending in country seminars, marketing
the APT brand, facilitating the export paperwork (e.g. Letter of Credit, shipping documentation
etc). Achievements include:
Increased annual export sales from £0 - £1.5m
Total sales of £15m
Identifying, appointing and managing a range of in country distributors / installers
Identifying key consultants / architects, building relationships in order to get products
specified on schemes
Provided training and guidance to the business in all matters relating to the export market
and documentation
Setting up a technical support function
In-house distributor training for full product range
1992 to Jan 2002 Export account manager Kidde Fire protection
Kidde Fire Protection designs, manufactures, installs and services a range of fire detection /
alarm and suppression systems.
Initially employed as a product manager to launch FM200 range, after successful
launch I travelled extensively training approved distribution partners in EMEA and UK.
I then moved into a sales role as territory manager MENA, Southern Europe and
India. During my time at Kidde I enjoyed four years based in Dubai with Kidde
International as area manager for MENA and the Indian subcontinent. During my time
in Dubai sales for Kidde Fire Protection increased from £1m to £5m.
1990 to 1992. Design Office Section Leader. Thorn Security. International Div.
Managing a very motivated ACAD design team working on international and marine fire
alarm and suppression systems design.

1981 to 1990. Project Engineer / Section Leader. The Walter Kidde Co.
During my time in the special projects group at The Walter Kidde Company, I started
as a design draughtsman, moving on to design office section leader, and culminating
as a project engineer.
1980 to 1981. Piping Draughtsman. M W Kellogg Co.
After successfully completing a three month design school in petrochemical pipe work
design at Lumus in London, I worked on piping design on several international
ammonia and urea projects.
1975 to 1980. Mechanical Technician Apprentice. Marconi Stanmore.
As a mechanical technician apprentice at Marconi Space and Defence Systems
Stanmore I enjoyed my first year at the GEC Osram apprentice training center in
Wembley. Returning to Stanmore in various departments to successfully complete my
five year term.
